At first this is a beautiful, true to tube deep blood red. It is so pretty, but it turns the same bright pink as so many of the Besame lipsticks do on me. I wish I knew what the pigment or ingredient was that turns colors so pink on me so that I could avoid it.

I get compliments every time I wear this. Subtle vanilla scent, flavor. Doesn’t bleed or feather, which IMO is imperative for darker colors. Love the vintage packaging, too!

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviews. There’s nothing more I can add, except that this lipstick is killer. The staying power is impressive and the color is gorgeous. My only (very slight) reservation is that it can be difficult to apply directly from the tube as it is so pigmented that the formula is not really smooth. But it can be worked with and the results are worth it!

Blood Red is no joke one of the best oxblood lip colors out there.
As a stain, it is absolutely beautiful, but a full application it is a head turner.
It is a long wearing lip color and it is hydrating. The color does stain the lips so remover is necessary. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Blood Red is a bold color. It looks amazing by itself but crazy awesome when paired with a smoker eye.
A couple of things: use a lip liner for this one for better precision. You do not want it to bleed outside the lips. Second, make sure to exfoliate, and moisturize lips. The color is hydrating but it will show any dryness on the lips.
Lastly, this lipstick in my opinion requires a little more time than usual to apply because of the richness of the color.

This is a wonderful dark red, an authentic reproduction of a shade from 1922, the dawn of the flapper era. It’s easy to imagine Louise Brooks or Clara Bow wearing it.
Blood Red is absolutely unique in that while it’s dark, it’s not plummy. It has an unexpected red undertone that I’ve not seen in shades that may look similar at first glance. It’s also extremely versatile – it can be applied as a light stain with a brush, you can build it up moderately, or go for a full-on deep red. It’s like having a little magic in your makeup bag.
It leans toward warm, but not in an extreme way, and I think it would flatter most people.
Like all Besame lipsticks, it’s semi-matte, non-drying, has exceptional staying power, and comes in that beautiful gold bullet tube. I hope this one becomes a permanent addition to their line!
