I have to say this is an AMAZING product. I use it on my cystic acne and white heads and it reduces the size of them overnight and sometimes even takes them away.

I don’t know why the hell my skin reacted the way that it did with this but oh boy I will not be using this again!!
To my absolute horror a few days after using this, my chin, forehead and some other spots around my face were SO DRY. And I don’t mean dry as in just flakey dehydrated dry (although it was also this), I mean like dry, bumpy, rough leather that had been left in the sun for about 50 hours. I was absolutely mortified and it took about a week of intense moisturising to get my skin back to semi normal.
As I’d been trying out a few of the Mario drying products at the same time I decided to try this out again but after one use I could feel my skin going back to the rough dryness I got the previous time so will definitely not be using this again!

I got this in a mini size with my Mario Badescu Acne Starter kit. I have pretty bad acne and breakouts and normally I’ll just apply a charcoal clay mask to the area to dry it out but I find that this really does do a better job I have been using. I apply a fair amount of the cream over the pimple after I have cleansed and toned (before moisturising) at night and I have really noticed a difference in the appearance of my breakouts in the morning. The only reason this is 4 lippies and why I would not purchase the full size is because the sulfurous smell is almost unbearable.

Smelly, messy (gets stuck in nails) and irritated my skin however this is because I have a sensitivity to bee products. However it did slightly reduce inflammation of active acne. Would not repurchase.

I will start by saying I don’t have a problem with acne, I just get the occasional pimple and a few stubborn small blackheads. I bought this to dry out any big pussy pimples or under-the skin pimples in hopes that it will make them dissapear quickly. After using this for a few months now I can confirm it does greatly help reduce the appearance of pimples for me. I do my normal skincare routine and smear a decent sized blob on the affected area and leave it for a few hours or over night. It dries out the area well so once I remove it I re moisturize the surrounding area with RetinOil and it works a treat. The reason I am giving this product a 4 rather than a 5 is because of the AWFUL smell, it’s pretty rank, not unbearable but it’s bad. The packaging is also not my favourite but not a big issue.

I don’t like the smell but it’s not that bad. I don’t like the texture. I don’t like the way I put it on my face (after cleansing and moisturizing) and it makes my face look gross, pale and dry. It’s also hard to rub in. I also didn’t see a difference in my small forehead bumps after using it for a week I was done with it. I contacted the company and tried to ask if it would have a purging phase or if it would eventually start working and they never contacted me back so I didn’t like that either…

I bought this product after reading some reviews that claimed the cream had helped get rid of their forehead bumps. My skin is pretty clear but the only issue I have are these small, skin-coloured (which sometimes become red) bumps all over my forehead. I’ve had these bumps for 3 years now so I was really desperate to get rid of them.
I applied some extra virgin olive oil on my skin and then the drying cream before going to bed (loads of people stated that it had caused their skin to dry up when they didn’t apply a moisturiser first). I did this for 3 nights straight and every morning I would wake up with more and more bumps popping up on my skin. Plus the bumps felt painful and were turning into red spots on my skin.
Bottom line, after trying the cream on its own and with the clinique moisture surge as well as an origins moisturiser, it just worsened my forehead bumps in each scenario.
But I will point out that it works well on those red, painful under-the-skin spots that I normally get around that time of the month (hence the 4 lippie rating).
P.S. I recently found that applying a turmeric/milk/honey mask on my forehead for 10-15 mins. before my nighttime skin routine really helps reduce forehead bumps. The morning after I wake up with smoother and brighter skin. I’ve been doing this every other day this last week and my skin is almost 100% clear so it’s defo worth a try 🙂

This is honestly my HG acne product, I can’t live without it now.
So to describe my acne, it comes and goes and it’s usually just red bumps, luckily nothing cystic. This stuff is awesome though. I just apply a thick layer over the spot for about three nights and I can 99% guarantee that the size will have dramatically reduced. It doesn’t sting like other products to, and actually I don’t find it dries out my skin although when I’m using this on certain areas I make sure to moisturise the rest of my face.
I have a lot to thank this cream for, now I’m left with just scarring which in my opinion is better because there’s treatments and options available and it can be covered up easily with makeup.
This seems to be marketed as a concealer too, but I’m not sure how it would work unless you were the exact same skin tone as this cream. My skin is NC35-40 depending, and it looks weird even rubbed in. Also it’s a dryer paste consistency so it stands out under makeup.
All in all, long-ish review yes but this is definetely worth checking out. It’s cheap (£12.50 I believe), helps acne, easy to use and you get a lot of product compared to what you actually need to use.

I’ve given this the highest ratings overall and for packaging. I also have the buffering lotion and may review that later but for me the Drying Cream is essential in my pimple busting kit.
I have been using this for around 10 year and it never fails me. As you can see if you read my other reviews, I tend to review and recommend my HG products because review-writing takes time and I really want to let you all know what is tested and true for me.
I battled adult acne from around the age of 18 to 33, when I had a baby. I still get cystic under-the-skin pimples (though rarely now) and whiteheads (also relatively rarely now, maybe one a week?) but over the years I battled very bad acne I tried it all.
To kill pimples I’ve used prescription medication, oral and topical, proactiv, acids, Mario Badescu, tea tree oil, weird clinical treatments, masks, bleach, charcoal, you name it I’ve tried it.
This drying cream is aimed at whiteheads and for me it works every time. You put it on overnight and the next morning the whitehead will have shrunk or disappeared, less red, and essentially on its way out. Do it for a couple nights and it’s gone! No picking, no scarring, no weeping face that you can’t cover with makeup. Generally a painless treatment (except it smells sulphurous, which I’m used to). The buffering lotion is aimed at cystic acne and I also find that to be effective. You can layer both. You’re supposed to be able to put this over a whitehead you’ve picked but the weeping doesn’t mix well with it. For that I used a medicated powder I got from the chemist.
I have a small tub of this that’s lasted forever as I don’t need much and don’t need it for my full face. It says use sparingly but I pile it on over the pimple and it’s fine. When I say pile it on, I mean I literally scoop some out and spackle it on like a mm thick. It dries.
Because you use so little it’s inexpensive overall.
I think it’s the sulphur in this which makes it work. Like with other products I’ve recommended, I cannot say why this is effective compared to other products, I just know it works for me and has done for many years in all conditions and even as my skin has changed. Give it a shot! You may need a couple nights but it’s worth it for not creating scars that do more damage than good.

This works well, but it can get a little clumpy. I bought it for my son, who battles severe acne constantly. My son prefers $7.00 De La Cruz 10% Sulfur Ointment over this because this has a bit of a zincy, pasty feel. Personally, I love this, because it works beautifully as a neutralizer/concealer on and around my nose. It is “drying” but, unlike benzoyl peroxide, it doesn’t cause irritation and burning. It works 10x faster than salicylic acid on my skin, and salicylic acid doesn’t work at all for my son. Drying Cream is a great buy!
