I own a few of these – on a stick, bee’s knees, drip, sucker. sucker looks horrible and chalky on me- I think I have worn it twice. on a stick is my favorite – it’s a nice corally orange. drip is a pretty mauve color.
the packaging on these is horrible. absolutely horrendous. they are difficult to twist and feel shoddy. so points off for that. they are comfortable and they look nice though.

I am so in love! I have this in “Lolly” and it is everything! This actually reminds me of a slightly cooler, matte version of the Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, which is another HG lipstick of mine. It is sheer, but very buildable and it wears down evenly and has great lasting power. I love the muted wash of color it gives my lips and I find myself reaching for this lipstick almost daily.
As far as cons go, it can be a little drying after a few hours, but wearing lip balm underneath will help to combat that issue. I try to exfoliate my lips regularly, which also helps. The packaging could also be better. I have read many reviews about the product flying out of it’s “home” if you pull the cap too hard, so be aware of that. Honestly, if the poor packaging means I can continue to buy this at $5.50 a pop, I don’t care. I love this stuff so much & the fact that it doesn’t break my bank account makes it a winner in my book. I highly recommend these if you love that sheer, effortless look that the French have perfected.

It appears that Colourpop has once again, discontinued another favorite product of mine. ???? So bummed out, since “Lolly” is my ultimate “go-to” color. I use it almost every day and I haven’t been able to find another lipstick that rivals the shade, its staying power and texture. I really like their Ultra Blotted Lip line, but it doesn’t last nearly as long as their regular Blotted Lips. Come on, Colourpop! Bring back this line and bring back “Lolly!” ????

Amazing lip product. I have the color “Exotic” from the Alexis Ren collab. It’s an orangey-red sheer-ish color. So pretty. It has a soft matte finish and is very comfortable on the lips. It literally looks like my lips are naturally red. Like it doesn’t look like i’m wearing any product, but I just have tinted lips. It lasts like a regular lipstick, but leaves a bit of a stain, and fades beautifully. The packaging looks nice. The Alexis version is a matte black slim tube with the color and name on the bottom. The normal version is similar but white.Mine broke unfortunately. The lipstick fell out of the packaging, but I managed to kind of put it back together. Would love to try more colors, these lipsticks are right up my alley!

Ooooh these are fun. I have On a Stick (matte sheer orange-red) and Ice Cube (matte sheer deep pink-berry). I like both shades equally. I’d say opacity is at a solid 70%, especially since they have a dry (yet silicone-y) texture that requires a couple passes over the lips for even application. So you will definitely get color with these. They’re pretty comfortable to wear – my issue is I have constantly dry lips, especially lately (completely overdid it on the BHA/retinol/actives in general and the drying effects leached into my lips..) and so I ordered these thinking they would be unwearable (I still wanted to try). But hallelujah, they were not unwearable! They don’t even enhance texture or dry spots on my lips, of which there are many. The end look is super cute, very summery, and lasts (not all day but way longer than a regular sheer lip).
Super cheap, I got both for $10 including shipping since there was a sale on. Packaging is functional and pretty sturdy. They kind of double-click closed so make sure you get that second click!

To my understanding, this is a limited edition thing of Colourpop’s so I understand the small number of reviews. But this has been one of my absolute favourite lip products over the last couple of months or so!
This lipstick is very different from many of Colourpop’s other ones because, well, the name says it all. ‘Blotted Lip’. This lipstick is supposed to give you a sheer, natural, just-blotted-my-lips-with-tissue look after applying lipstick. You can definitely layer the lip product to give a noticeably bolder look. I bought all 3 shades available because they are very cheap anyways ($5 per unit) and while each gives a very different look, I love them all. I like how the shades are so different to each other because you can wear a different one depending on the look you’re after. I find that some shades I’ve purchased are more hydrating than others (Deja Vu and Exotic are hydrating; Lexi is a bit drying for me). It’s weird. Doesn’t bother me too much though because I regularly wear lip balm.
I guess the only negative thing about this product is it’s not super duper long lasting. It will wear off during the day, if you eat something or if you drink something. It’s not like Colourpop’s other lip products in that sense.
If you’re recently getting into the cool-girl natural makeup look as a far cry from the whole Kardashian-Jenner inspired contoured makeup look, this is a great lip product to have by your side. But if you want something that’s naturally more pigmented, more long-lasting and more hydrating, these are not the lipsticks’ highest points. Overall, I love them and I wish Colourpop made more lip products like this on a regular!

This is a ColourPop rollout as part of its Alexis Ren collaboration. There are three sheer matte lipsticks that offer light to medium coverage. According to ColourPop these create “a blotted or diffused lipstick look” and the formula is buildable.
I first bought Deja Vu, because I tend to like pinky nudes, and when I tried it I found I liked the formula enough to try the other two. The blotted lip colors, as described by ColourPop, are as follows:
Deja Vu – a pink nude
Exotic – an orange red
Lexi – a cool-toned red
Some reviewers on ColourPop’s site describe the formula as balmy, and a couple others say it’s drying. It’s kind of in the middle, I would say. When applying the formula tugs a tiny bit, but not uncomfortably so. It’s not slick at all, and doesn’t really feel creamy either.
All three are definitely sheer, and I’m light-skinned with neutral/cool undertones, and the Deja Vu works best on me and looks most natural. It’s a slightly warm neutral that’s MLBB. It lasts a good while, provided you’re not eating or smooching. I’ve put it on to go out on appointments and it doesn’t migrate or settle in lip lines. Exotic is an orange-red, but it’s kind of a good middle ground between the two. It could be vibrant and bright if you build it up, but just a tiny bit and it’s a nice wash of warm matte color that looks natural. Lexi is kind of a cool-toned red, and it makes me think of a slightly weaker cranberry color, but the color isn’t weak at all. Even though I’m pale, just a layer of this and it makes my lips just look more red but not garish. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked Lexi, though. Just a layer and it makes my lips look like they’re naturally a deeper tone. It builds up well for more drama, though. (As does Exotic).
I don’t really try to build up the color too much for Lexi and Exotic, though, because wearing (or reapplying) too much lipstick in this formula has the potential to look caked on.
I’d also advise wearing these after lips have been exfoliated, and possibly with the tiniest bit of balm beneath.
There’s no real strong scent with these, and I detect no flavor.
The formula feels nice, and it does grip a bit upon application, like a rougher velvet, if that makes sense. It’s not the most hydrating formula. I don’t find it adds any moisture when I wear it, but my lips don’t feel parched either.
The packaging is nice. It’s a slim(ish) matte black tube, maybe the same width as regular ColourPop lippie sticks, but shorter. The tip is slanted for easier application. When closing the tube I’d advise ensuring it’s clicked shut. If I don’t listen for the snap I find that it still seems on and secure, but that final click really seals it back closed. I don’t think this one, when properly shut, would be too likely to open in a purse or pocket.
For $5 it’s a really nice formula. It wouldn’t be every one’s cup of tea, but I happen to love matte sheer formulas, and this performs much better (for me) than L’Oreal’s pinks collection (which I love, but the brighter shades do migrate). I hope ColourPop holds onto this formula and rolls out more colors. This in a peach, pinky-mauve, a rose, and a couple darker shades would be fantastic.
04/13/17 update: Two small(ish) caveats: One is after some uses the Deja Vu (and I’m thinking the others may do this, too) breaks in the tube. (In my case it broke at the base and rattled loose, hence four lippies instead of five.) I caught what what happening and pushed it back in and it seems more secure, but it’s a bit disappointing that it would break so quickly. I guess that’s due to the drier formula, since lipsticks that are too glossy or too dry can do that sort of thing. And two, after several uses the gold lettering on the side of the tube begins to wear away. That’s not an issue for me, but some people may not like that it rubs off so quickly.
05/01/17 update: ColourPop has released more of these, sans Alexis Ren collaboration. There are eight new lipsticks, ranging from a nude similar to Deja Vu, and there is a fuchsia, a plum, a muted and bright coral, a medium berry — which I have purchased — and there are also two I haven’t, a bubblegum pink and a terra cotta. I think this new rollout is slightly better than the original ones. These come in a white tube more typical of ColourPop’s look. These also tend to break in the tube, at the base. I’d advise anyone opening these to do so carefully, holding them upright so they don’t risk tumbling out. (They’re fairly solid so they can be reinserted fairly securely, but I know this is a deal breaker for some people.)
One nice thing about this line, if people are inclined to it: They blend well with one another. I’ve created some new colors by mixing Lexi (red-orange) with Lolly (a plum) and so on.
These matte lipsticks definitely won’t be beloved by one and all, but I love them.
