I tend to prefer a natural/neutral nail for work and Essie Mademoiselle really fits that bill. It is impeccably polished, professional and sophisticated. One or two coats are all one needs. I would describe the color as a natural-looking ‘milky white blush’ that dresses up the hand perfectly. It doesn’t have that “French manicured’ opacity to it, it looks very natural.
I will be wearing this often and would definitely purchase Mademoiselle again.

In the bottle it is a pink with a touch of peach that’s still neutral. It’s really quite pretty. You won’t get bottle color on your nails though, so if you’re expecting that you’ll be disappointed. It’s a lot more sheer, but really pretty.
1 coat goes on very sheer and is barely there but pretty and clean. Unlike some colors that start to streak (Essie Ballet Slippers), this one does not start to streak as it dries. It went on very well in one coat, but is not pink, just milky (over milky basecoat, but regular is fine too).
2 coats go on really well. It’s sem-sheer with a bit of a jelly feel. I wish all Essie nudes and french tones went on this well. It’s easy to work with, doesn’t patch or streak. It’s still not pink or bottle color, or opague. But milky with a more neutral tone, that is less white. I really like it in 2 coats.
3 coats also go on really well. Zero application or streak issues, perfect. A little more of the pink comes out and it has a deeper, more gel like look. I like this, but those that don’t might want to do 2 vs 3 coats (either is good). It’s clean looking and natural, not the bottle pink. I love it!
This one is a keeper and a rebuy. For a cheaper alternative (not a color dupe though, but in the same family) try Wet N Wild’s 2% milk, it has a similar look on the nail and applies beautifully. If you like how this one applies, also try Essie Allure, it is lighter and more sheer, but applies well.

It’s a very pretty neutral color that goes with almost everything and appropriate for any occasion. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for me. For me, the maximum wear length is only a day and a half before it starts chipping. With a top coat!
After doing some research and a comparison to other brands wear time I found out that all nail polishes with Ethyl Acetate as a primer ingredient do not last on my nails. (Ethyl Acetate is a solvent that is famous to be used in nail polish removers)
The brush is too thin for a flawless application and the polish itself dries too fast in the bottle.
Can’t recommend.

My all time favourite nail polish brand and colour. This polish has stood the test of time. Mademoiselle the colour will take you anywhere, anytime. If in doubt, wear it. Essie is my nail polish brand preference. I have found it to stand up the best against chips and wear and tear. I am very hard on my nails and don’t baby them all.
I don’t use gloves when washing pots and pans and doing housework. Essie is the easiest polish to reapply for me, when you do need a touchup or are giving yourself a manicure. Mademoiselle, won awards I believe for 12 years in a row for the colour. Unless I need to wear a bright orange colour to match an outfit, this is my go to choice every time. I always ask manicurists what brand they find the easiest to apply. I usually get Essie as the answer.

This is a really chich rosy nude. i love how it makes me look put together. It has decent durability (on its own it isn’t as pretty as with a clear top coat).

Essie’s Mademoiselle belongs in the nail polish Hall of Fame! It couldn’t be any better. I use many colored polishes (OPI, Sinful, Butter of London, etc.), but for a nude, glossy manicure this is the very best. No streaks like the dreaded Ballet Slippers (also Essie) or Sinful Colors Easy Going. It goes on easily, streak proof, the texture of the polish is excellent.
I use two coats and Seche Vite as a top coat….my nails but better! This is the ultimate for well cared for, immaculate nails.
ETA: The bottle that is pictured is NOT Mademoiselle…..MLLE is a true colorless nude.

I agree ballet slippers gloppy streaks! I gave up nail polish for awhile never able to find a natural pink. This is it almost clear but a hint of color. One coat works for me lasts almost a week and I’m a legal secretary typing filing the works. My husband even said my nails look nice. Holy grail for me. If you want a short natural polished finished look this is it.

Let me sing my praises for this nail polish. I’ve tried ballet slippers from essie as well (the iconic one) and the streaks drove me insane. This polish however, goes on like a dream! No it will never become opaque but its a lovely sheer with just a touch of pink to it – “my nails but better”.
But honestly its so sheer that it’s quite dummy proof to avoid streaking. I was ready to give up on essie polishes after the disaster of ballet slippers but this one has rekindled my love for essie! Such a gorgeous and classic color.

You gotta love this color.Definitely a my nails but better look.It has just a hint of pink. You will never be able to get this opaque, but who needs to.There are plenty of pink opaque polishes.I like the way this looks on my pale skin.Makes my nails look great. No problems with streaking.Went on like a dream.A beautiful classic polish.

Love, Love, Love! This works amazingly on my fair hands (with a pink undertone). It perfectly nails the “natural but way better” look. It is a translucent white with a hint of blush. It’s very easy to apply and doesn’t streak. Two layers is good enough. Definitely my go-to polish for the natural look.
