I have tried my fair share of facial oils in the past, but even though I have usually dry skin throughout most of the year (except summer) I was never able to make oils work.
However I used to be in love with the Trilogy Rosehip Oil. It was the only oil that worked for me until one day my skin changed and it wasn’t able to absorb the rosehip oil anymore. I’m not sure what happened or why and I tried to mix it with serums and moiturisers to make it easier for my skin to absorb it, but nothing worked. So I gave up on oils and just used thick creams and lots of layering of skincare products to keep my skin hydrated and moisturised.
Then I came across the Olivarrier Fluid Oil Squalane and I decided to give this a go, since I was going to make a video on cruelty-free Korean skincare on my Youtube channel. Anyway, I wasn’t expecting much, since this is a relatively small and unknown brand. However this brand is cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, which sparked my interest.
The Fluid Oil Squalane is supposed to boost hydration and prevent damage caused by free radicals. It’s made with 100% natural ingredients and is free from artificial fragrances and chemical ingredients.
This oil blends into the skin really easily and even my stubborn skin is able to absorb this product without a lot of trouble.
I absolutely love this product. Finally I have found a face oil that works for my skin again and I couldn’t be happier about this.
I prefer to use this product as part of my nighttime skincare routine and in the morning my skin just looks so soft and hydrated.
The Olivarrier Fluid Oil Squalane is on the pricier side, but a little goes a long way. 2-3 drops are enough for the entire face.

Great, moisturizing oil for people with oily/acne-prone skin. Cruelty-free!
I am very oily in my t-zone, but prefer to use oils to moisturize at night instead of cream (which I use during the day). For several years I used Jose Maran’s Argan Oil Light. It was a little heavy, and I later found out that Argan oil really loses it’s beneficial properties with exposure to oxygen.
This oil is great for night because it is very light, soaks into my skin instantly, doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, and all of the beneficial properties of squalene are preserved despite exposure to oxygen. This squalene comes from olives, and contains bacteria-fighting properties which has definitely helped to combat my hormonal breakouts. I don’t layer this with another cream at night, but it is even lightweight enough to use during the day if I’m feeling dry. I wake up with an incredible glow and very soft skin.
PROS:
-lightweight, non-greasy but hydrating
-bacteria-fighting properties
-cruelty-free/vegan and hypo-allergenic
-plastic bottle (great for traveling) and precision dropper
-reasonable price point ($42 USD for 30 ml)
CONS:
-may need to be layered with another cream, if you’re feeling extra dry
