   SONOMA Goods For Life is a candle and melts line exclusive to Kohls and it’s absolutely worth checking out if you love fall candles. Quality-wise, Sonoma is on par with Bath and Body Works, but for less money, and their fall lineup is knocking it out of the park! The line has some brilliant apple/spice/pumpkin/vanilla candles that I’m betting would win multiple blind sniff tests against BBW. This scent in particular, Crackling Cedarwood, is both gorgeous and *unusual*, in that the dominant notes are a warm vanilla and – get this – the sweet aroma of pipe tobacco. There is “cedar” in here and though inexpensive candle brands do poorly at replicating wood notes, usually wood notes end up smelling like cheap men’s cologne, the cedar that Sonoma uses is on the sweet side. Thankfully still, it’s a backdrop note in this candle. What I get in order of appearance is gentle vanilla, like melted vanilla ice cream, and warm, sweet pipe tobacco. Farther down the line are hints of leather and a *faint* touch of smoke and men’s soap. This is no-doubt a sweet candle scent; it’s cozy and warm, like a deep well-worn club chair that holds the embedded fragrance of grandpa’s pipe. If you find BBW’s wood scents to be variations of men’s cologne and want something milder and sweeter, give this a try. Throw is almost a 7 for one wax melt. I can easily smell it throughout the downstairs and it’s not fighting for attention.
