I feel like ever since I turned 25, my skin has started changing every so often. I have combination skin with a slightly oily t-zone and normal elsewhere, but lately my skin has been more dry, and I don’t just think it’s been due to the winter temperatures. I wanted a real “water bomb” mask, and this one intrigued me because it seemed a little similar to Peter Thomas Roth’s gel masks, only cruelty free and in a completely other price category..
I prefer to use it as an overnight mask, as I see little result when I just use it for 15-30 minutes. When I wash my face in the morning it feels hydrated and I feel like my makeup goes on slightly better than usual. The results are okay, but not great.
However, it really stings when you first apply it. My skin is usually not sensitive to perfume, but that’s my best guess as to what is the cause with this mask. I’ve seen a lot of other people complain about the same thing, but I initially dismissed it since my skin usually never reacts. I can take some stinging from face masks when it’s something like a clay mask or a salicylic acid mask, but in this case I really don’t feel like it “should” burn. I don’t get any visual irritation, but the stinging is real. It’s less prominent now that I’ve used it a few times than it was the first time I used it, though.
