This may be my favorite clean fragrance ever – one I caved in and bought ten years after sampling it. It is discontinued now but can be found around.
Azzaro Twin is one of those fragrances that smells like Nivea creme in the blue tin. Rosy, almondy, vanilla, soft musk. On me, though, Keiko Mecheri’s Mihime is the ultimate Nivea and it’s considerably thicker and denser than Twin – more rosy perhaps while Twin has a light iris that opens it up and makes it more airy. And it comes at a fraction of the price obviously. I actually like Twin more because it’s lighter.
Twin has a very clean, transparent opening that I couldn’t get out of my mind no matter how generic it may be. It’s not sharp like laundry or aldehydic fragrances. Then it becomes like a wonderful, creamy lotion. I love the almond note in Azzaro. No playdoh, no doll’s head, no plastics, no candied-frosted gourmand. Just that almond smell you get in body lotions.
If I pay attention to it, I see that this is not exactly a linear fragrance. It has more transparent, less transparent, irisy phases etc. But actually, I don’t care. I find the clean lotion smell very relaxing on some days. No sharp edges, pure, out-of-the shower bliss.
OK sillage and long lasting power on me. I like wearing it close to skin but notice whiffs around.
