This paint pot is great to be worn on its own, but I wished it looked darker on my lids, it always looks a little brighter than it looks on the pot. Overall, its a lovely metallic brown wich giver depth to eyeshadows put on top of it. Has a nice texture too, creamy! It lasts all day long without primer on me.

Constructivist is one of my favourite paint pots. I have fair skin and green eyes that are complimented by this deep brown with metallic sheen. Can look cool or warm depending on what colors you pair it with.
The texture is creamy, blendable and stays put all day. Can be used alone for an earthy smokey eye, as a base for so many other colors (taupes, golds, greens, purples) or just smudged along the lash lines for a subtle daytime smokey look. I use a slanted brush with synthetic hair from The Body Shop for that.
So lovely and so versatile. Just great.

I love MAC paint pots and I wanted to love Constructivist. I have tan skin with green eyes and thought this would be a replacement for a discontinued Smashbox Jet Setshadow liner in a bronze color, but it isn’t. It pulls very cool on me, so it looks muddy. That’s just me, because I know this looks stunning on a lot of women. The texture is great and it lasts ALL day. This color was just a miss for me. I own other paint pots and I love them all. I might keep this and use it as a liner. PAINT POT TIP: Store paint pots upside down and they won’t dry out as quickly.

This paint pot is a beautiful dark, metallic brown with a red undertone. I purchased it more than a year ago, and it’s still creamy when I apply it. To be honest, I purchased it and didn’t wear it much on my eyes since I have other paint pots that I think are more complimentary under eye shadows, and on their own. I had to experiment to make it work for me, but I’m really glad I did.
I use this paint pot as a winged eyeliner, and can use it as a stand alone eye shadow or a base for darker, smokey eye looks. The red tone is really flattering on my Olive skin tone and stands out really nicely on my eyes. I can see how amazing this would be on lighter eyes, but also on deeper skintones.
Mainly, I use this paint pot for my eyebrows. I was inspired by the Anastasia Dip Brow products, and to my surprise, this paint pot actually worked well on my brows! I have thick, unruly brows, but I only use the paint pot when my brows are well-shaped and only need help with definition and making them look sparse. I would recommend Constructivist for use on the brows, especially if they are tamed and sharper in shape. I believe Anastasia’s Auburn Dip Brow is very similar in colour and finish to this paint pot. I use a very light hand and an angled brush during application.
I’d like to try the Dip Brow someday, but using the paint pot for my brows helps to set them and make them last all day. My brows last longer than any other part of my make up. I am really pleased with the many uses I have for this product. Would definitely repurchase if it ever ran out, but it looks like it’ll be a year or two before I even have to worry about that.
I recommend this paint pot to anyone. I think it would work with most skin types, undertones and eye colours.

I love this color. I have blue eyes and they get extra blue with constructivist. It is my absolute favorite eyeshadow of all. Would definitely recommend it and it last for hours.

This is my all time favorite HG e/S. I wear this color every single day, I put on 3-4 layers.of this with black e/l and lots of mascara for a smokey eye. Chocolate mocha brown with taupey point undertones with soft shimmer to it. People tell me it it matches my Revlon Iced Mocha l/s that I pair it with LOL. NC 42 for ref.

I love this Paint Pot, especially now that autumn is here. Constructivist is probably what I wanted Chanel Ebloui to be. It’s a beautiful, slightly bronzey mid-toned brown. It’s a lot less red toned and, therefore, a lot more flattering and easy to wear for me. I dropped a bundle for Ebloui, in spite of my sense that it might not be the best shade for me. I still use it (because it was sort of pricey) but it’s a bit of a struggle, whereas Constructivist just looks perfect every time. I can use this all on its own or as a base to give more depth and definition to other shadows; it looks amazing with MAC’s Tempting (which can always use a bit of “help”) or Patina applied over-top. When I wear it on its own, I like it best applied all over the lid and into the crease, faded up slightly and then with something light and bright just on the inner corner and a matte highlight under my brow. Such a quick and easy look that always looks appropriate. And, just like Painterly, this lasts all day without creasing. In just a short tme, this has become an absolute “must have” for me.
2018: Why on earth has MAC discontinued Constructivist? It is no longer showing on their website (I’m hoping it might still be available in a few stores here and there or, even better, that this is just an error on their site). It is such a great Paint Pot and there really isn’t another shade like it (Groundwork is the closest, I think, and it’s not very close at all). I hope they bring this one back. MAC seems to take some perverse joy in axing some of their best products and formulations (Matte2, the original Pro Longwear shadows) and keeping some that are far less well-performing.

This is my first paint pot purchase. Now I really afraid to purchase paint pots mainly because them seemed so emollient, so I figured it was just going to get crease-y and nasty on my oily eyelids.
Boy was I wrong! This stuff LASTTTTS, I love this stuff as eyeliner, as eyeshadow, as a smokey eye base. The color is gorgeous, this warm dark brown. It’s made me start lemming several other paint pot colors 🙁
I really recommend picking up paint pots in main colors that you use often, for they make great as a base or on their own 😀

Ohhh yes yes yes! Constructivist is a fantastic paint pot. A very stunning, rich, warm, deep brown colour that is great to use as a base for a smokey brown look. Very pigmented, and has a beautiful, slightly shimmery finish. The colour itself is build-able, so you can darken it up by layering it which I like, also very easy to apply lightly to get a soft hint of the colour. I will admit, I’ve never used any of the paint pots solely as a base (always use UDPP no matter what) but I do find them nice and long wearing. I would definitely recommend this colour to girls who like a bold eye and are looking for a nice dark base colour! Looks great on it’s own as well! I’m an NC35 for reference.

MAC Constructivist is an absolutely beautiful chocolately brown which is not shimmery but does have a good sheen. The texture is easy to apply but it is not very creamy and there is not too much slip so it sets very quickly. Blend quick! It is great for everyday wear and also for evenings or special occasions. Super versatile. You really can take it from subtle, smokey and neutral to dark and smokey. I have very oily eyelids, everything creases on me if I don’t use NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base but this paint pot lasts surprisingly well, about 8 hours. MAC paint pots are 5g and will last absolutely ages. The packaging can be improved as I’ve heard that these dry out easily, storing them upside down can combat this. All in all, I love Constructivist.
