This is my favorite acne cleanser. I’ve had constant breakouts for more than half of my life, and this stuff helps keep most of the acne from coming up. It’s gentle and has a light, pleasant scent. When I started using this and ditching Neutrogena, I didn’t have a breakout for a month!
I only suggest two things if you use this facial cleanser:
1. If your skin is a little more dry, or you find this cleanser to be drying, please use a moisturizer afterwards. Despite having oily skin, I still use moisturizer after washing my face so my skin won’t produce more oil.
2. If you live in a very humid environment that grows a lot of mold, I recommend keeping it out of the shower. The bottle can get moldy if you do and that can make your skin break out. Yuck.

Did not work out well for my skin.
Broke me out and dried my face out.
I did like the scent however and how easily it foamed.

Have been buying this for years, more than a decade. Love the simple smell and the way it isn’t over drying. I use it daily, always before bed at the least. I pay $3-4 which is great for this size.

I have always had pretty clear skin but recently had some issues with red bumps perpetually popping up in my hair line on the back of my neck. My mom saw this stuff at Grocery Outlet & called me to tell me how it reminded her that she & her friends used to use Phisoderm on blemishes when the were teens, so maybe it would help me. I live in another state but was able to find a bottle at my local GO, thankfully! I’ve been using this on the back of my neck every time I shower (usually every other day) & have not seen red bumps on my neck since I started using it 2+ months ago. I really like this stuff & enjoy that it’s inexpensive and simple. Would recommend!

On my dehydrated-normal acne-prone skin, this cleanser is too drying and leaves my skin feeling tight and stripped. For me, this exacerbates my acne by kicking my oil production into overdrive. I had similar results with Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Acne Wash, although I find Neutrogena to be even more drying than pHisoderm. I experienced a decrease in acne when I stopped using this product and switched to a gentler cleanser (Vanicream cleansing bar).
I am also doubtful in general about this product’s anti-blemish efficacy. Since cleanser is only on your skin for less than a minute and then rinsed off, I’m not sure that is enough time for the active ingredient to work. It’s worth mentioning that I occasionally used this cleanser after removing makeup with straight oil, and even with a tablespoon of oil on my face this would still leave my skin feeling somewhat tight.
Overall, this product definitely did not work on my dehydrated skin and made my acne worse. I’m also not sure how successful this cleanser would be on other skin types, and at reducing acne in general.

I was about to head to a department store to try and find a good cleanser but I was at Winco one morning when I spotted this for around 4.79. The bottle has a nice pump with attractive packaging. Upon examining the ingredients, I realized they look very similar to other HE cleansers I have seen. It contains no SLS, parabens, linalool, alcohol, palmitates, silicones, or myristates which are some of the worse offenders for my acne-prone skin. So far I’m very impressed with how well this cleanser clears oil while leaving skin fairly balanced. It foams up nicely (which is important to me) and doesn’t leave residue. I can’t say it’s dramatically cleared any acne spots I have but I have only been using it for about 2 weeks now. I use acne creams and masks to help with my acne the most and really just wanted a foaming cleanser that cleanses well but won’t irritate or overly dry my skin. So far this performs and I haven’t been had the need to find a more expensive replacement for it. Can’t go wrong with a decent cleanser under 5$.

Add me to the list of believers. After 20+ years of trying every facial cleanser on the market for my oily/ acne-prone skin, I had pretty much given up years ago. I decided to forget about being proactive (ha ha, yes I tried their crap products too), and just stick with my really good spot treatment (Acnomel) and be reactive. I have never seen this in stores in my area, but I stumbled across it on Amazon as I was buying something else (it’s an add-on item on Amazon). I have been using it for about a week now, and I really do enjoy it. I think I may stick with it long-term. I like the gentle herb-y fragrance, like the fact it rinses clean, and love the SA in it. It does not overdry me and leave scaley white patches, but it also doesn’t leave a gross build-up. It does not moisturize and I DO NOT want it to. It’s a nice compact bottle with a little pump that fits easily in my showerhead hanging basket. I think my skin looks really, really good right now. I use this with my Olay motorized brush, and wow…very clean, clear skin. Give it a try if you haven’t. It’s priced so ridiculously modestly that it’s worth a try.

It’s a good cleanser.. Kept my breakouts under control. However, it’s not good with removing makeup. I have to wash my face 2 times at night with this cleanser just so my face feels clean without makeup residue.

This cleanser actually helps keep my oily/combo skin clear. I used Cetaphil for normal to oily skin for a whole bottle (that’s a LOT of product to get through) and felt it didn’t clear up or prevent blemishes. This stuff does the job for me and does not dry out my skin. Note: My skin is not particularly sensitive and those with dry/touchy skin might want to steer clear.

I’m terrible when it comes to face wash. I always use something for about a week, then see something that I think might work better and I end up screwing with my skin. I’ve been using Phisoderm for a couple years and it’s always worked great. The only place I can find it is the grocery store, weird. It does everything I want out of a daily facial cleanser. I have oily skin and this gives me a nice fresh face before bed. I just use it at night when my skin really needs a deep clean. The smell is great and it foams up nicely. I don’t get much acne anymore since I’ve started birth control about a year ago, but this cleanser keeps those pesky blemishes that try to pop up; at bay.
