   This is perfection in a bottle! I mix a few drops in the palm of hand with the day cream so application is flawless and super easy. Finish with the Chanel CC Cream SPF 50 and get the best ever makeup’s coverage plus considerable SPF since Le Blanc also has 40. Best make up base I ever tried as it color corrects + imparts real light from within.

   I only tried this product twice: one in the pink shade and another in the yellow one. I normally don’t write reviews until I have tried a product extensively, but I wanted to leave this here in case anyone has questions about these two shades and does not have access to samples. I searched high and low for reviews on the shades of this product and could only find one on Youtube. While that reviewer and I have similar skin tones, her experience was very different from mine. I can say right off the bat that the yellow one is not for me. I am Latin, any my skin tone is very similar to America Ferrera’s. I have a neutral undertone that leans yellow, and some of my foundation shades are MAC NC30 and Chanel Beige 30. My skin is combo-oily, acne-prone and I have large pores all over my face. In sum, I have messy skin. Here is what happened when I tried this product:

   1) Rosee – this is the pink one. The formula feels light, non-greasy and a little goes a long way. At first, it seemed like it was going to leave a white cast on my face, but this was not the case. I wore Vitalumiere Aqua in Beige 30 on top of it, and my face looked rosy and healthy. It was a like a fresh tan with a natural glow that came from within, if that makes sense. Very pretty look! I didn’t notice any shimmer or sparkles. I thought for sure that the pink shade was meant for fair skintones, but it looked surprisingly good on me. The coverage was light to medium and I could see my freckles through my foundation, which is how I like it. I applied my makeup at 10 am and left the house. By 11, I needed to blot it, but this is par for the course with me. I had lunch, ran my errands, blotted it once more and checked my face again at 4pm. By then, the foundation on my T-zone had disintegrated. My face still looked OK, but my makeup was starting to fade. I drove 2 hours back home and checked my face again once I arrived. My face looked surprisingly uniform, but it was one shade lighter (?), and this is the way it stayed until I took a shower and washed my makeup off. It was not an unnatural look, but nowhere near the tan, rosy glow I had when I first applied my makeup. In addition, I noticed that some of the product had collected in my larger pores. It wasn’t anything too bad, but noticeable if you took a close look at my face. I don’t know if this was caused by the foundation or the by the primer, so I’ll have to figure that out. I bought a full bottle of this product in the Rosee shade, and hope it will continue to give me that natural glow I saw when I first tried it.

   2) Mimosa – this is the yellow one. Remember the Youtube reviewer I mentioned above? Well, she also has medium skin tone with an olive undertone, and she prefers this one. She stated that the pink one gave her a whitish cast and that it should suit fair skins. Well, I could not disagree more. The yellow one was a disaster on me. It looked sallow, uneven, greasy and all-around unflattering. In addition, it highlighted every scar and freckle I have on my face. Go figure. After testing the yellow one, I was sure that Rosee was the right shade for me and bought a bottle.

   There are two more shades – Orchidee (sheer white) and Lys (lilac). I haven’t tried those, so I can’t say anything about them.

   I guess my point is, you’ll need to try it to find out which one works for you.

   One of my fav primers !

   Unfortunately only sold in Asia so stock up if you’re in the area .

   I use this under foundation & loose powder . It’s good . Saves my skin from irritations . Makes my compact powder after application really smooth !

   I also use it on its own . It doesn’t cover much so I use concealer over my spots and blusher, eye makeup and voila !

   No powder needed if u like a light dewy hue . Not thick or oily because it’s not foundation or B.B./cc cream .

   I’m a huge fan of the classic Le Blanc de Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base base so I was curious about trying the newly re-released Light Creator Brightening Base. This formula was DC-ed some time ago and recently brought back. I didn’t ever get the chance to try the old formula so I can’t compare them directly.

   The Light Creator Base comes in four shades: 10 Rosée (pink – corrects dull, grey, lackluster complexions); 20 Mimosa (yellow – corrects shadowed, uneven complexions); 30 Lys (which is billed as ‘an illuminating shade that boosts radiance’); and 40 Orchidée (lilac – corrects sallow, yellow complexions). The new addition to the line is Orchidée. Lys is the only non colour-correcting shade.

   MY EXPERIENCE (10 ROSÉE):
   For reference, I’m maybe a shade paler than n15 in MAC terms with undertones that lean cool. I have some occasional surface redness around my nose and cheeks and the translucency of my skin exacerbates dark circles and shadows.

   I opted for the Rosée shade which is a very pale pearly pink. I was worried it was going to be super pink on my face and emphasise any redness but it doesn’t do that at all. It’s far more pearly than pink, although I suspect that this would be best suited to cooler undertoned complexions as it may look unnatural on warm or olive skin.

   It took a while for this product to grow on me. I tend to be quite liberal with my use of the classic Le Blanc – I’ll typically use 1.5 to 2 pumps for my entire face. For the Light Creator Base, that amount is definitely excessive – the first time I tried it I was horrified to see that I looked like a light bulb. It’s not whitening, exactly, but it is very, very brightening, true to its name.

   Anyway, my first experience made me pretty wary about using this stuff again (glowing like a light bulb isn’t my look of choice). I started incorporating it back into my routine by mixing it in a 50/50 ratio with the classic Le Blanc. The 50/50 mix worked fine but I couldn’t really discern any major difference between doing that and just using Le Blanc on its own except that I needed less product overall.

   I subsequently started alternating between using Le Blanc and the Light Creator Base (with a lighter hand). And it grew on me SO fast. The key is really how to apply it and understanding its strengths. More on that below.

   USAGE:
   I use this as a primer, applying it right after my sunscreen so it’s basically the first step in my makeup routine. While the SPF content in this is pretty impressive, I don’t like to rely on makeup for sun protection. YMMV obviously. I should note that the active sunscreen ingredients here appear to be physical – zinc oxide and titanium dioxide come up first – so that’s a plus for those of us with sensitive skin. I’ve posted a picture of the ingredients list above for reference.

   Application-wise – make sure to give this a REAL GOOD SHAKE before squeezing it out. It’s basically an emulsion so if you don’t shake, the ingredients will have separated in the bottle. I typically use a little pea-sized blob and pat gently across my face, bringing it up to underneath my eyes. It works really well at giving my eyes that brightened, wide awake look and I don’t need as much concealer as a result.

   LIGHT CREATOR vs LE BLANC (OG version):
   In my opinion, this is a totally different product from Le Blanc and so you’re fully justified in getting both. Major differences detailed below:

   Level of Luminosity:
   I’ll stress again that the Light Creator Base is VERY brightening. Le Blanc is much more subtle in comparison. Neither of these products are frosty or shimmery. What they offer is luminosity and radiance, just to varying degrees. Le Blanc gives your skin a lovely hazy subtle creaminess while the Light Creator Base essentially bathes your skin in a soft halo of light. Both have a very angelic, ethereal effect. However, the Light Creator Base amps it up several notches while still retaining the refined frost-free radiance that makes Chanel bases so special.

   Level of Coverage:
   The Light Creator formula provides a surprising amount of coverage. As in you could conceivably wear this alone if you prefer to keep your base sheer or on good/lazy skin days. Rosée does a good job at evening out my skin tone, concealing any minor spots or blotchy areas, etc. OTOH, Le Blanc is far more sheer and I wouldn’t use it alone without some sort of tinted base on top.

   Consistency:
   The Light Creator Base has a runnier consistency than Le Blanc which is slightly thicker and creamier. I tend to lightly massage Le Blanc into my skin whereas I prefer to gently pat on the Light Creator formula. Both melt effortlessly into my skin and feel virtually weightless. They also both play well with all my foundations. No pilling or patchiness at all.

   Sun Protection:
   The classic Le Blanc Multi-Use Illuminating Base doesn’t have any SPF whereas the Light Creator Base packs a hefty punch of SPF 40. I personally don’t care too much about this but if you do a lot of flash photography, the zinc oxide in the Light Creator Base may be a potential issue. I should stress that I haven’t worn the Light Creator Base in photos yet so this may not be a major issue.

   PACKAGING/SCENT:
   The Light Creator Base comes in a squeeze bottle which isn’t ideal for me (I prefer the glass pump packaging of Le Blanc). The dispensing mechanism is a little hard to control so use less pressure. Scent is a tad less strong than typical Chanel products but def still present.

   OVERALL GRADE: A+
   I’m absolutely delighted with the new Light Creator Base and it’s safe to say that it’s joined my permanent roster of staple products. No, it has not displaced Le Blanc from my illuminating base pedestal haha. But I can say for sure that I’ll be keeping both of these Chanel bases on hand from now on.

   24/08/17: Bought Lys! Stunning opalescent pearly cream. Orchidee is VERY purple, I recommend swatching first!
