Shampoo bar is such a great idea. I came across lush with the intention to reduce my plastic usage. Took me a while to ‘master’ the perfect way to use it in the shower.
I find that instead of running the bar directly on your scalp/hair, by rubbing and wetting one side of the bar on my palm and running the soapy fingers through my hair, the bar lasts much longer. And you only need to dry one side of the bar when you store it, if you know what i mean.
The only downside is that lush products are so costly in Singapore! Its $25 each!
I bought 2 more in different scent to stock up when I visited italy where they sell it for £8. Love it, and will continue using this as long as they still makes it.

I’ve been through several of these bars as a regular backpacker:
Seanik (gorgeous light salt floral scent, odd seaweed chunks are easy enough to pick out)
New! (Delish cinnamon scent, definitely saw reduction in hair falling out – I usually comb enough hairs out of my bushy mop during bi-weekly hair washes to make Cousin Itt cower in fright, with a few uses of this, maybe 5 hairs a wash!)
Squeaky Green (bits of herbs in my hair every wash, delegated it to washing my laundry, annoyingly still left bits of herbs on my clothes enticing one fellow backpacker into thinking I had weed. No)
Godiva (Not really conditioning enough as a 2-in1 for dry hair like mine, but definitely more moisturising than the regular ones, delightful sexy jasmine scent)
Ultimate Shine (light scent, probably better for less dry hair types)
Jumping Juniper (this was my fave during my greasy head teen years! Too drying for me now though)
Montalbano (yummy citrus scent, the new less SLS formula ones are definitely less drying on the scalp)
Honey I Washed (ditto Montalbano, but honey scented. This and Monty and probably my favourite ones now)
Irrestistable Bliss (discontinued – had a gorgeous floral scent, bright pink bar and my very first one, wish they’d bring it back with a less sulfate formula)

Also have Braziliant ready to try on my next trip, and will probably get Copperhead too someday and heck, maybe Lullabye and Jason and the Argan Oil too…
One lippie off because some of these can be dryinggg on the scalp, and can cause dandruff if I let my scalp get too used to them. So I change it up with a regular shampoo (Organic Care moisture something, Aussies get on that, its the beige bottle at Woolies/Coles etc, its cheap and almost a dupe for Moogoo, with a better lather. I also use Mane n Tail, Moogoo and Lush’s Curly Wurly if I have it) so I feel they lather a little too much – although that means a little goes a long way so I shouldnt complain.
TRICK to drying them out, dont get them suoer wet in the shower, if you have the tin or a regular soap travel thingo, let them dry out on that for a little while and don’t put the bar in the container if it’s very wet, it will turn to goo and you will get less use out of it. If you let it dry out, they last ages.

These shampoo bars and the conditioner I bought will SAVE my travel experiences because security took my shampoo.
They lather BETTER than my favorite shampoo, don’t build up, leave my hair soft, contain no cones or heavy conditioning agents, rinse out completely, and keep my skin clean.
I’m hooked. Too bad Lush doesn’t retail in common stores because this means I have to find a store or buy online.
I find fewer hairs in my brush with the shampoo bars and none of that leftover gunk! For those wary about bar soap for hair: it’s not really soap. It’s a highly concentrated ACTUAL shampoo. You won’t need as much per use and your hair will be nice and clean. There are tons of different bars which correspond to your hair needs so just ask the sales person or read the catalogue.
I’m a shampoo MANIAC so when I say this changed my shower experience, you can believe it. Presently, I have the lemon clarifier Montelbano
I want to add that you don’t have to divorce yourself from all your favorite conditioners or leave-ins to use these soaps. I still have my Pantene detangler, Overnight Miracle, and some argan oils. But Lush thoroughly washes them out, leaving my hair very clean. Every time I return to a liquid shampoo, I end up regretting it and apologizing to my Montelbano for cheating.

I’ve been a big fan of these shampoo bars for about four years now. I usually go for NEW (lovely cinnamon-y scent) but have also tried Soak’n’Float (does the job) and Jumping Juniper (cleans my hair squeaky-clean). The upsides are simple: the bars are easy to use, they lather nicely, and are very convenient for travel. They can also be pretty gentle on the scalp, though during wintertime I found NEW fairly drying.
The usual LUSH downsides apply to some of their solid shampoos, like the presence of fragrances that may be too overpowering for some people’s tastes. The price can seem too high until you realize that one bar will last you about 60 washes, probably more. Another con for some people is the presence of a sulfate, even though the product is mostly natural otherwise.

I love LUSH! Although I am a noob (have honey I wash my hair & Brazilliant for shampoos w jungle & the big conditioner as conditioners that’s my collection oh & tins for all! Coz I’m retentive like that). These pucks are amazing! I was a little surprised go see them shrink as much as they did from a few washing but I will get more coz I love how they make my hair feel. One wash w a Lush shampoo bar cleans my hair better than what I was doing 5x washing w a cheap DS shampoo. My hair feels stronger & seems to air dry faster. These smell amazing! They live in their little tins but upside down in my shower to keep from sticking. Would make an awesome gift (make sure u buy a tin w it) for any world traveler I’m so done with my DS shampoos I will use a clarifying one maybe one a month. With Lush I can get away w washing my hair twice a week. And no longer is shampooing a long involved process of drudgery! Yay! I’m sold!!

This is a review for the shampoo bars in general. I was snobby at first, Ive always used salon brand shampoo and I would never give a second thought about using a solid shampoo from Lush. I thought they wouldn’t work, or mess my hair up, I thought it was kind of hippie like or just usable for camping(which if I did go camping, I would sleep in a cabin or an RV! Not traditional camping like being completely in nature). I gave the shampoo bars a chance and Im very impressed, very happy with these.
My hair profile: Very long(almost hip length), straight, thick(lots of hair and thick in diameter), lightly colored, oily roots, ends have the most damage, daily usage of heat tools(blow drier&curling iron)
So far I have tried Godiva, Ultimate Shine, Seanik, Montablano, and Karma Komba. I actually like all of them! If I had to pick one, it would be Montablano because I feel like it gives me a lot of shine, brightens, it cleans thoroughly, it smells fresh, my hair has some volume and it’s still in healthy condition(it does everything pretty well). Going on smell ALONE, I would choose Godiva because it smells like jasmine and Im crazy about jasmine scented anything. It’s also the most moisturizing of the bunch.
What they ALL do is thoroughly clean my hair. clean my roots, getting rid of all the junk, build up, greasiness, dirt, etc, they are all decent clarifying shampoos. They all smell fantastic in their own way. They all give a sort of shine to my hair. None of them damage my hair or leave my hair in knots and they all leave my hair(roots/scalp specifically) in normal condition. They are so cheap considering they last a long time(many washes&months just be sure to let it dry or not siting in water) and they are extremely portable friendly.
These shampoo bars all work for me. I am a type of person that likes to have the shampoo clean&clarify my hair(that’s what shampoo is for) without damaging or over drying or leaving my hair in knots and then to have the conditioner/mask/treatment do all the heavy moisturizing&repairing. The shampoo bars achieve all of that. I do NOT recommend these shampoo bars to people who need extra moisture, lots of moisturizing in the shampooing step and or people that need a light&gentle cleansing shampoo. I’m guessing this would be women with thick, coarse, curly/wavy hair. All I can say for fine/thin hair is that my mother has fine thinning hair(she has balding spots and self conscious of it), she loves cinnamon so I gifted her with the NEW shampoo bar. She was skeptical as well but she ending up loving it and her hair! Im not saying her bald spots grew back but her hair that she does have looks better and she’s happier with it. This is a women that only uses Matrix Biolage shampoo and she set that aside afterwards.
Very long review for a small looking hockey puck! Overall I love these, I use these, there are many different kinds, they do work, I think the shampoo bars is a genius idea and for most people including myself, could possibly replace regular liquid shampoo(although I do love LUSH’s Cynthia Stout Beer shampoo too!). I recommend these!
