I’m with the bunch who say “soapy”, though for me, that’s not a bad thing at all. I don’t know whether I have the italian or German version, I understand that affects sillage and longevity, but anyway, mine is average. detectable from up close or if you’re moving around a lot, but not like it leaves a trail and not in any way overpowering. The floral and powdery notes are not very noticeable to me until almost drydown, that’s when I finally pick up on it’s warmer and elegant aspect, though it’s gentle and close to the skin-that’s when it smells comforting, stylish, and like a “woman” to me. Otherwise, i agree with whoever said it smells like a clean bathroom, and I’m all about that clean bathroom smell lol. Surprised people recommend this for an evening out as I personally find nothing I normally associate with an evening out about it. I do agree despite the soapiness it’s well on the “womanly” side, and a safe fragrance imo. I mean, worst case scenario you’ll smell freshly showered so it’s hard to imagine it offending anyone, at least if used moderately.
It isn’t glamorous or shockingly good to me, it’s just…wearable and friendly in that I can’t see myself feeling nauseous from it. I’m a clean and cleaning freak so I’m biased about its “just washed” character. But the more you wear it, the more it’s enticing, comforting, elegant notes start to present themselves as it’s main features. Truly develops like a fragrance is supposed to, albeit in a light, demure way.
I also find it a fabulous fragrance to mix with other scents, especially if you want to lend an airiness to them. I find the floral note is reminiscent of lilly of the valley, or linden blossom, or violet even, and enhances other perfumes well without adding to any possible stiffling effects (perhaps even takes them down a notch).
I don’t necessarily see myself repurchasing (it’s close to impossible to find these days anyway), but I do think I will use it occasionally because I want to have a spritz of it available for when every other smell feels cloying and sickening and I just want something clean, light and airy. I find it excellent for extreme summer heat, but am personally not averse to using crisp fragrances in winter either.
I especially appreciate this scent seems to have an intimacy with the wearer, sometimes you have to sneak under your own shirt and sniff at your chest to get that reasurring scent made feminine by body heat and chemistry, so to me this isn’t a fragrance you flaunt and disperse, and even if you did, on the surface, it’s just a shower scent anyway. catching the other notes requires much more proximity and physical contact.

My favourite parfum. I wish D&C will relaunch it.
What do you think, how do you wish that something like this happen to you? It’s pretty sad.
photo credit: It began one year ago, when we found out that, based on the fandom, some very nice people had designed the tongue-twisting frill. It’s still available today.
It didn’t end well for us. We’re glad it’s available and happy we tried. Hopefully, the next event on social media will be sponsored by Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to talk about a future show that keeps some people in their imaginations.

If this column starts down well, then Gatchaman has one final idea for the episodic events to make new great sci-fi: a Deathwatch.
And there you have it, the Halloween Series #1 answer to the question “What have you done since that last question?” I’ve got something for you.

Lol fruity floral oriental….have you ever heard of aldehydic?? Smells like this one! This is an absolute success of a perfume. The balsamic and aromatic scent that has a lovely sweety and soapy drydown. Thats how we want it, i feel more Italian while I am wearing this 😉
My favorite perfume by the way, not exactly a pink peacoat…the white puree gives this a very lovely floral aroma. Ryoji is really a wonderful scent. This is a warm woody honeysuckle with the build up of that sticky wisp you get from lupin and vanilla scent. It is not pretty but it doesn’t feel bad in that department.
this scent reminds me of amber. the base is bergamot, lilac amber & vanilla with light pine and herpicks. you got lupin and cappuccino, #1 with this creamy floral oriental blends and #2 with incense. i think this is ok for now.
a lime like scent. lupiny and carmine scented with lilac, sage and gemmunk. it riiight have some notes like it was made with [one of my favorite lupins you can buy]. also I would love a little dilution of evirtex, evirtex is a super sweet stuff…kisses lemon clove, may or may not be your thing if you live in an exotic tourist town. if not, it’s better than vodka
made my first impression of lupin with the first time I tried it. It was in this aromatic vine with a lovely citrus tang and some aromatic juniper that I needed it for. I ended up getting it almost immediately. Good seasonings. A bit of sweet cinnamon and an air of sweetness. Some light musk, some notes of vanilla, a hint of date cardi, and a tiny bit of citrus. basically anything you want from this blend. This is no darker than other lupins but still a cool smoke that makes you feel the hour you put it in your mouth. not terribly much to be ashamed of. 😉
NOTE: make sure you check out the other reviews for reviews from others that have done interesting things with this blend: Lavender Apple, Horny Boar Root, Birch Rock Clover, Ranch Lace and Bombay Sapphire – these all have similar features which I love to talk about in reviews from other blend reviewers….also note I am a huge fan of Ryoji but no one likes to smell a perfume that is made in Italy. It’s a small dincture which you would use on steaks. but let’s say. (plus, you’re a blue egg color so a

Wearing this makes me insanely happy. Back in the day, I worked at a gift shop that sold Crabtree and Evelyn glycerine soaps. The lime was to die for, and the top note of this reminds me of those lime scented soaps. Fresh on the heels of citrus comes a very green accord like ivy, and the dry down is sweetly woody. Caution: this is a BIG fragrance will lots of sillage. Be mindful of that if you are going to be around the Felix Ungers of the world, so you don’t trigger their asthma and migraines. Very good warm weather fragrance.

I really enjoy wearing Red Cap. I got a used bottle off CL in the parfum de toilette concentration, and I must say, I’m kind of apprehensive about trying any other form (deodorant parfum, edt, etc) because the PDT is so good.
At first, I thought it was extremely strong-I put one spray on my foot, went to a meeting, and was aware of this heavy frag permeating the room the whole time. Now, I use two sprays, but only right out the shower, so it can settle down and peek out through my clothes. I should mention the lasting power as well-I have put this on in the morning, then worn long-sleeved tshirts, and still smelled it on my bed two days later.
ETA 2/3/14: 3rd attempt at an accurate and comprehensive scent/note impression. I still say sparkling aldehydes, sweet basil, a secret blend of flowers, and sexy powder/soap, but I want to add: womanly, not girly, warm and complex, sharp, commanding, reliable, one of a kind. Hard to believe this was D&G’s first frag. Also still, you’ve got to try it and see what your skin does with it.
My sister likes the new version (pour femme) and that one smells fine, but it’s pale in comparison. Pour Femme starts raspberry sweet, adds powder, then adds maybe 1/128th of Red Cap to the mix. If you like oomph, go for the original.
I bought the matching body milk off ebay, and although I was worried it wouldn’t smell as strong because it was made in Germany (they say the ones made in Italy are superior strength-wise) I think it adds a good base layer of scent. It isn’t very moisturizing however-my skin looks good for maybe an hour but then gets ashy again. I also managed to try the deodorant spray and find it to be extremely light sillage and strengthwise-even for such a light concentration of scent as deodorants typically are. So far the PDT remains supreme.
I was worried my bf wouldn’t appreciate Red Cap since he’s chosen lighter scents I’ve worn (Butterfly, Light Blue) as favorites in the past, but it has worked its magic on him as well 🙂
ETA 2/3/14: No longer my go-to scent, but probably top 2 out of my top 5. I don’t want to burn my nose out on this so I take breaks, use the edt for daytime and save my pdt for night. I bought a backup pdt and am considering a backup for my backup.
ETA 3/5/15: My vintage pdt is still faring well, though I’ve noticed the top notes have faded a bit. I miss the basil beginning, but this scent still makes me feel womanly-clean and strong and powerful-and I don’t know any others that can replace that.

Despite the fact that I came too late to the party and found it didn’t smell good on me years ago, I now LOVE this fragrance! I had the newer version 2012 released last christmas and it is sweet. Smells like marshmallow’s which is fine but after a while I just didn’t warm up to it ! Tried the red cap and fell in love with its fresh seductive scent. Staying power for an EDT AMAZING! I am so sad that I have fallen in love with it now that it has been discontinued…… Why did they stop making this? It’s a very feminine fragrance, if people call this dated, i wouldn’t rather smell dated than sweet like all the new fragrance releases over the last 10 years. I don’t want to smell like everyone else! This is a real gem and men love it!

In the 90s I worked in an office where one woman wore this exclusively and heavily. You could always measure her proximity by the scent. At the time I thought it was interesting, yet slightly repellent – she just oversprayed, so it became tiresome.
Years later and after educating my nose a lot more, I thought I’d revisit. Damn, it’s good – one of those strident, fulsome scents that is nothing but its own bad self. There is a brief gasoline-like topnote, settling into a solid mass of dark, resinous and slightly bitter beauty. Can be very polarizing, but I love it.
It’s recently been reformulated and had its sharp little teeth yanked. The new ‘Pour Femme’ is pink and innocuous. The old red-capped bottle is anything but.

Beautiful scent. I smelled it at Ulta and had to go home to buy my bottle off of ebay (where I get most of my fragrances at a great price). Yes, it’s “mature” but that doesn’t mean “old lady”, lol! I agree that it’s difficult to distinguish one particular note, but it doesn’t matter because it’s the overall combination that counts…. and this smells clean, lush, slightly sweet, and sexy as hell. Definitely an alluring scent:)

D&G for Women brings to the fore one of the great perfume debates: soap or no soap. I happen to like soap, both the smell of most actual soaps, and “soapy” notes in perfume which are typically (though not always) connected to white musk.
D&G for Women is a soapy white musk over a soft floral powder heart, lightly touched by vanilla in the base and citrus (mostly lime) in the top. It opens with green and citric notes — lime the most prominent. Under that are soft aldehydes, very light florals (rose, jasmine) and white musk. In the base, there’s ubiquitous woody notes (probably sandalwood) and a nicely restrained vanilla.
What this means, in short, is that the overall impression is soap, flowers, sweetness, and clean skin. Used with a light hand, this could easily be mistaken for powdered, clean skin. Used with a heavy hand, D&G for Women, and indeed most fragrances using white musk, might well be unbearably stabby.
I think it’s beautifully composed and quite pretty, and once the initial geen note (which can have a faint feel of skank) softens, it’s reminiscent of Adrienne Vitadini, though the latter is more vanillic, incensey, and powdery.
EDIT: HOW did I miss the leather in this! Solid black-leather-jacket leather in the base – and I don’t care whether Fragrantica or D&G list it in the base. There’s a solid leather note here.

My signature scent since my late 30s for nights out mainly as it may seem a little heavy for day (I tend to opt for D & G Feminine instead). It makes me feel sexy, alluring and special when I where it. It lasts for ages and always attracts comments from both sexes. It’s just a gorgeous, intoxicating smell.
