Please be very careful before using this product for rosacea redness. It works for about 8 hours, then sends you into misery with rebound and making the redness and flushing much worse than baseline. There is a small minority, going by reviews, who do OK with this product but the majority has their rosacea worsened. I had 24 hours of full face burning and flushing and sunburn-coloured redness after use. Check hundreds of reviews of Mirvaso for rosacea here in this post I made, tracking reviews over a long time, and they are mostly negative. Be warned and informed before using this cream

Six days since Mirvaso was prescribed. Day one: applied in the morning. About 20 minutes later saw a very noticeable diminishing of my facial redness. About two hours later, wow! Can’t remember my skin being such a normal color for at least 15 years. So thrilled. The result lasted all day and night. Day two: woke up with skin still not flushed, applied the same as day one (very thin layer). Same result progress, though it seemed perhaps a little less dramatic. Could have just been my perception. Day three: woke up again with no pink face, applied the same as the prior two days. After about two hours I felt a little strange, lightheaded. Then I felt my face tingling, odd. Asked my colleague (on a business trip!)’ “is my face red?” She said my cheeks were bright pink. I looked in the mirror and was shocked, both cheeks were bright red, much deeper than my normal flushing and not my usual pattern. Then just as quickly as it came on the color went away. Completely. Was flush-free the rest of the day. Day four: same application. Same result as day three, two hours after application felt odd, lightheaded, cheeks turned bright red. Lasted approximately half an hour then went away. Totally went away. So I started strategizing how to apply it early enough that this rebound effect would occur before my work day started. Yes, the reduction in redness otherwise was so awesome that I was determined to stick with it. Then that night, about 12 hours after application I felt my face getting hot. Looked in the mirror, sure enough completely red face. All over, not just cheeks. Like a bad sunburn. Uh oh. Spent several hours online reading about mirvaso rebound. So depressing. Day five: did not apply. Was flushed, not too bad when I woke up. Went to salon for hair cut. During blow dry my face turned BEET red. Very embarrassing, much worse than ever. But it went away after about 30 minutes. Throughout day five I had about 5-6 “episodes”, intense flushing with relatively rapid diminishment. Day six – today. Woke up three hours ago with pink face, it went away. I am red again now as I write this. I’m very worried about this. Several high profile events over the next two weeks. I hope it normalizes quickly. Things I’ve read online have not been very encouraging though. I will call my derm in the morning and ask her a) why she didn’t mention this possibility, and b) what can I do to recover?

I have super-oily skin with both acne AND rosacea (lovely!). I have redness, flushing, and swelling, which seems to exacerbate the oiliness and create sebaceous hyperplasia. I’ve used retinA for years for the acne, then later developed rosacea, which runs in my family, then started using doxycycline 20 mg/2x/day, which helps control inflammation and bumps, but doesn’t prevent the flushing and swelling. Some people in my family have rhinophyma, and that is really scary looking.
I read about the Mirvaso and was nervous about rebound effect (like Visine-type eye-drops). However, I was getting tired of the flushing, swelling and heat in my face, which seems to stimulate the oil glands and creates more bumps. Also, my face flushes and swells a LOT more after a bad IPL tx (wrote a review on that). After IPL, my face even started to emit tiny drops of what looked like blood out of my pores here and there. A very bizarre symptom for which no doctor had any answers. It started after the IPL, stopped for months, started again. Never had it in my life before IPL. I figured it couldn’t hurt to try the Mirvaso.
It’s $290 w/o insurance, HOWEVER, Mirvaso has a program where they will give you a discount whether or not you have insurance. With this discount and my insurance, I can’t recall the exact amt but I know I spent less than $80 for a whole tube. You have to go to the Mirvaso website and print out the coupon.
The product is a translucent gel w/ no smell. The tube is weird because it has a press and twist cap you normally only see on pill bottles. It’s a bit awkward to use but not impossible.
I’ve now used the Mirvaso probably 13-15 times. I’ve used it 2 days in a row, every other day, and skipped a week in between. So far, I have not noticed any rebound flushing or rash regardless of the interval.
When I apply, I use a tiny, tiny blob on each area and then blend. You have to be careful to apply a thin but even layer ALL OVER, except lips and around eyes (I do not apply within orbital bone). If you skip a spot, you will have pale skin except for one red blotch where you didn’t get any product, and you can’t tell if you missed a spot until 15 minutes later! Be careful to not get any one your lips, and wash your hands after applying. If you get some on your lips you will have a pale blotch on your lips.
After application, I see the red fade in blotches – it does not fade evenly at the same rate all over. I look quite blotchy for a good 15-30 min, at which point it takes full effect all over. It’s funny to see your skin tone and color w/o all the background redness. I look waxy pale yellow – basicaly the skin tone and color I had as a kid.
The reviewer who mentioned that her skin looked “glossy” made an interesting observation. It does seem to constrict pores as well – my skin’s texture, which was fine before IPL (only limited areas of somewhat enlarged pores) but after IPL looked like giant, deep pores in more areas – does look better w/ the Mirvaso. It seems to constrict everything, not just blood vessels. It seems to also help reduce oiliness a little bit, maybe just by constricting the pore openings and blocking the oil from coming out, which would not be good, or maybe reducing vasodilation also reduces the oil stimulation – I don’t know. All I know is my skin looks smoother, the pores look smaller and I see less oil on the surface of my skin over the course of the day.
Mirvaso cannot constrict blood vessels that have already burst, so your general redness will fade, and any temporarily dilated blood vessels will too, but those that are broken will stay there and may appear more visible because there is no background redness to mask them.
On me, the effect seems to last fully for about 8-10 hours, then it fades gradually, so for example even the next morning I am still not quite back to being as red as I was before. So far, I have not experienced any negative effects. I am concerned that continued use will result in blood vessels that do not constrict any more, or become more dilated, but I have not yet seen that. For that reason, I am not using it every day.
For those who have gotten those large rosacea bumps that persist and leave a red mark w/ telangectasia around them, I have found that the Mirvaso seems to help reduce the redness and help them fade faster. I had one large very dark red bump that was inflamed for a long time, and developed a cluster of telangectasia from all the inflammation. Using the Mirvaso has definitely help fade the red mark, reduce the bump, and the telangectasia cluster that I had feared was permanent looks lighter and smaller in area, even after the Mirvaso wears off. I am thinking that the vasoconstriction from the Mirvaso has helped reduce the excessive inflammation and maybe interrupted the overgrowth of blood vessels and that has helped it fade more and faster.
The jury is still out on long-term effects and effectiveness. It seems we always hear years later about some adverse effect of a new drug. I do worry that the body, over long term use, will up its dilation and growth of blood vessels to compensate for the vasoconstrictive effect. For now, it is a very welcome relief for days when I need to minimize overall redness and inflammation, and for treating those dark red rosacea bumps.

My dermatologist recommended and prescribed and my insurance copayment was $50. If I used it every day, I imagine it would last a couple of months because it only requires a tiny pea size on the affected areas and spreads thinly.
This really does work–there are definite results with me, although it might vary with some.
I have had rosacea for 20 years, and with my fair skin, it can get intense. I have had laser treatment, tried metro gel etc, all to no avail. (meaning, only a slight help at the most).
In summary:
– My rosacea is mostly on my cheeks in varying capacity, with a baseline that can expand. I have a few of the pimples, but just a few bumps.
– It’s pricey, so I only use it when I’m going out (my rosacea hits harder at night). General day use I’ve been happy with green concealer and light foundation coverage.
– I also use Retin-A nightly and a Vitamin-C serum daily (DIY)
– It goes on thin and “sticks”, meaning, you can slightly feel its presence, but it’s not bothersome,
– You see results in 15 minutes, and final results in 30. I took pictures of myself when applying to one side, at the start, then 15, then 30 minutes in, and it is obvious.
– On me, what it got rid of was the “general” red–so what it leaves is what I think is baseline, which can appear blotchy because what it did get rid of might be in and around that. But I don’t mind! The red has been reduced drastically, and that’s important.
– I still use green concealer and foundation, but now, no red “seepage” and a much smaller, more finite area to coverup.
– It also reduces the “heat” that emits from the redness, which is nice.
– I also applied my C-serum after 30 minutes and it seemed to not have any affect.
– Reappearance was anywhere from 6-8 hours
– I had no rash afterwards, like some people had.
If your insurance will cover it, I highly recommend trying it. It is worth the $50 copay.
Note: Mirvaso does not “cure” rosacea rather, it temporarily alleviates the redness and heat enough to use every day or on occasion. It is “symptom removing”. To me, that is a miracle.

I am a 32 year old female with mild rosacea which manifests in mild redness with pimples and pustules. I have permanent baseline redness, but it isn’t that significant or bothersome; my cheeks are more rosey than beacon- red.
I have used Mirvaso only once, and following my experience I will never use it again.One hour after applying Mirvaso my skin was perfectly clear and even- toned.A miracle! I couldn’t stop looking in the mirror(vain,I know!)
But alas,it was too good to be true.
The following morning a nasty rash appeared around my mouth.After lunch I started to flush like never before.But oddly,it was only on one side of my face and in a triangular patch.Very,very odd.
Now,48 hours later ,the rebound redness is starting to fade. I advise others to proceed with extreme caution if they are considering using this product.

I haven’t been diagnosed with rosacea formally but have worn foundation forever to mask the light pink hue of my skin. This product has blown me away. I have been using it now for a week without any problems. I apply it in the morning then layer my sunscreen and moisturizer over it and use less foundation for sure. As previous reviewers mention, you really do watch the redness blanch out of your face after a half hour. I work out and sweat almost everyday and this seems to have no effect on Mirvaso – sweating doesn’t wash it off or decrease it’s effectiveness. I also use retin – A at night and there is no problem with that either. FYI, Mirvaso is applied in the morning so they aren’t layered together anyway.
There is very little smell to the product and it has the consistency of a very light moisturizer. Because I’m always playing with products, or make up looks, clothes, etc. my poor husband is OVER beauty interrogations – however mid sentence (totally unrelated/unsolicited per his opinion of my “new skin” shade ) he stopped me with a stumped look on his face and said that my skin looked a LOT different and that he’d not noticed in our 25 years together that I’d had pink skin until it was gone. So…there aren’t any negatives I can report about Mirvaso except for the price with is NOT covered by my insurance. My tube will probably last me about 3 months but maybe that’s wishful thinking. Oh, and it cost me $290.00 My only other thought is that I’m not noticing the profound difference in my skin I first did, but I think it’s because I’ve just grown used to not being pink anymore. With that said, I’d better get a job fast because this product is an absolute keeper and I hope it brings others the “goods” it’s brought me.

I started using Mirvaso about 2-3 months ago. It has been a total blessing!! The other reviewer here is right in saying that you can literally watch the red disappear from your face. Some people online were mixing Mirvaso with moisturizer before applying it. My skin is generally dry so I tried that too. The mirvaso still works great and it helps to control my dry skin. The Mirvaso was really easy to mix with the moisturizer and goes on very smoothly when applied. You have to make sure that all red areas are covered, otherwise, you will notice where you missed. It usually lasts for about 8-10 hours. I haven’t used it everyday, especially if I’m just sitting at home. For people with rosacea, this is the best treatment ever developed.

Mirvaso is the new rosacea cream recently approved by the FDA. My dermatologist prescribed and my insurance covered it. My copayment was $50.
I have had moderately bad rosacea most of my life, and have tried most every treatment. I actually didn’t have big hopes for this cream — until I literally sat there and watched the red disappear from my face.
Couple of notes:
1) My rosacea is mostly very flushed cheeks, chin and nose. I don’t really have bumps or pimples.
2) It had no effect on broken capillaries around my nose, which stood out even more against really pale skin
3) The paleness looks a little blotchy and slightly unnatural, but that may just be me staring into a 10x mirror. I doubt anyone sitting across from me would see it.
4) That said, I probably wouldn’t go out without some sort of foundation on my skin after using it. On the plus side, the amount of foundation I need is cut in half.
5) It also made my big pores much, much smaller. My skin looked glossy.
6) The packaging is a little funky, it’s a tube with a press and twist prescription top. If you grab the tube hard enough to press the cap down the cream comes pouring out when you lift it off.
6) The redness started coming back after about 6 hours, but it was pretty gradual.
7) It is not a treatment for rosacea that will make it go away over time, but it does do a heckuva job controlling its symptoms for me. Especially helpful since the Retin A I use to treat both rosacea and other skin issues makes me even more red.
I tried it on one side of my face first and the comparison with the other side after a half hour was remarkable. I tried to take a picture but my cell phone just could not get the kind of detail where you could see what was happening. But the photo from the Mirvaso website loaded above is the closest I could find to what mine looked like.
The only other thing I’ve ever tried that had as big an impact was regular ILP laser, which is very expensive and time consuming. Not to mention somewhat painful.
I instantly started reading other people’s reviews on the Rosacea boards. Not everyone had my experience, some got even more redness. Other people look super blotchy, or start itching. I did not experience these things.
In short, I have a whole cabinet full of green concealers I use for rosacea that I hope I will no longer need. I had the prescription for a while and just didn’t expect it to do much, but I finally picked it up today and tried it. It had quite a miraculous effect on my skin and I would recommend trying it to anyone who shares this problem.
