I write this after two years of testing just about every rose fragrance I could get my hands on. My husband loves rose. Me, not so much. I wanted to find a rose that we could both love. I am shocked that this became one of our favorites. I have tried to like Creed–I really have. Till this, I have generally found them overblown and often downright noisy. This smells fresh and real enough for me, rosy and feminine enough to make my husband swoon, and it ages beautifully on the skin.
I do hate that it is only available commercially in one size. A gigantic, $500-dollar 8ish ounce bottle. I would love to have this in a smaller size. As it is, I manage with decants because I just cannot spend that much money on one bottle. Seriously, I am not a cheapskate but $250 is my limit. Theres no way I will use more than 8 ounces in a lifetime and I’m not crazy about splits.
Anyway, with that quibble about size aside, this is in my top five favorite rose perfumes and as I said, I’m not generally a rose or Creed fan. It’s just lovely.

I vastly prefer Creeds Fleurs de Bulgarie, an older scent made for queen Victoria, that easily stands head and shoulders above current dark roses available today. FdB is a dark gothic rose, in the same character as L’arte di Gucci EdP, whose sweetness is mitigated by the creed base of musk and ambergris. (Although FdB is sweet, it’s not quite gourmand; IMO the best gourmand rose is Andy Tauers Rose Vermeille.
FdTRB, on the other hand, is a relatively straightforward green stemmed tea rose with tea and a citrus feeling. For the money, if you want something along these lines, I recommend either going cheap (sweeter tea rose by perfumers workshop) OR going expensive FM Une Rose, which is the rose scent that started my conversion from hating any hint of rose in fragrances to loving them.
I am a fan of Creed and my reviews are of vintage new dead stock manufacturers samples, not current reformulations. Given that I already own more perfume than I can use in several lifetimes, there is no way I can purchase 250 ml of anything. . . . But, if I did, there are perhaps five other Creeds that I would select before FdTRB. The ones I would select would include the sumptuous creed dry down with ambergris and musk that make you want to keep inhaling your wrist.
Note: a Fragrantica review suggests layering this with creed vintage Tabarome. I don’t have any Tabarome (yet), but I have layered this with Avon vintage Leather from the 1960s (NOT to be confused with Avon black leather or Avon black suede leather). I also layer a dab of Avon Leather on one wrist with a dab of FdB.

Over 100 years old, this perfume is, but I never found a fresher, more youthful, more exhilarating rose. This is a true rose with overtones of green tea and citruses, like sniffing a bunch of pink roses with a few drops of morning dew still on the leaves. An absolute, breathtaking beauty.
This one rather than the limited edition of Les perfumes de Rosine should be called Clair Matins, because this is the impression it gives: A perfect, clear, still cool but warming up summer morning in a rose garden.
It is perfect for a summer day, makes me feel young, feminine, optimistic and in a mood to welcome the adventures this day will bring, a smile always on my face.
I love this so much, I actually bought a full bottle, one of those enormous 8.4 ounce bottles, and I do not intend to share it, sorry, I want it all for myself!
Men seem to love it, too, by the way.

I am a huge rose fan in all it’s nuances, from thick honey sweet rose attar to the thrillingly alive scent of a climbing specimen in full bloom. This perfume leans most definitely towards the latter. Rather than being a clearly identifiable note, the citrus acts to enhance the freshness of the rose and lend some background sweetness. Don’t be fooled by this seemingly delicate perfume, it’s sillage and longevity are wonderful and worn lightly will enhance any Spring or Summer persuit.

This rose scent is strikingly beautiful, and the first 10 minutes made me feel as if I were strolling through a rose garden in the fall. This scent appeared linear to me, and didn’t reveal any intesting base notes. I felt sophisticated, but not old-lady with this on. However, it will probably not be something I reach for except on special occasions.

On first spray, Fleur de The Rose Bulgare confronts you with a bizarre, almost vinegary sharpness, but just as you’re about to beg the sales assistant for a wet wipe, the fragrance makes a complete left turn and … ooo, what’s this? Crisp dark greenery and a dense, dewy, natural rose. A breath of powder – young and crystalline, not old and musty – emerges during the dry-down. Applied sparingly, FdTRB is a bona-fide, surprisingly modern keeper. Applied generously, however, it might be just a little too much.
Sillage is incredible – I received quite a few compliments this afternoon – and the lasting power out of this world. I can smell the fragrance almost twelve hours later and it shows no sign of dissipating yet.
I’ve removed a lippie because no fragrance on earth is worth �265, no matter how beautiful. I’m aware that Creed is extreme high-end, with FdTRB part of the ultra-rare Private Collection, but it would be nice if Creed made a smaller bottle available for those of us who’d have to go without food for a month if we bought the full size.

I’ve been on a hunt to find a rose-scented perfume to wear, and during my research this perfume kept being mentioned. After reading so many raves about how it was such a pure/true rose scent, I had to give it a try.
When I purchased, I got four other samples, but this was the one I eagerly opened first. And the verdict is…
It’s nice.
Those were my exact words when it hit my nose. It’s a straight, uncomplicated rose scent beginning to end and actually pretty pleasant. But I also think it’s unremarkable. To me, it’s exactly like any other rose scented bath product I’ve ever had growing up. Memories of Christmases past came flooding back when my Grandma would get me rose bath fizzies. (Not a bad thing! The experience brought a grin out of me. Love you Grandma!)
In a way, I felt a little disappointed. I kind of wanted to be blown away by this scent. I had hoped it would live up to the hype, but I have to honestly say, I find it generic.
Which brings me to my rating. On its own, this is a 3. The scent is very wearable. I don’t think it has a musty or old-lady smell, which (sadly) rose scents tend to get tagged as. It’s not bad, not amazing… Yep, a solid 3.
However, after much internal deliberation, I had to knock a point off for cost. Good grief! This stuff only comes in an 8.4 oz flask and you can’t find it for less than about $270 USD online. I will thoroughly enjoy my sample, but I wouldn’t pay for a bottle given the average juice inside.
If you love rose scents but haven’t tried this one, I highly encourage sampling it. I’ve heard that it’s difficult to find in stores; I got mine through The Perfumed Court, who has various sample sizes starting at 1ml. (I like this feature, should I ever need another fix, I might buy a larger decant. It’s more per ml, but I can’t imagine using eight ounces of this – or any – perfume.)

This would be the perfect rose EXCEPT it has the green with it. When I wear it, I have to mix it with another fragrance to get rid of the green. Wearing this fragrance is like being stuck in a rose bush. The roses smell great but the leaves are going to make you itch after a while.

This is beautiful. I am lucky enough to have roses in my garden and nothing is more beautiful that a rose that just opens, blooming in the morning sunshine with a few drops of dew on the petals… as we walk our dog around, i love to stop and smell other neighbor’s roses, yes i do take time to stop and smell the roses! this scent is exactly like that snif you get from a bloom. exactly. you can not smell it and not smile (if you enjoy a good rose!) the funny thing is i dont like floral scents (mostly) this is not sweet it is sharp and fresh and i do smell the green stem as well as the flower. it is so pretty and so feminine. not something i would want to smell like every day, i’ll save it for special occaisions (i do not have a whole bottle i have a few decants from a sweet swapper). not sure if i would invest in a whole bottle, as i have so many other scents, however i do enjoy this one when i want to think of my garden. UPDATE** i have found that i dont enjoy this as much as i thought i would, i get whifs of it through the day and it reminds me of scented maxi pads, ick!

Clean, freshly cut rose with the greenery still on . I’m still searching for my best ever rose, but this one is nice – a little too bright and cheery though. I’d like to find one with the crispness of this one but also a peppery sharpness and a bit more depth. Everything I try is tea rose scent – I need an olde world rose!
