Way better than the mac one. The mac one is super cheaply made compared to this. This cuts like butter and also has a little stick to help clean itself. The mac one i had trouble cleaning and then putting it back together itd break apart on me after a couple of months. This is so cute to just have on the vanity also.

I don’t know what in blue blazes held me off from getting this. I have meant to pick one of these up for years now, and finally have. This is a great sharpener. Travels easily, sleek and I love the design (trivial, but yeah). This also sharpens pencils easily and evenly. Great price point. I have tried other pencil sharpeners from the drugstore that cost about the same price and didn’t work as well. So glad I finally ‘remembered’ to finally purchase this little bugger!! Feels like this will last a long time as well.

This is a nice sharpener for the money. You can sharpen all sizes of pencils and it gives them a nice point. Easy to empty and great for travel.

Omg I cannot believe how great this sharpener is! I use to buy the cheaper stuff and it would damage my lip pencils, then I bought the nars one and it fixed all of them. Worth buying!
mildHeron6
Quality sharpener that outperforms the cheapies I’d previously owned.

All I can say about this product is I wish I would have invested in it months ago. I just got this sharpener and the difference is amazing. I was initially using those cheap $1 hand sharpeners you can get pretty much everywhere, and it was just eating the life out of my (very expensive!) eye liners, and they always formed a tip that never really seemed like a good idea to put near my eye. The very first time I used this sharpener the results were perfect, and have been every time since. I have no idea how I got along prior to this sharpener. At first I was a little wary about the $6 price tag, but it is well worth it, this is investment. It also claims that the sizes for the pencils are adjustable to fit other pencils, but I haven’t quite figured out how to do that yet. Overall though, I have no real complaints.

I use this sharpner to sharpen my urban decay 24/7 pencils. I bought it hoping my eye bright by Benefit would fit it too, but unfortunately I could’t get eye bright to fit. I like this sharpner.

The secret to any good eye pencil sharpener is the blade and the key to a good blade is the wording “made in Germany” and a sort of trident icon engraved on the blade. I have really great sharpeners from MAC, Urban Decay, NYX (an older one – not sure if they still use this quality blade) and Quo (again, an older one) and they all have this same blade with the trident icon and “made in Germany”. I’ve received a few GWP and cheaper sharpeners over the years without the wording and the icon and they’ve all not been worth keeping and have chewed up good lip and eye pencils.
This sharpener from ABH has the wording and the trident and it is a fantastic sharpener with the added bonus of fitting THREE different thicknesses of pencils rather than the standard 1 or 2. It’s inexpensive (well under $10) and simply works a like a charm. The only caution – and this is true of all the sharpeners I have that come with the little cleaning “toothpick” – is that you have to slide the cleaning pick out gently and horizontally, otherwise you with break the little “teeth” that hold it in place. This is true of the sharpenersI have from Quo, UD, etc. and leads me to believe they are all made in the exact same place and to the exact same specifications, just in different colours and with different brand names on them. It’d be nice if they’d redesign that feature since the “teeth” break off so easily – usually the first time you try to use the cleaning pick and before you’ve had a chance to realize that they will break. That’s my only “complaint” about “packaging”.
cynicalPiglet6
A dual pencil sharpener that sharpens three different sized pencils because the bigger opening has an insert that comes out. I got this because the very old but awesome Clinique sharpener I have flattens out the tip, but this said it makes a pointed tip. Well, I just tried it on my ABH brow pencil, and it did just that! No shredding or trashing the pencil either.
It’s kind of a nuisance that they have done away with the clear removable lid and it’s now black plastic, so if you want to see what it’s doing than you have to take the lid off. I paid $6 USD and think this isn’t bad. You can get a cheap sharpener for like a dollar but they’re usually terrible and tear up everything, so at this price point it’s worth it to pay just a little extra to get something that does a good job.
alertMallard9
There are better sharpeners out there. This is a standard dual-sized sharpener with the cute pink “A” logo on the front. I dislike the fact that the sides are unhinged and completely remove when cleaning. I know many sharpeners are very much alike and I tend to purchase mine based on aesthetics (or the need to bump up to free shipping 🙂 ) but I have better luck with my old Agnes b. than this one. Would not repurchase.

I’ve had a few of these over the years (I lose stuff easily), I’ve got 3 atm (2 single hole & 1 that sharpens 2 size of pencils).Tbh I reach for my UD Grindhouse more often except I make a special effort to sharpen my MAC pencils (lip liners/eye liners) w it & it makes such a nice sharp point. They are $10 so=same price as The Grindhouse.I’d suggest either MAC or Grindhouse if ur looking for a good pencil sharpener.Seems kinda dumb (?) like to spend $10 on pencil sharpeners but the prestige brand of sharpeners kick DS cheapo sharpeners so it will save u big time dividends in saving precious product rather than wasting those expensive pencils by the DS sharpeners eating them to all h3ll & back&u will get a better point esp on very soft pencils (eg MAC Smolder) which=more precise application/better looking results.sharpeners I don’t scrimp on.Have & will continue to repurchase! The packaging is sleek, basic, futuristic black plastic w the MAC logo.It has a little stick attached for scraping off product(it’s product u can maybe salvage!)comes in a resealable Baggie (I tossed mine coz takes up room but could be useful if on the go.(I keep mine I keep in my bag in a small plastic box so I can empty the shards when I get around to it if I can’t sharpen it over a wastepaperbasket when I’m out). These 2 are the only sharpeners that will touch my MAC pencils!

A great sharpener I’m not sure why there is bad reviews! It’s a Sharpener and does the job.
peskySwift9
Appalling sharpener. Used this in a hurry last night and it totally mangled my favorite eye pencil. Thought maybe I was in too much of a rush, so tried again today and found a bit of plastic which seemed to be deliberately there, but it stopped the pencil touching the blade properly. Tried a bigger pencil (as the hole is very big) and it too got eaten. Broke off the piece of plastic and the blade fell out, so chucked it away.
Really annoyed as it has great ratings and I’m sure I am capable of using a pencil sharpener, but can’t see how this could ever have worked. Maybe there is a faulty batch.
fondRat3
This one doesn’t sharpen well. Or maybe that’s my own personal experience, since so many other reviews on here are positive. Maybe I got a faulty one, but I thought this was the case with every sharpener in the world, meaning it was allowed to have its ups and downs. Recently I happened to lose it, so I replaced it with another Mac sharpener which is black with two holes (one for regular pencils and one for bigger ones), so I was able to compare and feel the difference between the two. The second one performs impeccably, it gets the pencils sharp and neat, like when I first bought them at the store. Now I realise that this one was pretty useless and I was being patient with it in vain. Had I not lost it, it would have kept consuming my precious pencil tips forever. Happy accident. Wouldn’t repurchase.

Ehr… the tip of the (m.a.c.) pencil came off. It doesn’t let it to be sharpened at will either, since there’s a piece of plastic preventing it from happening. That’s why the tip came off, I’m sure, because it cannot handle the stress of the rotation against a stationary object. Too bad I can’t return it because it was expensive (7.5€), does not sharpen anything like I’d want and the freaking tip came off (the whole thing! Of a 17€ pencil no less!).
It does sharpen the wood part nicely, but that’s not what you want in a makeup sharpener. Come on now. It has a deposit and is see-through thorugh the bottom. That’s a plus and I wish more pencil sharpeners did this, but still, I wish I hadn’t bought it. Jesus, the whole tip.

This is an amazing sharpener! How did I live with my drugstore sharpeners for so long? LOL This pencil always gives me a perfect, clean point to my eye liners–my pencils never have any jagged edges when I use this! And to top it off, it’s only six bucks. Even if it’s the only MAC product you buy, try this sharpener out sometime!
mereLard8
This is a good sharpener because it is indeed very sharp and easy to use, and the little cover is great. I absolutely despise sharpening my pencils (I’d rather clean all my brushes twice), so I inevitably leave it off until I just MUST do it, and it always happens to be early in the morning when I’m in a rush. So this sharpener makes my life that much easier, since I can deal with the mess and cleanup later, and leave the shavings in there. My gripes about this sharpener are that the point it creates is too long IMO (I’m being super picky here), and the cover tends to come off too easily. Overall, worth the $3 I paid for it, but would probably not purchase at full price (though I’m not sure what full price is).
pleasedGnu1
The cylinder is larger than I thought it would be when I bought it, but it’s dual-ended to accommodate two sizes of pencils. For cleaning you pull it apart to dump shavings from the middle.
Compared to Urban Decay’s Grind House, this feels a little flimsy. The plastic is much thinner, but on the plus side, it’s very lightweight.
The slim side of this is able to get the Charlotte Tilbury eye pencils and lip pencils to an extremely sharp point. These tend to be soft, so that was a nice surprise.
The wider side did a sloppier job of sharpening my NARS Rikugien Satin Lip Pencil, which is more like a fat crayon. Grind House is better for that one.
I bought this on Amazon as an “add-on” for six bucks. The sharpener isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely worth the price.

Oh thank God my eternal quest for the perfect sharpener is FINALLY OVER.
I have tried nearly a dozen – Milani, Dior, Calvin Klein, Bourjois, unbranded ones with Solingen blades, blah blah, the list goes on.
Now I have the Japonesque Dual Sharpener and I am HAPPY.
Simple and elegant design, normal pencils at one end, chubby ones at the other, all the shavings get collected in the middle (and it doesn’t pop open and spread debris everywhere if you drop it), it just twists open to empty when needed and it SHARPENS everything to a beautiful fine point. Even my very softest pencils end up with impeccable points.
Best $6 I ever spent.
I hardly, hardly ever say this but go and buy one immediately – it is completely wonderful.
I love it!
gutturalEggs2
This is really good. It has two different size holes and sharpens to a perfect point. I paid 3.50 for this at rite aid which is so good compared to some higher end ones prices. Like why do I need a Nars sharpener?
thriftyEggs0
Love the black packaging and how it has 2 hole sizes, comes with a pick so I can keep it clean of any shavings and was easy to find and cheap. Revlon is the best

Awesome product! Two turns and your liners are sharp as a pin point! Love it! Thanks MUA!

I can’t tell you how happy I am with this…. and it was so cheap (under $3). What a difference it has made when I sharpen my UD, L’Oreal & EL eyeliner pencils. I no longer have to freeze them first and this still gives me a nice fine point. My other sharpener was 15 years old and while it did the job I thought maybe it needed replacing because they do get dull after a while. I looked into buying one of the expensive name brands but I’m so glad I tried this one first.
hushedCod5
This is so much better than the MAC sharpener I bought a few days ago. With a few turns, I get the sharpest point…the MAC one never gives me that after 239483 turns. By that time, I have no more pencil left. Buy this if you’re a lip liner/eye pencil freak.
madCod2
Wow I am on a roll with the drugstore brands. Well anyway, this sharpener is ab fab. It only takes one turn to get a point which is important for an eyeliner and lipliner addict. I just tested out the one I bought for my mom; wow. I will be going back tomorrow to get an extra for me and throw my old one away.
truthfulVenison3
I love this sharpener. I still haven’t found any pencil that wouldn’t fit in it. It brings an extra piece that you just put to adjust to smaller size pencils. Love it!! It fit my clinique chubby pencils, my Benefit Eye Bright, Estee Lauder lip liners, everything you name it! would buy again if I need to.
murkyBuzzard9
If it weren’t for my love of NARS Matte Velvet lip pencils, I would NOT have bought this pencil sharpener. Yes it sharpens well without any snagging or cutting off the tips of my makeup pencils, but it’s a pain in the a$$ to open and the bottom keeps falling off. Also, the first time I was able to open the top (the side with the NARS logo, push the tab on the same side as the two sharpening holes), it snapped the cleaning pick in half so I was stuck with a broken cleaning pick. So when opening your sharpener, use caution!
fondOil5
I am so happy! I finally have a sharpener that will put a tip back on my Lancome Le Crayon Poudre pencil! This pencil would NOT be sharpened without the powder center breaking off at every turn. NARS sharpener had no problems at all.
mercifulEagle3
I’m so happy I bought this!! Initially it was because I wasn’t sure if my old Sephora sharpener was going to fit the huge order of Nars pencils I’d bought online. (This one comes with 2 sharpeners for small and large pencils, and an adapter for medium pencils). When I got it, I also tried it on a bunch of other pencils I had lying around…they’d been abandoned because over the years I figured they had dried out. Not so!! The Nars sharpener brought them back to creamy life whereas the old sharpener had just made crumbly piles. Sephora one immediately went into the trash. Wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase.
scornfulWasp3
I’ve had this sharpener for over a year, and it’s amazing. It’s lasted, and looks brand new. It sharpens quickly and it’s worth every penny!
gloomyShads6
I bought this a few years ago. I really love this sharpener!! I don’t see a need to purchase any other pencil sharpener unless it was a jumbo one for bigger pencils like NYX.
I had it for a long time before I had noticed that it had the stick on the bottom to clean the sharpener! I felt like an idiot but then again I was happy to find it! It is so easy to clean and it works so well! It doesn’t break my pencils and it sharpens everything to smoothly, it is fun to use!
cruelTruffle7
I owe two of these perfect little sharpeners, one of them I had for 10 years and its still going strong. I love the fact that it sharpens every makeup pencil out there (minus the jumbo ones!) creating a perfect “fine” point. This also comes with a little stick thingy on the bottom of the sharpener so you can clean out all that gunk that’s left behind. LOVE IT!
I noticed they came out with a newer version as well. I may give that one a try!
