I used to like this product, as it didn’t make my hair/roots greasy like most shampoos, but after repurchasing, it doesn’t really work as well for me now. It makes my scalp really itchy and flaky, and my hair looks very dull after a day from washing, not very pleasant!

I really enjoyed this shampoo! It made my hair feel clean and smooth and it didn’t irritate my scalp. I especially enjoyed using the days were i use dry shampoo, salt water spray or any other hair product because it felt like it washed it all out and still left my hair feeling soft and moisturized. The scent is quite refreshing as well and nice if you like mint.
I would definitely recommend it to anybody with fine/thin hair!

This has a lovely sparkling spearmint scent that is not overpowering. I have fine, dry hair and this shampoo left my hair feeling even drier.

My hair is thick, wavy and is at shoulder length. I use this as a clarifying shampoo, together with the conditioner and sea salt spray. First of all: the smell of this… Utterly gorgeous! It cleans my hair brilliantly, I alternate with cleansing creams, so this takes care of the build-up of serums & styling product, which the cleansing cream doesn’t. This leaves my hair shiny & lightweight, with that gorgeous fragrance to boot :). Perfect for undone hair days!

I bought this on the fly, it was on sale half off.
This is by far the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever used. I have very long hair. It gets dirty fast. So, I wash every night. With this product, I wash every 4 days. My hair just does not need to be washed as often.
Only issue…. The stores stopped selling it, there is only ten ounces in the bottle. You run out fast.

They brought it back!! I never used this when it 1st came out but I saw that Lauren LC Conrad supposedly uses this & my hair is a similar cut & twice highlighted so I thought I’d try it. It is really great! I’m more of a LUSH person but I’m in lurve w this, the condish, & the sea salt spray. It is minty & refreshing while thoroughly cleansing my hair but not overly stripping it or making it dried out. I wash my hair twice a week so I use this every other shampoo/cond & it gets out the build up. I use a cleansing conditioner w a LUSH shampoo the other alternate & V05 clarifying kiwi shampoo once or twice a month. I’d never tried JF products b4 this but I am very impressed! I can see where this would be gr8 for summer.

Shampoo: They really mean the purifying part! This shampoo was way too harsh for daily use when I used my regular amount. I cut back to a tiny amount daily – still too harsh. Now I’m using it once a week with no-poo the rest of the days. It does a good job of cleaning, but my hair has been feeling pretty dry and my scalp is a little itchy. I ‘m about ready to give up and go back to a moisturizing shampoo.
Scent: Great scent. I think it smells like Wrigley’s Spearmint Gum. My Hubby thinks it smells like peppercorns. Either way, it’s a refreshing scent in the morning.
Packaging: Great packaging. Slim, easy to handle and easy to store bottle. The snap-cap fits nice and snug. Easy to pour out how much you want and snap the cap closed with one hand.
My hair: bra-strap length, fine, half blond/half grey, wavy, dry ends, and frizzy overall. I live in warm, dry SoCal, with minimal humidity.

Either the formula has changed, or my hair has! Used to be one of my favourite shampoos, kept greasy scalp at bay, smelled delish! Still smells delish, but makes my hair brittle dry, and my scalp oily, itchy AND flaky! Even as a weekly clarifying shampoo, it’s done more harm than good to my fine wavy hurr in just a couple of uses. Probably better for more robust/less fragile locks.

I could scarcely believe my eyes when I saw this on an end cap at Target- Cool Dip was my absolute favorite shampoo before it was so cruelly discontinued by the brain trust at John Frieda years ago. Just snapped up a bottle and am now going to wash my hair immediately. This smells just like I remember and with any luck will work just as well, too. I’ve missed you so much, Cool Dip! Now, if Clairol would only bring back the original ca. 1970’s Herbal Essences scent my hair and I could die happy.

**this review is for the re-released cool dip**
This a good “detox” shampoo with a really refreshing, pleasant scent. It’s too harsh to use regularly on my curly, slightly dry hair due to the lack of moisturizing ingredients, but it’s a great clarifying shampoo and it’s also good to use after spending the day swimming at the cottage, when you really want your shampoo to thoroughly clean your hair! It does make my hair soft and fluffy, but doesn’t do a lot to tame frizz. I can see this working well for people with straight or wavy hair who don’t need as much moisture in their shampoo.
I use this weekly as a clarifying shampoo and use a moisturizing shampoo the rest of the time. The scent and packaging are so beachy/summery and pretty, that I’ll repurchase for this use, but I won’t ever use it as my regular shampoo.
