This product has earned its place as my favourite eyeliner. I’ve been using it for over a year, while always trying new eyeliners (I can’t stop searching for great product!), and this always wins. The colour best suited to me is chocolate truffle, and it never bleeds, or gives me raccoon eyes…even during this very hot summer in Toronto. The only time I sometimes run into trouble, is when I layer other eyeliners with it – then the other liners run. I don’t use a primer, and rarely use eyeshadow, so this eyeliner is able to stand on its own. It’s on the pricier end for sure – I buy it at Sephora for $35 – but it’s worth it to me not to look like a mess within an hour of putting on my eyeliner. Until I find something better, this is the one for me.

i buy this, because i thought it will work better than that bobbi brown eyeliner in the pot
but, it’s so fragile, it’s so easy to crumble
pigmentation is ok, but i feel like i can get the same result with drugstore product

This is the best eyeliner I’ve used. It’s easily applied and doesn’t drag on your skin, the colour (chocolate truffle is my fave) is natural and long lasting. I don’t have to reapply throughout the day and better yet, it doesn’t smudge! I have oily lids and this is the first pencil I’ve used where I don’t end up with panda eyes after a long day. It is pricey but lasts for AGES! I can’t imagine myself using another brand

Bought this for the convenience of applying eyeliner in a pencil with the longevity of a gel. Unfortunately this pales in comparison with the version in a pot. It glides on easily but it’s not as black and even with an eyeshadow primer, it transfers.

meh. bought this one in “pitch black” and it wasn’t anywhere near black enough. also didn’t like the formula — not glossy/shiny enough. the gel eyeliner in the pot is much better than this pencil, but sometimes (especially lately) i don’t feel like using the liner brush. oh well. i’m returning this one.

I absolutely am in love with the bobbi brown gel liners in the jar. I have been wanting to get a pencil for those days when I don’t want to spend a lot of time on my eyeliner. So I got two of these, steel grey and chocolate truffle. I am so disappointed these are definitely not as awesome as the jar liners 🙁 The gray doesn’t feel like a true gray…more like a muted black. The brown is almost too dark like a blackish brown. I wish they were more true to their color. They don’t last long on me either. I do have oily lids so any creamy liner doesn’t last long but I had high hopes for this since the jar version lasts all day on me.

This is one of the best pencils I’ve ever had.
I usually despise using a pencil to line my eyes. If the lead is soft enough to apply easily and smudge a bit, that usually means it’s not going to have much longevity, and the alternative is something dry and scratchy that tugs when you apply. I don’t like having raccoon eyes (having my eyeliner smear under my eyes). So I thought I was done with pencils forever. I am a huge fan of the gel Ink liner pots in Bobbi’s line, and I have been on the hunt for the perfect liquid pen. I had all but forgotten pencils. I still prefer Ink pots for the top lid but I prefer this gel pencil for the bottom lashline. I’ve had this automatic retractable pencil for a few months and would definitely buy other colors, and even repurchase this one.
PROS:
Several beautiful colors. I have this in Violet Night, a really wearable bluish purple that is almost black with the tiniest hint of shimmer. It doesn’t have the obvious bronze gold shimmer of Scotch; it’s more noticeable when you swatch the color on your hand than when you apply around the eye.
It looks good hours after I apply. This and Marc Jacobs gel eyelining crayon are the only pencils I’ve ever had that don’t smear into soot under my eyes. (I’m talking about normal use, not rubbing your eyes a lot and swimming.) This formula is great. Now I want Chocolate Truffle, too.
Bobbi’s pencil is fully retractable – swivels up and down.
The lead is thinner than the Marc Jacobs crayon, which is better for me.
Soft enough to glide on, but doesn’t smear easily.
CONS:
$25 is pricey but since this is the ONLY pencil I like for eyelining, I’m willing to pay it.
Once you lose that initial virgin cone (the shape of the tip when you buy it new), even with the sharpener on the other end, you can’t get that perfect point back. So it’s less precise than eyeliners you apply with a skinny brush.
Bobbi Brown is part of Estee Lauder, so they don’t have the nicest policy on animal testing.

After reading the other reviews, I think that, perhaps, the eyeliner has undergone some revisions since it is not a pencil that needs sharpening but is an automatic liner that you simply twist up as the liner is used. No sharpener needed. This is my first time using a BB eyeliner and this is a keeper. It is thin enough to apply easily and it stays put. No running or disappearing throughout the day. I purchased this in brown and the brown is a good color for my brown eyes. I’ve bought so many eye pencils in my search for a pencil that it is easy to apply, is a shade of brown that complements my eye color and doesn’t run or disappear and I think I’ve finally found the perfect eye pencil in BB’s Gel Eyeliner.

When these Perfectly Defined liners came out I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of shades, and I purchased Black Violet, Steel Grey, Scotch and Sapphire. Initially these liners were relatively easy to apply, without too much drag on the lid. I liked the concept of an in-built sharpener at the opposite end of the pencil, no searching for a pencil sharpener. About six months into using these I have to say that I still like the shades, especially Scotch, a neutral bronze and Steel Grey, a medium cool grey. However, I will not repurchase for the following reasons: The sharpener is completely useless, no matter how careful I try to sharpen the tip all I get is a broken off, blunt tip, quite the opposite of “well defined”. At that point, the liner piece that broke off is stuck in the sharpener and needs to be pried out with a sharp object like a needle. Needless to say, no bueno. So once the initial conical shape of the tip has worn off to a blunt top there is no going back and it is hard to create a decent line with that non pointy tip. $24 is too much for a subpar product and my eyeliner search continues.

I wanted something that wouldn’t drag on, so I’m not always pulling on lid and lashes. It was important to have something I could smudge a bit too. This eyeliner smudges well for a natural line, but it doesn’t come on as easily as I hoped for the price. Loreal’s mechanical gel liner was interchangeable (I’d rather neither now). The violet was pretty, but closer to slate than purple. Nice, but nothing special, and not for what you pay. If you’re in Sephora with my agenda, grab urban decays’s 24/7
