I really love the texture of the lipsticks and their color is amazing. It stays on your lips for a long time, even while you eat. I love Ariana’s makeup, and this is my fav look of hers: That is why the plum shade of the lipstick is my fave, as it resembles so much to this look and is so Ariana-like!

Stunning! Hard to wear though! But on my Fair skin & almost black hair… ugh! DYING! (only talking about pinky purple lipstick)

I liked the theme of this VIVA GLAM: I used to wear lipgloss when I was the innocent little girl, and now as I am a grown woman, I prefer lipstick. The lipgloss in this collection is a baby pink shade with glitter which refers to a good lady which doesn’t misbehave. While the very dark lipstick refers to a vamp woman with her little secrets who is not shy at all. All in all, the theme fits Ariana Grande perfectly since she started as innocent pop singer and turned into a singer who has no fear showing sexuality in her newest videos (for example: Everyday, which I don’t like. And I’m not a fan of Ariana Grande, either.)
I start with the lipstick: I don’t know why I bought it. I’d never dark lipstick, maybe when I’m going to a fashioned-themed party but otherwise never. Yeah, I know the money went to a charity but I can’t use this lipstick at all (which is my fault). But some stated it wears not good and doesn’t stay long on your lips. Either way, you love or you hate it. But since neither of them are available anymore, who cares.
I like the lipgloss alot. I don’t mind sticky lipglosses so this is ok for me. Like it or not, lipgloss will never stay for hours and hours. The shade makes my lips shiny and beautiful, ideal for working or school. So sad this isn’t available anymore. I really like the effect.
The lipgloss gets 5/5, the lipstick 2/5. Which makes this LE worth 3/5 for me. MAC, please do not bring Ariana back for more LE because they suck in my opinion. The newest (now sold) VIVA GLAM from Ariana Grande was not good enough. In fact, the lipstick shade was just a dupe of your own lipsticks. So please, get Britney Spears, Demi, Christina Aguilera, or anyone else in but not her.

Colors are beautiful. Love it!

This is the first lipstick shade I have ever bought. And I don’t really like it.
As someone who’s more of a lurker when it comes to makeup, I did a fair amount research about lipsticks to find a very good formulation of lipstick to be my first.
MAC lipsticks were one of the first ones and more popular brannds I stumbled upon, being “attacked” by an endless recollection on articles with Kylie Jenner’s face on them, all of when the lip injection craziness was in full bloom.
Though my opinion on the Kardashians as a whole is more towards the negative/indifferent side, I loved the look she had, so after I gave it some thought, and because of my dislike of sheer/creamy/frosty or glittery lips, I decided to purchase a regular, good ol’ matte lipstick because liquid lipsticks used to terrify me.
I settled for more of a nude/”your lips but better” shade (think Velvet Teddy), but when I saw that Ariana Grande was partnering with the brand for a Viva Glam collection and with such a beautiful vampy shade, my dear gay self couldn’t do anything but gasp. (In case you don’t know, every cent from all Viva Glam Collection purchases goes to help those affected by HIV/AIDS)
So I waited and waited and when it launched I bought it faster than you can say speed force, not watching any swatches or reviews beforehand. I saw the box and I couldn’t contain my joy. I took the bullet out of the package, I fell in love with her signature being on there. It was a religious experience. So when I went on and swiped it on my lips, to my surprise, I wasn’t impressed at all.
This shade is a lot lighter than what the ad made it out to be. The lipstick is not as highly and evenly pigmented as expected from a $17 lipstick, especially for one of the products MAC is known for. It is patchy, somewhat smudgey, also by being more of a dark shade, a bit unforgiving in application. My biggest complain being it really never looking truly matte, but after using the tissue and powder method, the pigmentation problems became more noticeable.
Not wanting to give up, I deemed lip lining worth of giving a shot for the first time also, I went and bought the Nightmoth liner, also from MAC. That way I finally got the deep, dark colour I longed for. But it didn’t hide any of the patchiness or other issues for me.
TL;DR:
PROS:
– Beautiful color.
– A die-hard’s fan must. (Not one here though.)
– That classic MAC lipstick smell.
– All proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund.
CONS:
– Patchy.
– Smudgey.
– Transfers like crazy.
– Very drying despite not being fully matte.
– Fades quicky and unevenly.
– Lighter than advertised.
– Leaves a weird stain.
– More of a satin finish.
– Hard to remove from lip crevices.
– Not cruelty-free, because China.
Disclaimer: Some of these issues I have might be with the formulation of all of the mattes lipsticks from this brand because of my recent introduction to it.

Ariana Grande really annoys me as a person and when the nice lady in the mac store asked me if I would like to see the latest viva glam and mentioned Ariana, I rolled my eyes and didn’t know what to expect. I defiantly did not expect the deep matte plum colour I was shown. “She wanted the release a black lipstick” the MAC lady tells me, “but they wouldn’t let her so this is what they came up with”. Now, I don’t know what the hell Ariana is doing with wanting black lipstick, if this is her ‘I can be edgy’ statement but I actually really like this lipstick (as much as it pains me to say this).
The bullet almost looks black. But it produces it matte (read: possibly drying), very deep plum shade that is quite the statement colour. I am a nw10 and I really like the contrast between this dark berry plum and my pale skin. The texture isn’t terrible and impressively easy to apply and comfortable for a matte finish. As with every dark statement lip colour, it is important to prime and prep for this to avoid chapping, drying, mess ect.
So yes, I’m a fan! I’m not 100% on whether I’d repurchase but at present I am happy with this shade.

This is my first VG purchase since the 90s and when I first bought VG1. It’s for charity, so I don’t really consider this as a purchase but rather a donation, so today I’m testing out the VG Ariana lipstick. I bought it last week and decided to test it out today on a gloomy day. I filled my lips with the Nightmoth lip liner pencil first and put the Ariana lipstick over it. The reason I did this was because when I tested it at the MAC counter, the MUA was skeptical to let me try it on because she thought I would be scared of how dark it was but I told her I was drawn to the darker lip and nail colours. It’s a beautiful plum burgundy colour on me which I adore. She and the other MUA (who looked exactly like Ariana) said I rocked it and it looked great with my NC30-40 Asian skin tone but I told her it was very smudgey and went on my lips patchy. Although she did say that I would need a liner underneath this particular lipstick and she was right because I wore it out of the store and while it looked great, it started to fade and become patchy but it left behind a nice stain.
I will update as soon as I’ve tested this out a bit more.

I love the Lipglass. It is a pale lavender shimmer glitter bomb. The lipstick was a disaster. I blind bought these & I did something I don’t often do I returned my lipstick. It is a dark brown nearly black I did not like it. Ariana 2 lipstick was much nicer. I love supporting Viva Glam & I’m kind of a collector you could say. Unless it’s totally “out there” I usually buy it. I love supporting a charity that gives 100% of proceeds to men/women/children living w HIV/AIDS & MAC is now cruelty free which is great!

I love this gloss. It is the closest thing to my beloved and frequently mourned VGV lipglass, but this is more mauvey, less pink beige. I will be sad when mine is all gone. I am nw20, deep winter, almost black hair, brown eyes.

I always look forward to the Viva Glam releases in hopes of it being something I could like. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a clear gloss with a ton of shimmer. It reminds of a dazzleglass. I will not purchase.

I did not like this lipstick. I returned it in fact & the only other MAC lipsticks I’ve returned are MAC VG Nicki 2 out of my 75+ MAC lipsticks & 25+ Lipglasses. OTOH I really love the Ariana Lipglass so much & have bought a back up. It does not match the lipstick which is kind of strange that for once they didn’t match them. The Ariana lipstick is much too dark, it looked almost goth on me, almost black but really dark brown-purple, not at all pretty but the Lipglass is a shimmery champagne that is really light & pretty! They are such polar opposites in color lipstick is dark & vampy but Lipgloss is super pale! The lipstick actually looks good w the Lipglass slicked over the top of it but I just ultimately couldn’t make this work. This is too dark!

Lately I’ve been I to dark lipsticks, so I wanted to give this a try.
It wears kind of patchy on me, but if I exfoliate and hydrate my lips before using this, the result comes out to be much better.
For me, using an lip liner with this is a must (I use it with Mac pro longwear lip pencil in Dark out). I use it before all over my lips, and after I applied the lipstick I line my lips again to make sure it’s all even.
The lasting time is good, and I find this to be less drying than other matte formulas.
I don’t know how much time this is going to last, since I don’t use it too often, so I’m not sure I will be able to buy it again, being LE.

I just bought this lipstick because of the hype and the good cause. Its matte and has a very deep purple eggplant colour. It almost looks slightly black on my lips. However, it is very difficult to remove and when its being applied, it is very blotch and dry. I had to reapply a few times, just to make it look less blotchy. It does look good on my brown skin tone.
