Upon the application, I thought that it’s probably the best complexion product I’ve ever used on my skin. It is tinted and the tint is just perfect for my skin tone. I even thought I could probably use it on no makeup days as a sunscreen with just a tiny bit of powder to set. The primer spreads easily and covers minor imperfections. By itself, it stayed just a tiny bit tacky. My foundation went beautifully over it. The single downside was the strong essential oil smell and tingling sensation, but who cares when the performance is so good!
Then I left the house. Seems that Alima Pure foundation experience taught me nothing… I should have first tried it on ‘stay at home’ day.
When I look at my face 30 minutes later I was shocked. The primer has separated under foundation it created a sandpaper-like skin surface and my foundation settled in every wrinkle I have, even those that I didn’t know I had. It literally aged me 15 years in 30 minutes! My foundation performs well without any primer and I used this one mainly to get SPF.
I had to clean my face with the napkins as well as I could and move on with my day. The separation continued…
When I came home I’ve checked the expiration day (long time to go). I got it at Dermalogica store, so there is no chance it’s fake. So I’ve decided to try it alone without putting anything over. Half of the face with the moisturizer underneath and another half without anything. In 15-20 minutes I’ve got sandpaper looking-like skin one more time.
The worst primer ever!
P.S. Get yourself a sample before buying the whole size product!

I love this primer. I use it under Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation. If I skip a day of using the primer, I can really tell. I use less foundation when I use it and always get compliments on how healthy my skin looks. My skin isn’t great. I am over 40 and suffer breakouts and have red spots where past breakouts used to be. I am combination/oily and I don’t notice any shine while using this primer until about 6 or 7 hours of wear and sometimes not at all. I wish the price point were better, however a little goes a long way with this product.

Super expensive, but amazeballs. It’s an incredible all in one tool. Moisturizer, tinted moisturizer, and primer. To top it off it has spf 30. I started using this on Carribean vacation . If you have pretty clear skin it’s all you need, just set with powder. I love it perfect for my sensitive and acne prone skin!

I tried a small sample of this and was pleased with the easy application, spread quickly and has a souffle like weight to it. It smells like Calamine Lotion to me tho. Dries a little cakey looking. So I tried again, evidently you have to put on just a little bit at a time to avoid the cakey look. Works well alone, too thick looking as a primer under foundation.
Reason for only 3 stars is the price. $50 for less than 1 ounce is ridiculous for a primer. I’d use it as a BB cream not a primer.

It’s alright but it didn’t do anything special to make my makeup stay on longer or to go on easier. I hated the smell and I’m not usually put off by fragrances, but this stuff doesn’t smell very nice at all. I think for the price you pay there are better products out there. I guess I’m just not a fan.

I’ve worn Bare Essentials for 10 years now. In my 20s, moistuizer alone was a good enough base. In my 30s, things are happening to my skin. I was getting these awful oily patches around my nose towards the end of the day and my makeup was settling into the fine lines under my eyes in a way that make me look old and tired. Despite having been disappointed with other primers, when I got a sample of this, I gave it a shot. Holy jeeze! Finally something does what it’s supposed to. I’m not kidding when I tell you this keeps my make-up glued in place all day and fresh looking all day. I can’t even feel that I’m wearing it though. I have to use a separate make-up removing wipe with my normal facewash now. I can sweat and not have my make-up everywhere. It’s helping my foundation cover even better than before. The one key I’ve found is to apply it to small areas of the face – so instead of getting out one big glob like you might with moisturizer, do small areas. It just dries too fast otherwise and you’ll end up wasting product. It’s kind of nuts what you’ll end up paying for 3/4 of an oz but it works so well and lasts so long that I’m willing to do it. Fair warning, it doesn’t smell the greatest. I saw a number of complaints here about this not mixing well with people’s foundations. It’s worth noting that just like with house paint, you need to be mindful whether the products you’re layering are water or oil-based since those items separate from each other.

I like to use this without foundation. Does make skin tone look more even. Minimises pores and fine lines for a little while and then disappears after the first two hours.

I didn’t like it the first few times I used it. I was using it as your standard primer under my liquid foundation and I think it felt greasy and heavy that way. So I gave it one last try under my powder base, and THAT I loved. I’m now hooked…

Such a great primer- smooths and blurs without being greasy or heavy with a non-comedogenic formula and SPF30. Small tube but a little goes a long way which helps counterbalance the steep price. On my 3rd tube

I have such mixed feelings about this primer. I got a sample sized tube but have been using it daily for about a week so I do feel I can adequately review it. It is quite expensive so I’m happy I had a sample because if I had paid for a full size I would probably return it. The texture is pretty thick, it takes awhile to fully blend it onto my skin. It’s got a nude tint to it but I don’t see any actual color on my face, I also don’t really notice the shimmer many other reviewers mentioned. I see it a little bit but only if I really look for it. Due to it’s thickness it does a decent job of minimizing my pores and the fine lines on my forehead. But, also due to it’s thickness it feels heavy on my skin. I love that it has SPF 30. I hate using separate sunscreen so any product that has SPF is great for me. It also has a fairly strong scent, it’s not unpleasant but if you are sensitive to fragrances you might not like it. I don’t get too shiny with this and it does help my foundation stay put throughout the day. Sounds pretty good, right? So why don’t I love it? It all comes back to the thick, heavy texture. I can feel it on my face, all day long. I use it under a powder foundation and my skin feels slightly sticky to the touch. It’s almost like this just never quite sets on my skin. It never quite blends in, it just sits on top. Despite the many pros I can’t get over how it makes my skin feel, my face can’t “breathe” with this stuff over it. I won’t be buying a full size of this one.
