   Love this product a lot, the shade is very flattering tone of medium to bright pink on my lips.
   Pros: very pretty color; nice velvet fell on the lips; matte but not drying; leaves pretty stain after eating or drinking
   So-so: a bit pricey if not on discount; too chubby a little bit hard to apply to the lips;
   Cons: smell is a bit strong but I still can handle it

   I have fair to medium combination skin allergic skin and I love this product. The pinky color looks really natural. I use it for my cheeks, lips and creases of my eyes. Kinda gives that 70’s make-up look. It has more staying power than my Nars, Tarte and Cargo “all in ones” and it has zero shine! It even seems to stain a little like the old discontinued bonne bell cheek stain that I loved. It is a little pricey but I love the packaging and the velvety texture. I live in the tropics 6 months and the Nars and Cargo ones kinda melt and get goopy… This one stays hard and travels well in my purse! I have been using it for 3 weeks and I have had zero reaction (clogged pores or breakouts)

   This is great for so many reasons! I didn’t have high expectations, since matte or “velvet” products tend to look very drying and unflattering on me including expensive brands like Chanel. I picked this up on a whim during a sale and was shocked by the quality. The twist-up stick is sturdy and easy to apply on the go, the product applies evenly, it wears extremely well and leaves a long-lasting consistent stain, it feels comfortable and natural and is truly moisturizing. It oddly does look matte, but smooth and moisturized and doesn’t look dry as it wears down. The shade is a natural brightish pink on me and works with my dark hair and pale skin. I have not used this as a blush, as I’m really sensitive and can’t use oil. If you’re looking for a matte-looking, moisturizing and long-wearing product, check it out. Wish I could say the same about my $35 CDN Chanel one! The scent is weird at first, like a health food store. But it fades and it’s manageable. Love this! Instant favourite.

   Not sure where to put this…is it a blush or a lip product? I even tried it on my eyes (which wasn’t bad, and might be a good base layer for rose-gold or even plum or brown shado.) I’ll be using it mainly as blush. This is one of those “universal” products that adapts to the pH of your skin – put it on and it changes color. It looks purple-ish black in stick form, and actually went on my lips as a weird gray right at first – but only for a second. I had a sample Jane Iredale lip/cheek product like this that smelled divine and was the prettiest light pink on my lips, but didn’t last as a blush – gone in minutes. I bought this just for fun, hoping that it could multi-task when I travel and lighten my make-up bag.

   As a lip color – velvet is a good word for it: if you put it on, then run your finger lightly over it, it feels like velvet. It claims to go on matte, and it does. Zero shine. It does not feel moisturizing like a balm, but it also does not feel drying like some stains. But I did find it to act like a stain. The color stayed around long after the product seemed to wear off – even after I took it off with makeup remover. It claims that it will give you an “individual poppy” shade. Maybe my eye for colors is off, but I wouldn’t call this poppy. It turned me a fairly pink shade with a little purple in it. Not awful, wearable, but not bright pink or hot pink, and definitely not red. And not really even like my lips – close, but something’s off. I think it’s that it seems to be a bit patchy – kind of a natural pink in places, and faint spots of darker, more purple pink. In other words, it makes me look like I bit my lip in a couple of places. It was better with a coordinating lip butter over it, so there goes the idea of lightening my load. I’ve only had it a couple of days, so I’ll keep trying, because I don’t hate it and it seems to be a little different each time I’ve tried it.

   As a blush – this I like. I typically wear foundation, a bit of matte bronzer mainly for sculpting, and then pink blush. Somehow pink looks more natural on me than other colors. This is reddish-pink blush on me – not hot pink or fuchsia, just a pretty color. Not sure what it would look like on other skins if it is really different on everyone. I tried it both with and without foundation (I figured it might be different if the foundation changed the interaction with my skin, which seemed to happen with the Jane Iredale.) This worked both ways, and lasted both ways. I tested that by putting a stripe of foundation down one side of my face, and drawing the Velvet Stick crossways over both the foundation and bare skin. No, I did not go outside that way. After a couple of hours, the color and intensity seemed to be the same on both the part with foundation and without. I noticed that on bare skin, it emphasized a dry area on my face, so I would put it over moisturizer for sure, because who wants to see pink flakes on someone? You also have to blend this – I didn’t have stripes anywhere, but it’s not creamy and takes a little work to blend.

   There are better blushes out there for the money, and I don’t think it will do the job of two products for me, so that’s why I’m saying I wouldn’t buy again.
