I’ve had a sample of 7 Day Volume for many months from a Walmart Beauty Box but was a afraid of using it after reading reviews. I have straight, fine, limp, thin hair. Highlighted and cut into a A-line bob. To get any semblance of body or volume, I apply root lifter and blow dry upside down, then carefully lifting hair in sections while using a round brush and teasing some on the top and sides after it’s all dry. And then I have a hot flash and it all goes FLAT. Boo. Well, not anymore! Tried this product yesterday, I mean I have nothing to lose, so why not? Followed the directions on the bottle, in the shower after shampooing I starting off with a dime-size amount of the lotion, starting at the roots, making sure to work through to the ends. Added a bit more product (less than dime size) for the back. Waited a few minutes, rinsed. Styled as usual but this time my hair is awesome! It’s shiny and looks like I actually have hair on my head like normal people 😀 I wash my hair daily, same body and volume today after washing. It’s not dry or frizzy AT ALL, just super smooth, shiny but has body and volume. I’m really impressed with this product and wish I would have tried it sooner.

Although I really could tell this made my already thick hair have more volume, it’s not worth how bad it dried it out. BAD! I’ll probably throw out whats left becuase it’s just not worth it drying my hair so bad. I had to go buy a deep conditioner to calm down the frizz and crunchiness it felt.

Wow, a hair product that actually delivers what it promises! I’m not sure what made me buy this, since I’m usually disappointed. I have baby fine hair and most products leave my hair limp and greasy-looking, regardless of claims to the contrary. This volume treatment works! I was a bit alarmed the first time I used it because my hair felt kinda slimy when it was wet and I thought it was going to be a complete disaster but I was very surprised with the outcome. Yes, my hair had a noticeable “coated” feeling — I’m totally fine with that, since the end result is looking like I have double the amount of hair. I have to shampoo daily so it doesn’t last 7 days, but it’s still there 4 shampoos later, which is pretty good performance. I don’t find that it dries out my colour-treated hair. Bonus — I don’t need to use detangling conditioner for a couple of days, saves me a few minutes. Love, love, love this stuff!

This product definitely gave my fine, layered, mostly-straight hair lots of volume. It left my hair and scalp feeling super grungy, though. Dirty-city! It felt gross just to run my fingers through my hair – like it was soooo textured from this product that my fingers had trouble moving across my scalp. I liked the volume but was so put off by the grunge factor. I might use this for a special occasion when I wanted major va-va-voom hair, but not for frequent use.

I first received this as a sample in a subscription box and then purchased the full-size version. I have thinning at the crown and this is one of the few products where I saw a noticeable difference after using. It doesn’t provide lift but makes it look like you have thicker hair. I use it twice a week as recommended, but I only apply it at the crown where I need it (this also helps me save money). When I rinse it after applying, my hair feels filmy – like conditioner that didn’t rinse out well. I know some users have complained of dryness afterwards; I haven’t experienced that in the two months of use. My hair still looks as shiny as before and I haven’t noticed any difference in the outcome of styling products I use.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it does do what it claims to do — I have very limp Asian hair and this treatment does thicken my hair and give it more volume. But it does dry out my hair and has a very chemically gross smell. I received this as a sample and I don’t think that I would buy it for regular use. However, if I had an event to go to where I need a quick volume boost to my hair for one evening, this treatment is cheap enough that I would pick up a bottle for single or short term use.

Most of the preceding reviewers are spot-on. I wash my hair every day, so I use this twice a week. It doesn’t give me massive volume, but just enough that the other products I use (root lifter, volumizing mousse) actually do something. I don’t feel any residue in my hair (as long as I don’t use too much and rinse it out properly), and I haven’t had any problem with it drying out my hair. I had first gotten this as a deluxe sample in a subscription box, and eventually bought a full-size bottle, which is under $10. Unless I get a sample of something else that works better somehow, I’m sticking with this.

I really like this product!! I have used many products that promise volume and I’ve always been disappointed. This does the trick and is drugstore to boot!! Yay!! There is a trick though…(and I can’t stress this enough)…do not use too much or your hair will be gunky. I’ve re-bought several times–and I’m as product fickle as they come!!

I like this. It made my hair have a little more volume than usual but more importantly it really helped my stick straight hair hold curl better! For that alone I’ll use it. It doesn’t seem like it made my hair much less shiny or dry like I feared. The only drawback is that it did make the short frizzies on top stand up a little but some smoothing cream took care of that.

If you have thin fine hair this product is not going to give you shampoo commercial kind of hair. However it like me you do have hair that needs to be thicker then you might want to try this product. It does help and the fact that it lasts over several shampoos is a plus. I followed the instructions and blow dried my hair the first time I used it . The second time I blow dried my hair until it was just damp and then also used my blow out cream. The two together really made a difference. The price is reasonable around eight or nine dollar but you get many applications so that is certainly affordable. So don’t expect a miracle but if you are like me, any help that I can get that makes my hair seem thicker is welcome. I didn’t use the other John Frieda products ( shampoo, conditioner, and mousse) with this as they suggested. Perhaps you might want to try that. This product is paraben free, at least I didn’t seem any listed in the ingredients.
