Smooth, creamy, no tugging, nice pigmentation. What’s not to like? I got the shade Uptight, which is a pinky brown nude and perfect for my skin tone – dark enough to add definition but not harsh. Throwing away all the losers in my collection.

I LOVE lip liners. I’ve always worn them, even before the resurgence of their popularity. My lips are quite pigmented, but they have an area still part of the lip shape but without pigmentation, so they are literally begging to be “over lined“ – which ends up being about 0.5 to 1 mm outside pigmented region of my lips, but never ends up looking like overlining because of what I was trying to describe – hope that made sense. I also like lip liners because they help avoid migration of color and help lipsticks last longer or can be useful in changing lipstick colors to cooler or warmer or darker etc.
Long story short, I have tried lip liners from all kinds of brands and price points, and I love the urban decay ones especially for the color selection. The twist up tape and the sharpening type are not comparable so I will try to compare these two other pencil type liners. For relatively neutral colors, Charlotte Tilbury tends to be my favorite, and I also like the Mark Jacobs twist up ones in MLBB shades. UD also has some lovely pinks and nudes – Like rush, which has a little bit of shimmer and I love it – but what I have from urban decay in my stash are mostly bright or dark colors: streak, wonderland, 714, bittersweet, venom, and blackmail. (That last one is my favorite almost black berry liner, and seems to look good on anybody). I have dry skin and dry lips, and these are pretty creamy and not drying, although I do keep my lips moisturized well. I can fill my lips without pulling, and the shades I have are not patchy. For precise edges, you will need to keep the liner sharpened, but that is true for all liners and I don’t find this one to be difficult to use. I don’t find it hard to control. Some may not prefer the creamy texture, but I don’t mind. Dries very quickly and lasts a long time. I’ve gotten some good deals on these when they have them in sets, although the price point isn’t unusual for the quality and the product. They have the same amount of product as Mac pro longwear, mufe, Charlotte Tilbury etc. but the pencil is a little taller I think. If you have multiple colors like I do, it is easy to find what you’re looking for because the pencil is colored entirely. I like about this product that the shades perform similarly, at least the ones that I have tried. Sometimes the formula changes but I don’t find that to be the case with these. I think the formula is generally pretty similar with other long-lasting liners like this – I’d say Mac prolongwear is least creamy and quality varies between shades, Charlotte Tilbury is in between and I think less pigmented. Texture wise in my experience MUFE is the most similar, although the Ud might initially feel more creamy. The only other one I have found that is more creamier than this or some shades of Pat McGrath, which are also awesome, but more expensive and you go through them really fast. I’m not entirely sure why, but Charlotte Tilbury I also run through faster. I don’t go through these nearly as fast, I’d say similar to Mac pro longwear and MUFE. Hope the comparisons help though of course I haven’t tried all shades from all brands, so I can only speak of the ones that I have used.
This product has been around for a while – probably a “senior“ item in makeup release years. I hope they don’t mess with it and try to reformulate or something. Ain’t broken so I hope they don’t try to fix it.

The best lip liners. Lipstick or gloss will not bleed. Lots of staying power if you fill in your lips completely.

I got this lip liner in Native after seeing a makeup artist use it in a video. It’s the most beautiful, milky pink color. I use it to line my pigmented lips and also to fill in. If you love Nars’ Turkish Delight you will love this color. I’m glad I saw it in the video because I probably never would have noticed it otherwise- but this is sooo beautiful. The color lasts a decent amount of time, and it’s a soft pencil so it’s not hard to fill in the lips. I can tell I will have to sharpen the pencil a lot though and will go through it quickly. Perfect to layer with lipstick or just light pink gloss for lasting color. I’m NC30 (medium tan) but the model wearing this had much lighter skin. So suitable for lots of skin tones. Love.

I have this in Rush and it is the best lip liner I have ever tried. Once applied, it stays put for solid 8 hours and longer. It is the only lip liner performing so well without any sort of a primer applied beforehand. Furthermore, it never oxidizes and the colour remains true until removed (or worn off eventually) even when applied as a lipstick, which is how I also use it. It is my perfect nude colour with a hint of shimmer which I sometimes use it to define my lip line and leave my lips naked, creating perfect nude ombre lips look. Additionally, it does not dry my lips, so there is no need for an extra overnight lip moisturising treatment. Perfect.

I’m sorry, these are just too soft to be a liner. They might be great if you want to fill in your lips with a pencil, but not for lining. Liar I found browner and tad darker than MAC Whirl, and Rush has quite a bit of sparkle and was surprisingly cool on my lips, versus when I swiped it on my hand. But overall, I really disliked the texture of these.

Fantastic liners. So creamy despite being a waterproof/long wearing liner and highly pigmented with a wide range of colours. I don’t worry too much if my lipstick wears off after a meal because the liner stays put. I have Bang to match with my Hourglass Riviera which is a tangerine shade, Venom to match my plums like Hourlgass Empress, as well as 69 and Bad Blood to match my warm and cool toned reds respectively. I would have scooped up their deeper nude liner if it wasn’t for the fact that they were sold out (and there was no sample for me to try) at the various Sephoras that I visited. Definitely worth the purchase(s)!

I love it. I was actually on a hunt for perfect lip liner and this may be it. Glides on so smoothly and stays amazingly long. I can eat and drink and even kiss and it’s not going anywhere. Only complain is that it’s a little hard to sharpen.

Wonderful lip liner to use! One of the best lip liners as it is an all rounded for: Shades, Longevity, Creaminess, and Pigmentation.
If you are a sucker for nude/skin shades, Urban Decay has you covered. Naked 2 seems to be like a popular one for many, but for me on my golden tan, MAC NC40 skin, the shade “Broken” was perfect for me. I have pigmented mauvey-,brown-pink lips and Broken matches my lips exactly so I could go slightly out of the lip borders without being so noticeable. I like to shade in my entire lips too for extra coverage.
Very smooth, creamy, doesnt skip. Comfortable to wear. It is pricier than drugstore but cheaper than many higher end brands. The formula reminds me of Shiseido’s lipliners which I also love for its super creamy texture and pigmentation, but Shiseido has very limited shades and much more expensive.
I would buy again! I plan to buy more lip liners from this brand in different colors.

Liar is the only lip liner color I can use. If Sephora/Ulta are out when I run out I am in bad shape. This has happened a couple of times so I now hoard it. Only four stars because (1) it does not stay on very long and (2) sharpening it eats it up too fast. Also, $20 is a little expensive considering how quickly I go through them.
