   I’m pleasantly surprised by this. I bought it as part of a Sephora nude favorites lip kit, and Mauve Wife was the Smashbox included with it, which is kind of a medium nude mauve or a light to medium plum, I guess.

   I am not always a fan of glosses and liquid lipsticks, and out of the kit I wasn’t expecting to like this one so much, but it’s my favorite of the six offerings (it also included Nars Orgasm lipstick, a Tarte matte lip paint, a Buxom gloss, an Urban Decay veil topper, and an Hourglass pencil). I thought for sure I’d like the Hourglass best, because it’s closest to a lipstick, and while I do like it, I happen to love this.

   For starters it applies very comfortably, and is very smooth and is a bit like vaseline, but sticks more, if that makes sense. It’s more like it’s got that comfy slip but still maintains a bit of grip. The color is pretty, and buildable. A swipe and it’s more natural and sheer looking, but a bit more product and it’s a full-on lip look. There’s not any scent or flavor I can discern. Mainly I just check that it won’t get on my teeth (by doing the finger in the mouth thing) and making sure it’s applied neatly so there’s no smudging. Once it’s set I leave it alone, and I find it has really good staying power. I’ve even put it on before a workout, and while getting sweaty and sipping lots of water, I still felt this on my lips after the workout was done. It had faded some, but it I could still feel it on me, and my lips had that nice feel like I had a good balm on them.

   Overall, a really good performer.

   Smashbox’s Be Legendary Liquid Lip Gloss is a cross between a liquid lipstick and a lipgloss. The formula is thicker, with the consistency of a liquid lipstick but with the shine of a lipgloss. The Smashbox website describes this as a “liquid lip formula (that) glides on (with) the full coverage of a lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in a single coat.” These glosses are extremely pigmented and usually one full coat will do you just fine. I also really love the applicator! It’s a small doe foot applicator that’s almost pear shaped with a dip in one side and pointy at the end which helps you get a nice line around your mouth. I was pleasantly surprised by the shape of the applicator and how nicely it helped apply the product!

   This particular color I’m reviewing is Rose B4 Bros, an absolutely lovely darker rose pink shade and very flattering, I can see various skin tones being able to wear it. As far as wear is concerned, I’ve worn it up to three hours before it starts to fade to a softer shade. Still pretty! But definitely faded….so I have to apply at least every three to four hours to keep a full coverage look.

   Overall I really liked this lipgloss, however I don’t know why but I expected it to dry down a bit more than it did. I also had a HUGE problem with this ending up on my teeth…not sure why…maybe I should have blotted it better?! So, FYI, the Smashbox Be Legendary Lip is definitely more gloss than liquid lipstick. It stayed tacky throughout the day even after blotting and a couple hours wear and transferred easily. NOT the product for you if you’re looking for liquid lipstick but definitely pretty if you want a full coverage lip look with high shine. LIKE!!!!
