I absolutely love this perfume oil. The scent is warm and sexy and it lasts a long time. I’m not really sophisticated to know or care about the top notes, etc. I like what I like and that’s all I need to know.

Onyx is an antidepressant! There is something both comforting and energizing about this exquisite, masterful oil blend. I cannot think of any other perfume that blends coconut with oakmoss, let alone coconut with oakmoss AND tobacco. The combination is brilliant, and Onyx, like all other Sage Machado fragrances, is severely underrated.

This is for the oil. Wowza. Talk about sexy…mysterious. This is beyond gorgeous. Onyx is dark and rich. The coconut and tobacco blend so well together. My skin adores Onyx. I find the lasting power of SM oils to be outstanding. It wears close to the skin, yet every time I move my head, or brush my hair I get soft little clouds of scent that surround me and those close to me always seem to compliment. I love how my sweaters smell after wearing this. I can wear this all year. It’s perfect for any season. This is swoon material. And seriously, how adorable is the packaging? Too cute!

love at first sniff! i like my scents either very femme fresh and clean or really heavy and musky…….perfect fit in my musk collection!

Sage Onyx is a cloying, sickly sweet coconut/musk bomb that smells cheap but somehow manages to gets rave reviews on the MUA Fragrance Board when the “best coconut perfume” poll crops up time after time. I don’t get the point of Onyx at all but then again, I’m in my forties. Maybe this Onyx is something the “tween” set enjoys… All I know is, I don’t like this one bit. Get out the kitchen sponge!!
Here are the notes, courtesy of The Perfumed Court: dark coconut, oakmoss, tobacco and vanilla nectar.

I love it. Dark, rich coconut minus the sweetness typical of coconut scents. Warm tobacco drydown, but so feminine…not girly, all woman.

Black velvety coconut and a hint of tobacco. Nothing else. And in the end, it’s a beach scent. There’s just too much similarity between this coconut and Coppertone for me to pay this kind of outrageous price for so little. It actually makes me angry. But it’s a nice coconut scent if you like coconut.

Very smoky and woodsy, no sweetness or coconut in my opinion. I don’t even detect vanilla. Nice, but not something I will run out and purchase.

This is sweet and warm and beautifully blended. Ultra feminine, but with an edge. I love the combination of smoke and coconut and in my opinion it’s the ultimate “skin” scent. This is my favorite of the Sage line – while it lasts. Unfortunately, on me it’s fleeting! I thought with it being an oil, it would last longer on me, but no, to my disappointment it lasts maybe an hour! I am jealous of those of you who say its lasts for you – oy!

(Sigh) I wanted to like this and find it irresistably dark and delicious, but alas, this is just a simple vanilla-coconut. It’s plesant in the good-to-eat sort of way, but it is as sexy as the Comptoir Sud Pacific fragrances. I’ll enjoy my vial during the times I want to smell something good as opposed to smell good, but it isn’t FBW.
