I liked this at first, but considering the cost it’s definitely not worth it. It does not make your lipstick last longer. If anything it makes it fade quicker. The only good thing is that it does seem to make your lipstick glide on easier. The packaging is nice, and it doesn’t get gloppy or anything. It also has a nice scent to it — not strong, just pleasant. It definitely does not “plump” your lips as it claims.

It’s not a bad product but this is an example of a product that does not do what it claims. I cannot claim it makes my lipstick last longer because I already use long-lasting lipsticks from Stila itself, Kat Von D, Jouer, and Anatasia Beverly Hills and I’ve noticed no difference in the longevity of my lip products. In addition, there is absolutely no lip plumping. I can make my lips plumper with my poor lip-lining skills than with “this lip-plumping” primer. For the price point, I think it is better to invest in a good lipstick that will last long anyway as I’ve noticed no difference between wearing and not wearing this primer.

Don’t waste your money or time buying this product. The only thing I can say that it did for me was dry out my lips.

So far, this primer has worked better than the couple others I tried – MAC’s and Guerlain’s.
But, it’s not perfect by any means.
Pros:
– it mutes down the color of my lips, which is something I needed because everything looks brighter/deeper on me, boo!
– feels great upon application (cooling and hydrating)
– dries up quickly
– it does make lip products apply smooth, and last longer
Cons:
– it works better with some lip products than others. Some lipsticks which have decent pigment on my bare lips become almost clear when I have this primer on. I think it works best with pigmented liquid lipsticks than regular lipsticks
– the lipsticks drag a bit upon application
– my lips feel a bit dehydrated after I cleanse off my makeup
Its a good product that will last me a long time, so unless I find something else I like better, I think it’s worth rebuying.

In a nutshell: A possible solution to lip product caking
BACKSTORY: My lips are my favorite feature to play up, thus lipstick is my favorite cosmetic product to use. Unfortunately, I experience lip product (lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, liquid lipstick, lip liner) caking on my inner lip, leading to an embarrassing ring that is noticeable even when I’m not speaking (my lips are naturally big, full, and plump). It happens with every brand I’ve tried, from drugstore to high-end (ranging from brands like CoverGirl to MAC to Guerlain), no matter how fresh the product is.
Caking doesn’t seem to be a common problem so I couldn’t find many solutions to the issue after doing a little research online. I did try staying better hydrated, using lip balm under my lipstick, powdering lipstick after application, removing excess…nothing worked.
I had given up for a long time when I decided to consider trying a lip primer, which would help lip products adhere to the lip better, possibly reducing or eliminating caking. I finally found this wonderful product and it instantly became an HG!
APPLICATION: Apply a thin layer to the lips. A heavy layer will feel a bit sticky. Let dry (shouldn’t take long) then apply lip product. No tingling or discomfort associated with plumping products.
APPEARANCE: Milky and pale. Mutes natural lip color slightly, allowing lip products to be more true-to-color.
CONSISTENCY: Thin and incredibly water-like. Absorbs quickly as a result.
PERFORMANCE: Thanks to Lush Lips I now experience no caking whatsoever. I’ve tested Lush Lips so far with Guerlain Rouge Automatique and KissKiss, MUFE Rouge Artist Natural, Too Faced Metallic Melted liquid lipstick, and MAC Nouvelle Vogue, and they all wore excellently! I was shocked most by MAC, whose lipsticks cake the worst by far on me!.
My lip products last much longer with this primer. Even with eating/drinking/speaking during a long school or work day causing fading, they still look great, feel comfortable, and look smooth. I can’t speak for Lush Lips’ plumping abilities because my lips are incredibly full as they are.
SCENT: My one major con with this product is the soapy vanilla fragrance, reminiscent of PlayDoh. Honestly reminds me of cheap vanilla-scented dollar store bath and cosmetic products! It’s tolerable however, not noticeable after application. Wish Stila gave it the same heavenly vanilla cake/frosting-like scent that they use for their liquid lipsticks!
PACKAGING: Same size as the Stay All Day liquid lipsticks. Metallic reflective cap. Lightweight. The applicator is flimsy but adequate.
Truly a godsend! Highly recommended!
UPDATE 6/16/2015: After using this product for about a couple of months I want to add that to prevent caking you still have to stay hydrated throughout your day and remove excess product after application.
UPDATE 12/21/2015: Finished my tube recently after using it almost daily for over 6 months. Currently I’m trying a combo of a waxy lip balm (Weleda Everon) + a clear lip liner (Milani’s) to see if I can get similar (or better) results. If not, I will be repurchasing this. Really loved its lightweight feel, it worked excellently under any lip product.
