My hair is very thick with coarse waves and this does a great job straightening it. I straighten my hair very frequently and have owned this for about 2 years now and have no issues with this so far. It features adjustable heat settings and a swivel cord (which I like). It heats up pretty fast taking less than a minute. If you have very thick hair and are looking for a stable reliable flat iron, I would recommend this one. I think it cost around the $180 CAD price range from Trade Secrets which is not cheap but not too expensive either especially considering that this is imo a high quality flat iron.

I have medium to thick very wavy hair that is quite full and on occasion I will flat iron it. This tool makes quick work of that and has variable temperature settings that go up to 450F. I use the 400F setting and it is effective on my hair to give it the sleek straight look that I desire. The unit heats up very quickly (less than 1 minute) and the plates are smooth, gliding over my hair without pulling or snagging. I’ve used this to add additional wave / curl to my hair and it does an equally effective job of that as it does straightening my hair.
Costs ~$200 CDN, a little less when on sale, but it’s a good quality unit. It outlasted my other flat iron and outperformed it too. I’ve used this on family members and friends with different type and texture of hair than mine, all with great results. The most important feature in this sense was the ability to dial down/up the heat depending on the type of hair so it didn’t damage it. My daughter’s hair is silky soft and much finer than mine (although she too has a lot of it) but a much lower temperature worked well without adding time.
The blades are easy to clean (when cool, wipe with a damp cloth, or use rubbing alcohol to remove product residue) and in the 5+ years I’ve owned this, it still looks brand new, not a scratch on it.
