Bought this as it was on sale at Lawtons for 30% off and of the good review here. This is a mistake. I thought it was a pretty good powder when I first put it on, but as the day went on, I find that this powder has started cracking around my nose which I have never experienced before. And what’s worse is that the powder starting clumping in random spots on my face! And makeup also started disappearing from and around my nose after a few hours. I looked like a zombie at the end of the day! But as I do with other makeup as well, I always give second chances. Tried this the next day again and the same thing happened again, this is just going to my makeup graveyard. Such a shame because it does look good right after I apply this to my face, but that doesn’t last more than an hour.

My favourite drugstore setting powder that I’ve tried. Looks good as an underage bake too. I get flashback mary in photos with almost any setting powder but this one isn’t too bad.

Great stuff! Great price, great wearability, and easy to find. I find that this stuff does a better than average job of mattifying my skin, and doesn’t cake up when I do my daily touch-up at lunchtime. Where I’ve been the most pleasantly surprised, however, is how this powder applies beautifully under my eyes with no creasing (for reference- I’m in my 40’s and have some crease lines under my eyes, and pat on (“bake”) a pretty thick layer of this powder under my eyes, using a dampened beautyblender, to set my concealer and prevent my mascara from giving me raccoon eyes) and remains flawlessly smooth WITHOUT me having to use an under eye primer. That last fact alone has secured my devotion, but it’s a pretty good powder for all the other reasons too 🙂

I bought this sort of impulsively because I love NYX and ulta was out of the makeup revolution baking powder I was after. It isn’t my exact shade, it’s a bit lighter than my skin but it isn’t noticeable unless I use way too much. I have a feeling that flashback with this powder might be horrible, though I haven’t tested that yet.
It sets my makeup well and it mattifies my skin just as well as my kat von d powder, so it does what I need it to do. It works fine as a baking powder or just as a loose powder, though I prefer translucent powder around my eyes. It doesn’t do a lot to blur fine lines or minimize pores so there are definitely better powders for that around the same price ($9.50) if that’s a concern for you.
Overall I’m not unhappy with it. It’s cheap and why spend more money on a loose powder than you need to.

This stuff keeps my t zone under control for way longer than if I went without it. Beware baking with it though, as it accentuates my pores and can be drying. Not that much for the price, however if you want to be matte for longer, it’s worth it.

Great powder. It gives a very natural finish and makes your face look flawless, and is very lightweight but lasts nearly all day (even for my oily skin). The container is huge so it should definitely stay at home (not good for packing in your bag for a mid-day touch up), but the good thing about that is you get a lot of powder and it lasts a long time. You don’t need to use very much since it’s so fine and soft it just glides and spreads evenly over your face. A big plus is that it also prevents my foundation from looking ashy. Fantastic product.

This is a great inexpensive mineral powder. I have it in the lightest shade and was a little nervous it was more yellow-toned, but it’s so sheer that it doesn’t alter my foundation color in the slightest. I’ve also noticed it does a good job of blurring my pores, better than the HD finishing powder (which is still pretty good).

I have the Finishing Powder in Hanae, and I also have the Radiant Finishing Powder in Sedona. I never do touch-ups, so I only apply makeup once in the morning and then that’s it.
Hanae: This is a lightly tinted translucent setting powder. I find that it helps set my foundation and helps it last longer. I love this setting powder. I have found that as I’ve gotten older, my skin is far less oily than it was in my 20s. In the summer, I will usually apply Paula’s Choice Matte primer to my T-zone before putting on my foundation.
Sedona: If you have tried bareMinerals, they often sell value kits that include a reddish-brown powder called “Warmth” that is billed as an all-over face color. I think that Alima Pure’s Radiant Finishing Powder in “Sedona” is sort of comparable to BE’s Warmth, although I never repurchased Warmth and I like Sedona better.
You definitely don’t want to over-apply this, but a tiny amount used judiciously will give you a healthy glow and helps ease the transition from a summer tan into winter. Alima Pure sells the Radiant Finishing Powder in a smaller container than the other Finishing Powders, and you only need a tiny amount — I’m talking like a few tiny specks, because I have fair skin (Olive 1.5 in the winter).
I tend to use Sedona more like a contouring powder so my face doesn’t look flat, although you can use it as an all-over powder like Warmth, or like a bronzer. I only use a very, very small amount each time. I have the bareMinerals Heavenly flat face brush, which I really like for applying Sedona Radiant Finishing Powder.

Alima Pure Satin Finishing Powder is a nice product. It has its purpose, however.
This finishing powder, in my opinion and experience, does nothing for oil control whatsoever.
But it is a rather beautiful finishing powder. It is definitely a ‘satin’ finish – it has an ethereal glow about it, that a lot of people won’t find suitable for everyday wear. I rather like the finish, as my face can sometimes look a little flat – the glow of this powder is a nice pick me up. After a few hours, it really ‘melts’ into the skin and the glow dissipates a little.
Overall it is a nice powder – some might find it more suitable for special occasions as opposed to everyday or workplace wear.
My only gripe is that it could be a little longer lasting, and have better oil control properties.
If anyone is looking for a nice mineral finishing powder that is more matte with decent oil control, try Laura Mercier Mineral Finishing Powder, which still has a bit of a glow to it, or Youngblood Mineral Rice Setting Powder, which is matte without being flat, and also doubles as a primer.
EDIT: My skintone – equivalent to MAC N/NC-10/15 (neutral warm, pale, with surface redness). I use Alima Pure Mineral Finishing Powder in Yuki.

i am a HUGE fan of alima’s foundation. so i bought a couple of samples of the finishing powder in yuki, which was the shade recommended by the website. i wear neutral 1 in the foundation. for my everyday look, i wear only the foundation; it has good coverage and finishes very creamy. BUT on days when i wear the finishing powder, my skin looks flawless. even my hubbie commented that my skin looked “airbrushed” when i used the finishing powder on top of the alima foundation. he’s very hard to impress and even harder to get a compliment out of; so i knew i had something with this powder. it looks kinda greenish in the container, but goes on smoothly without a hint of off color, cakiness or weird talc-y texture. how alima makes powdered mineral products that don’t look powdery on the skin is beyond me but i will be repurchasing for sure!

I have tried this powder (got a sample) in a darkish-shade for my skin (Hanae), and while it is really finely milled and apply smoothly with the proper brush, it has a “glowy” finishing that I do not like – makes me feel oily ans shiny just by the looks.
I like my powder to be matte and stay put all day, absorbing oil.
This is not a powder for very oliy skins.
In addition – sorry for being a bummer – my eyes cried all day (and the only change in makeup was the Alima powder), I am probably sensitive to that powder and I noticed it hurt my eyes right upon applicaion. So be cautious. To me, a no buy – no use at all.

I have samples of the Mineral Finishing Powder in both Light Yellow and Cool Beige and I am somewhat disappointed. I love Alima’s foundation, primer powder, concealer, blushes, lipbalm, etc. but this finishing powder is a disaster for me. I have quite dry skin so after applying Alima’s mineral foundation my complexion looks fine… glowy but not too glowy and definitely not too dry/flaky. The finishing powder disappears into my skin color-wise, but makes my face look super shiny and the effect does not disappear over time (i.e. if I wait a while after application the shine doesn’t go away). I don’t understand why this powder that is supposed to absorb oil makes my dry face look like I sprayed it with Pam but I have tried it numerous times and always get this result. I have found that topping my Alima foundation off with a light dusting of NARS loose powder keeps my skin looking perfect all day so I will stick with that.

I have oily/combo skin and LOVE Alima foundation, but I cannot really see a difference when I use the Mineral Finishing Powder in Light Yellow over my foundation. I used it for 3 days but can’t tell a difference, so won’t repurchase. It’s not a bad product, but it just doesn’t do much for me. I’m a big fan of Alima, but this is not their best product. I recently bought the Satin Finishing Powder, I prefer it much better.

I love this finishing powder and use it with Signature Minerals foundation. I have an oily T- Zone and have to reapply in the middle of the day to keep the shine at bay, but I have to do this no matter what powder I use. I love the silky texture and have found several colors that work well with my skin tone.

I fall around NC 40-42 in Mac.I have this powder in medium-dark.The powder Is very sheer AND slightly lighter than my skin-tone so it doesn’t make my undereye concealer less bright: it works to set my whole face.
This is matte but not super matte. I would say the finish is demi-matte for lack of a better term. It’s also hardly detectable if used with a light hand and it’s also slightly blurring. The way I use it, which is dusting it all over with an oval brush, DOES NOT keep me matte. My skin is quite oily though. I haven’t tried baking with it but powders that are mostly silica often are not good for baking imho. I will try to load on more powder next time to see if It can keep me matte for longer.
This does not extend the wear of my makeup on my t zone but sets my under eye concealer very well. I also wish it was more matte. I want my t-zone matte darn it! I think I need a powder with more talc, or Kaolin or rice powder, or some super strong microsponge technology. This doesn’t cut it for me. I WILL try baking my tzone with it to see if that works better and update! 😀

Overall Its a good powder for most people. If you have VERY dry skin or VERY oily skin (extremes) then I would look elsewhere.That said you could do A LOT WORSE than this at the drugstore. Most drugstore powders I’ve tried cannot be used to set the under eye when you have wrinkles or without it looking heavy.

This powder is good but not necessarily for me because I tried it to set and/or bake my undereye area and basically it changed the color of my concealer to a slightly darker shade. It does reflect light nicely and it looks and feels smooth in person and in selfie cam BUT not in flash because of the flashback. I also used it to dust my whole face with different brushes and that didn’t really hold up for the work day. I also tried it with Mac fix+ and it sets smoothly. I’d buy again only if NYX found a way to keep it from oxidizing my concealer and foundation.
