I picked up this kit in the latest Sephora VIB sale which made it somewhat worth the splurge since it is already marked down as a value kit, the extra %age off was the push I needed to purchase it. The kit contains 8 products with the cutest color-coded packaging I’ve seen in a long time and I’ve tried them all as follows:
1. Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser: it’s okay, nothing mind blowing and not something I’d rush out to buy. I know the ingredient list is free from top allergens but this actually left my skin feeling dry and tight. This is a pass for me.
2. Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum: again, it’s okay, but on the thin side, very much like a light lotion. Personally, I prefer a thicker formula although there is nothing technically wrong with this product.
3. C-Firma™ Day Serum: directions suggest mixing this with the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel, which I did. I like vitamin-C serums and this one is no exception. It is a pale yellow/orange translucent liquid. One pump mixed with one pump of the B-Hydra gel is enough to cover your entire face and neck.
4. B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Gel: To be honest… this doesn’t feel all that hydrating to me as my skin felt pretty tight all day after applying this.
5. Umbra Sheer™ Physical Daily Defense SPF 30: The sunscreen dries down to a nice matte finish and leaves no trace of the white cast seen when applying it. This is a great product if worn alone without makeup overtop of it but it’s a hot mess under makeup.
6. T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum: I mixed this with the Marula Oil as recommended and I did not experience any itching, tingling or other irritation. It has a slightly higher concentration than my usual glycolic acid formula and I did notice dryness around my nose each morning following use of this. There was no difference in the texture of my skin so I’d stick with my preferred glycolic acid over this one.
7. Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream: I actually really like this cream. The texture is thick and bouncy, not like whipped cream but really nice just the same. Probably one of my favorite products in the kit.
8. Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil: The marula oil is the best of the bunch. I mixed it with both the Glycolic Night Serum and also the Lala Retro Whipped Cream as well as using it on his own and it’s a great facial oil in it’s own right.
Final thoughts… if you are interested in DE products, this is a good starter or sampler kit before parting with a heck of a lot of cash for any one individual product. These are expensive and I’m not convinced they are worth the price. Out of the 8, only 3 impressed me and none were enough to prompt a full-size purchase. It might be the fact that I have dry skin so please get samples and/or test out this kit for yourself if you are interested. This was just my experience and my opinion. Hope it helps.
