The reviewer below, ‘child of the moon’ describes exactly what I was about to say, so I won’t reiterate.
If you prefer wearing the rare to the commonplace, if you like supporting a perfume house that’s the oldest independent family run, since 1730 in England, a rarity in itself, read on. If you prefer natural ingredients (when possible cruel ingredients such as ambergris will be synthetic and good thing too for whales) when possible and a real tradition of perfumery, of which they’re masters, handed down from one family generation to the the next, Floris maybe for you.
Knowing how reliably great is the ages old reputation of Floris, I bought White Rose, at random, untried. Also knowing that Emma, Lady Hamilton wore this, knowing her reputation for ravishing men’s senses, my oh my, swayed my choice. Wearing Floris, one is never going to smell cheap nor loud like so many I pass on the street, screeching trumpets of stinkers, the fumes more comparable to insecticide or deodorant. Floris scents are exquisite alchemical formulae, never brash nor loud but enhancing, sirens rather than strumpets.
White rose smells fresh and sultry, not overt but more sultry as a result and recently I mistook the scent on myself for the smell of white roses from my garden, lusciously creamy, natural and heady, it’s both comforting in the drydown and sensual.
(Edit: for those interested, I love the history of scents, their biographies, acolytes etc, have recently found out that HM (our Queen Elizabeth the second) wears this scent & when one considers how legendarily attractive, dashing & handsome Prince Philip was considered while younger, the girl did good & maybe this scent was a tiny part of the arsenal that drew him to her, it worked for Lady Hamilton).

Creamy white rose petals combined with sparkling aldehydes, other flowers and some subtle sweetness. There is something about White Rose that reminds me of Agent Provocateur’s Maitresse, and having compared listed notes for both of these fragrances I see that they share several of them. If you are familiar with Maitresse I will only add that White Rose is rosier and smells more genuine/natural and fresh even with its musky aura.
But even though this fragrance does have a distinct white rose note, it is far from being traditionally rosy or overbearingly sweet. On the contrary, the rose here is delicate, musky and a bit soapy without being heavy. I am yet to discover a white floral fragrance more elegantly composed than this one.

Lovely rose scent that doesn’t produce a headache. That says a lot, trust me. Not sickly sweet, not sticky rose, just a pleasant natural rose scent that reminds me of mum-in-laws roses in her garden.

I really did like White Rose in the way a person who’s normally not a floral person likes a floral sometimes. I may end up purchasing it just because some days I feel like a floral for a change and I don’t want anything fruity or watery so for that purpose I generally gravitate towards relatively pure florals. But something tells me I should hold out for a floral so special. Wait for “the one”. Until then, this is a very nice perfume that tempts me every once in a while..

Floris White Rose is very similar in fragrance to YSL Paris, particularly the Springtime series; Bois de Rose and Rose Enchantees. It’s a little fruity and light — lemony and luscious. I love it. Wouldn’t mind a full bottle at all.

This is a lovely rose that smells similar to Floris’ China Rose, but works on me while CR doesn’t. White Rose is China Rose without the dank, musty dry down. It pushes the cloyingly/sticky sweet envelope, and does this very well for me. Actually, it’s a flip of China Rose in that it starts off stinky and musty on me but then soon turns into sweet and slightly spicey. I might have to change it to 5 lippies if it grows on me anymore. I have the EDT, and I’d LOVE the try the EDP! Update: I was addicted to this for several days, which means it’s “5 lippies worthy.” I had to sneak sniffs and apply repetivitly. White Rose caused this borderline behavior in me; this is what it takes to earn “5s” from me.
