The best if we speak about natural deodorants.
I sweat a lot, due to stress, whether, etc. and my staple is Vichy with green cap. However I’m aware of the controversy regarding aluminium salts so tried to switch to something less harmful. In my case neither drugstore nor pharmacy deodorants works to combat the B.O. Same thing with other natural brands like Schmidt’s or Fat & the Moon (the sodium carbohydrate puts my armpits on fire).
This one works. Believe me. You may sweat but you won’t smell. And if used regularly, it also combats over-sweating. I tested in dueirng stress, heat and still no B.O.
The scent is lovely, mixed mint, lemon and herbs. Totally unisex. It fades a bit during the day, but still works.
p.s. now it’s called sage min deo.

This product works really well for me. Never feel smelly and it doesn’t get on my clothing. It is expensive but worth it for me.

I miss anti-perspirant. I sweat. A lot. But alas, I’ve developed an allergy to aluminum so I’m stuck with the natural/organic stuff.
Let me tell you-NOTHING works as well as actual anti-perspirant. NOTHING. I have tried a number of natural deodorants and so far this has worked out the best for me and it doesn’t make you smell like a witch doctor or a dirty hippie (my boyfriends words, not mine).
The dryness factor is….fine. As good as a deodorant without aluminum can be. I find it keeps me drier longer than other ones I’ve tried. However, I do need to reapply halfway through the day to keep odor away. But I sweat a lot, and used to use really strong extra strength anti-perspirants.
I like the scent-it is subtle and not too strong. I also find the roll-on applicator works quite well (just make sure you let it dry a bit before getting dressed).

Just as their Floral deodorant, it is a nice-smelling natural product. However, it does close to nothing for preventing odour. Add to this the exorbitant price and you can safely guess that I am not going to purchase it again.

Finally!!! I have found a natural, aluminum-free deodorant that actually works!!! After coming across several positive reviews about this product, I finally decided to take the plunge and fork out the $20+ for this deodorant. The smell is great: very clean, citrusy, and well suited to my tastes (it actually works well with my perfume). I have been wearing it for the last few days – and while I fully expected to have to wait a bit for this deodorant to adjust to my body chemistry before it started working completely, I was happy to notice that it starting working very effectively after just one application. I apply just as much and just as often as I do with conventional deodorants (once daily, or after every shower). So far, excellent – and it is very hot and humid around here now. Unlike the LUSH, Lavanila, Tom’s, Sanex, and countless other natural deodorants that I have tried to date, Dr. Hauschka’s delivers. I will definitely re-purchase (despite the cost), because I admire the company and feel much safer using this product.

Now as for deodorants, I am quite critical. I was an avid user of Urtekram’s crystal deo, because it was the only natural deo I’ve had success with so far. Many different others were either spray-ons which made my shaven pits react so badly from the alcohol I just didn’t like using them, or they were pretty ineffective. Main thing is that it should prevent my sweat from smelling bad, as you will sweat naturally because natural products are no anti-perspirants, which I like.
Dr. Hauschka’s cream deodorant is very pleasant to apply. It is only slightly scented, fresh scented, which is easy on the nose. No overpowering smells.
The consistency is, as the name says, creamy as opposed to liquid-y. Therefor it is not too runny which is a plus.
I don’t usually get my hopes up for a deodorant as I haven’t had luck with most, but I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. I ride horse every day so I am active and want my deodorant to actually perform. This deodorant did not make me smell bad, not after an entire day, not after the sports. I just smell pretty neutral.
Sometimes, when I run out of my natural deo and borrow a drugstore one from my family, I swear I can smell my sweat. It is such an unpleasant feeling.
Not with this deo. I can honestly say I really do love it. I don’t sweat so excessively, I don’t get any bad smells through-out the day.
The only con is the price which could lead me back to my Urtekram deodorant which is about half the price here… it took me a bit of trial and error to balance out the effective natural deos out there, because quite a bit out there did not neutralize bad odours in my case.
Bottom line, I love this product, I really do… but if you insist on paying less for a deodorant, there are cheaper all-natural alternatives out there, probably less of a well-known brand as Dr. Hauschka, but effective none the less. It just takes a bit of a search to find natural products that work for you.
If you are as loyal to Dr. Hauschka as I am, this is another product of theirs which is the reason I love this brand so much. High quality products, all-natural. Yes, they are expensive, but most of their products actually perform. I love it.

I recently switched to natural and organic skincare, and was desperately looking for a natural deo. I bought this one because I thought that, being a top quality brand and moderately high priced (£10 in the UK, definitely not cheap) it would be a nice start. It does smell good and the roll-on works just right. But it does almost nothing against odours. I will use it up because of its price and won’t repurchase.

I have been trying to start using moee natural products, and started experimenting with aluminium-free deos. The scent of this is GORGEOUS! Unfortunately, it just didn’t cut the mustard. On days when I am slubbing around not doing much, it is perfectly adequate. However, on those days when I have to go to work, which involves a fast 20-min walk to the station (fast because I am always late!!) and then sitting in an overheated office, then about 2pm I start to smell a little too ripe. Too be fair to this product, I have the same problem with many deos/ antiperspirants which contain aluminium too.
Don’t worry, I have found something which works (Mum) – I don’t spend all day making my colleagues uncomfortable!

Yes, I am willing for fork out $20 for a deodorant. Crazy! But I love this stuff! I’m very leery of antiperspirants for two reasons. First f all, I don’t like that they’re linked to alzheimer’s. Secondly, after about a week of using AP, I start sweating more. I know it sounds crazy, but I sweat the same amount whether I use plain deodorant or antiperspirant. My body adjusts to the AP.
So onto this deodorant.
Fragrance: The floral one is too sweet. I love the smell of roses and was hoping it would smell like rose water, but it doesn’t. It smells like grandma. I tend to like either an unfragranced or a light powder scent and the Fresh scent is just very light, slightly herbal, and slightly powdery. So I think it’s pretty much perfect. (I’m pregnant and lots of smells really turn my stomach, but this scent is very soothing.)
Efficacy: I’ve tried many natural deodorants. Tom’s of Maine makes my pits feel like they’re on fire. Kiss My Face is glycerin-based and therefore really sticky. Even when it dries, if you’re wearing a dark-colored shirt, the fabric pills under your arms, sticks to the deodorant, and makes you look like you have gorilla pit hair. Other natural deodorants just haven’t done anything for perspiration smell. But Dr. Haushka’s not only smells great in the bottle, it works like a charm, and doesn’t have any weird side effects.
So even if I have to choke up $20 every 3 or 4 months, I can’t complain, because this stuff really works.
I recently tried to switch to a less expensive option (Dove’s sensitive deodorant, which has less aluminum than most DS deodorants), but I had several issues with it. First, after a week, I was sweating just as much as I would have been if I weren’t using an antiperspirant; in other words, my body just adjusted to the aluminum and started sweating more. Secondly, I hate the small of antiperspirant, especially when it mixes with a little bit of sweat–smells worse than BO, in my opinion. Not that it’s a very potent smell, but I don’t like smelling it on myself.
So, I tried a DIY option: vodka and witch hazel. If you think I’m crazy, check in the ingredients on this deodorant, and you’ll see both of these–vodka is listed as alcohol, but they’re not using denatured alcohol, which over time hardens skin. They’re using “natural grain alcohol,” which is guess what? Vodka! That combo worked well until the weather turned hot. My advice, to offset the outrageous price of this stuff is to alternate between the $25 Dr. Haushka and use the vodka/witch hazel mixture when I know I won’t be sweating as much.

ETA: Lowering this to 3 lippies. It really isn’t as effective as I’d like.
Original review: I thought I’d try a natural deodrant yet again. Last time I tried a natural deodorant it made my pits raw. Ouch. Read a good review of Dr Hauschka online & picked it up at Scarlet Sage in SF for $22.50 ((cringe)). After using it for over a month in high summer I can say that MOST of the time it works great..but every now and then I catch a whiff of my..uh..natural musk..something that would never happen with your good old aluminum laden antiperspirant/deodorant. So usually when I get home from work I reapply. This makes Dr Hauschka really expensive since I have to apply it twice a day, and me slightly nervous since I never know if I’m going to blast someone with an armpit surprise or not. I’d like to continue using this as long as I can afford to but if my financial situation ever changes, you bet $23 deodorant will be one of the first things to go.
