I’ve been wanting a plumy-wine blush for the fall and winter and was trying to decide between this and Cabana Boy. I went with Pinstripe because it seemed to have a more satin finish (Cabana Boy seemed more shimmery/glittery). This blush is absolutely beautiful! I’m pretty pale (often the lightest foundation shades are still too dark for my complection), but when applied with a light hand it’s perfect. I just use a cheap ELF fan blush on my cheek bones for a light flush of color and it easily lasts 12+ hours!!

I flippin’ LOVE this blush!! Such a great shade for this time of year (Fall) and probably also Wintertime. Applies like a dream, blends easily, easy to build up, and wears nicely during the day without turning funny or funky colors. Lasts on me a good 8 to 10 hours. It is a plum shade and I had read somewhere online that this has a gold shimmer, but I barely detect that, and I am not one to like shimmer in my blush (I prefer matte). I think this is marketed more for deeper or darker skin tones, but I also feel us gals with lighter skin complections (I am NC20) can wear this with a lighter hand (in fact, that is how I ‘discovered’ this, after seeing a couple youtube ladies with about my skin complection wearing this). If you are heavy-handed, this might feel ‘too dark’ or ‘too much’ for you. I would maybe suggest a stipple brush to apply this. Of course, this will behave differently based on different skin conditions and what is applied under and over top of it. But this lasts on me pretty much all day, with normal/combo skin and applied over a mid-range price or even drugstore foundation (currently either Lorac PoreFection or Revlon Colorstay).
My only ‘complaint’ about this is the packaging. It is cute, but I just dislike the cardboard box trend that many companies seem to use these days. Just feels cheap (sorry) and not very sturdy. I also wonder if the blushes last longer in the traditional plastic type packaging with more secure closures. BUT..that certainly and obviously has no bearing on the look or performance of the actual product. Just a personal preference. There is a magnetic closure on this. I suppose the advantage of the packaging is it take sup less room. Which would make it nice for travel.

Fair-skinned gals, do not fear this shade! Instain blushes can be applied lightly or more “heavily”, and blend out remarkably well. This dark plum colour does not have to look scary on fair skin. In fact, I love it for the plummy, rosy glow it gives and for the uniqueness of the colour. Years ago NYC made a blush shade called West Side Wine. The staying power was lacking, but nothing looked better on my face in photos- it showed up better than a peach or pink, warmed up my skin tone, and made me look fresh. I haven’t found anything like it since NYC discontinued the colour. At long last, Pinstripe fits the bill.
I love it with taupe, plum, purple, and grey eyeshadows. NARS Christina on the lips is a great fit with Pinstripe, as is anything in the berry palette or, of course, the right nude lip.
I read that these blushes apply best with a brush designed to give a lighter touch. I bought Ecotools Sheer Finish Kabuki and use it for my Instain blushes. Just a light sheep across the surface, blow off the excess, touch lightly to the face and blend away. Increase pressure on the brush for more colour payoff, or apply another layer. You can also lightly “tap” the brush across the apples of your cheeks to even out the application- I do this for more colour payoff where I feel it’s needed and then blend out. The blush really does “stain”- it’s even stained the brush. Sometimes I just use the brush to apply my blush without even dipping it in the pan- the leftover stain on the bristles is enough to do a second blush application days later.
For colour payoff and staying power in a powder blush, Instain’s formula can’t be beat. The colour holds up well throughout the day.
I recommend this shade and the whole Instain line, and encourage other fair-skinned ladies to step outside their peachy-pink/coral comfort zones with shades like this.

Hands down, best blush purchase of the year. I always reach for warm based apricot and peach shades. I rarely buy cool toned pinks. However, a true plum shade was missing from my blush stash. I needed something to work with cooler toned makeup looks. Blush is a pain to begin with for me because so many of them contain bismuth oxycholoride. But, finding a TRUE plum was also a pain. So many so called plum shades are either too pink or more like fuchsia. I wanted a dusty soft purple based plum and I found it with Pinstripe. Pinstripe has a dusty mid tone purple base with a slight pearlescent sheen to it. It actually appears pigmented in the pan but I need a few swipes for it to show up on my skin. If you are shy to plums like me and stick to more orange warm based blushes, check out my face pic in my profile pics. I’m NC40 Medium skin olive toned.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for these blushes yet. These are, far and away, my favorite blush formula that I’ve ever used. I have oily skin and nothing lasts on me. The Tarte Amazonian clay blushes were my favorite before these but these just blow those out of the water. These are so highly pigmented that a small tap into the pan will give you more than enough color for both cheeks. The lasting power is unbelievable. They really do stain (not in a bad scary way) and look fresh through the whole day. I have 4 of these and do plan on getting the others. I’m so happy with them, I can’t say enough good things. Pinstripe is a gorgeous plummy color which looks so pretty when used with a light hand. It does appear to have a little shimmer in the pan but I never see that on the face. These are well worth paying full price for, though TheBalm often does 50% off sales so you probably wouldn’t have to!

I really like the blushers from TheBalm and this is an excellent colour it really reminds me of NARS Sin. I have both and they look so similar except this is a touch less shimmery but both are gorgeous imo. This is an excellent Fall blush if you’re looking for a plummy shade. Plus the amount of shimmer is minimal in that it gives a beautiful glow from your cheeks. It’s highly pigmented and not chalky at all. You get a good amount of product and because it’s so heavily pigmented it should last me a very long time. Also the colour does not budge so it lasts quite awhile.
Usually I wait for 1/2 off sales but this is worth the $$ because you get a great product. I also love the packaging very easy to use with a cute little mirror. Its great for travel and it’s a great shade if you are looking for something similar to Sin or just want an awesome plum blush with a fine amount of shimmer, then this is for you. It would be lovely on fair and dark skin tones as well. Definitely Recommended!

This is so beautiful. I always wanted to get NARS Oasis, but I was always put off by the sparkle, but this is exactly what I wanted Oasis to be. It is really pigmented, but the gold sheen isn’t overwhelming, it just gives it a glow, rather than making you look like you’ve overdone it with highlighter or have decided to wear frosty eyeshadow as blush. The colour is kind of in between berry and red, it doesn’t have the same ‘bruised’ Oasis had when I swatched it.
It is really blendable, with one caveat- if your foundation isn’t fully dry the moisture seems to activate the ‘staining’ quality of Instain blushes, which will make it darker and pinker (I think the staining pigment in this must be related to the staining pigment in the Maybelline tinted Baby Lips, and the MAC Sheen Supreme Lipglass Tints). If your foundation is dry or you apply powder first this is easy to blend out if you want subtle.

I bought this blush during the 50% sale off TheBalm website. It’s a beautiful reddish-plum with golden shimmer. The shimmer is very refined and gives the blush a beautiful golden sheen. The blush is very smooth. All you need to do is lightly tap your brush and you’ll get enough product to apply onto both of your cheeks.
