Good ingredients and I get what they’re trying to do with the packaging, but this did next to nothing for my acne. I get better results with either straight tea tree oil or just not picking at my face. The rollerball was plastic (last I checked, unless they’ve changed that?) and it didn’t always disperse product evenly.

Last thing in the World is when you have a blind pimple and you Know that you have to stop it b4 it becomes a full blown ouchy mess, that ruins a week out of your life! For $2.00 you can’t go wrong. It clears it up without overdrying. For Me I was using Proactiv Acne Kit for 12+ year’s! I swear by it, it’s worth every penny! I have no acne scars, red marks, ect. For chronic acne, Please see & consult a dermatologist. I admit that I didn’t and took things into my own hands! I was the type of person who grew up being called All kinds of cruel name’s. From age 12 to 20. That’s probably why I chose to be a Cosmetologist! I’ve used tar soaps, special Dr recommend precription junk that made my face worse and drying! Ontop of more breakouts, cystic acne. But e.l.f is awesome in spot acne, during the time of the month or stress acne or light teenage acne. You spot treat with this brand and you must clean the applicator after each use! Otherwise you will only spread the dreadful acne! Whether you use this brand or a brand of your choice that’s more expensive and has 2% Salicylic Acid. I figured it out, that through higher Salicylic Acid amount isn’t better! Oh it sounds good, but it leads to unbelievable drying on the outside of the pimple, while you STILL have a pimple or pimples! e.l.f has aloe in it, helping heal without drying! I’ve been there before! And yes it’s AWEFUL! People and kids can be VERY cruel! This comes from the heart and experience, and education! At 47, a monthly pimple or two is nothing. BTW: you can clean the applicatior with hydrogen peroxide. Don’t over do the acne cleansing process, that also will make it much worse, and no matter what kind of acne you have, You MUST moisture. Think of going out in the sun for years without ever moisturizing your skin! You’ll see the results later on in your life! I REALLY HOPE this review and info helps you as it did Me! Good Luck! Xo

This is amazing! I’m looking for a back up in my travels in elf displays so far no luck! It heals them fast imo better than Clinique’s salicylic med that stuff stings too & it’s hard not to waste it once u get down near the end of the tube like stated in another review you do have to squeeze hard!! I will rebuy this is a neat little thing I get one blemish at a time normally so I’m not using it on large areas of my face. #YEStorebuy #winning #itworks

I love this, but despite the price tag, it is quite expensive.
I say it is expensive because you only get 6 ml. I use mine up within a month to a month and a half max. If you add up the price from constant repurchases, it’s nearly equivalent to Clinique’s Blemish Solution’s Clinical Clearing Gel.
Don’t get me wrong, this product WORKS! I use it to spot treat. But I find that in order for it to work best and the quickest, I have to layer it on thick. And of course, it runs out fast, and I have to constantly repurchase.
With the Clinique Clearing Gel, I go through one 30ml bottle in a bit less than a year, because I don’t need that much for each zit.
Regarding the roller ball – I’m fine with it, as I only use this product directly after washing my face. If I want to reapply half way through the day, I’ll roll it onto my fingers before tapping it on. But if you’re iffy about bacteria spreading, you wouldn’t like this.
I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a cheaper salicylic acid option. But you should realize that you’re paying less for a lower quantity. The quality though, is top notch.
If I had to pick between Elf or the Clinique gel, I’d choose the Elf one. Simply because I find the roller ball more convenient. With the Clinique, once there’s less product, you have to Squeeze that bottle Really Damn Hard to get the product out. And sometimes you get too much out.
Overall: Love this. Would recommend.

I got tired of constantly having to repurchase this because of how small it is, and how much I need to use for it to be effective. I’ve found an alternative with pretty much the same price, but more product, and I don’t have to use as much either.

I tried this last year (not sure if the formula has changed since then). I have 1-2 pimples pop up about once a month (usually on my chin-thanks period!) but sometimes around my nose when I have allergies, due to all of the tissue-wiping. Anyway, this did nothing to help. It really was if I hadn’t applied anything.
I have much better luck with the Neutrogena spot treatments or the Mario Badescu drying lotion.
I love most of elf products, just not this one.
*BTW: for the past few months, I’ve been washing my face with Cetaphil Gentle and then following up with witch hazel on a cotton pad to help remove the rest of my makeup and I’ve had much fewer breakouts. I haven’t had to use a spot treatment in quite awhile. In case anyone would like to give that a go.

They changed the formula for this from when I last tried it years ago. The old formula did absolutely nothing for me. I decided to try again because it said it was ‘improved’ and needed another $2 product for free shipping. I’m so glad I did. It goes on so smoothly, lightly and clear, unlike most acne treatments that are so thick and can ball under makeup or leave white residue. It does have a strong smell, like Vicks Vaporub but it goes away upon drying. This will stop a pimple from happening if you catch it early enough, and a more mature one in about 2-3 days. I accidentally slept in my makeup and ended up with a huge zit, with the redness being about times bigger than the bump. I used this and it took away most of the redness in a few hours, now it’s on its way to recovery. I find this works better than acne treatments that cost 6 times as much and claim to reduce pimples in four hours (they don’t). You also seem to get more product for your money and I like that it’s a roller ball (not sure how hygienic it is, but it should kill bacteria, right?) so you just roll on what you need instead of a tube that may accidentally squeeze too much product and more difficult to get out when you’re running low. .

I bought this just to try as a cyst spot treatment- i would not recommend rolling this all over your face as a whole face treatment; i dont believe thats what this product is for. Its a spot treatment, not a salisylic acid lotion treatment. There are products/washes out there like that, this is not it. This is for spots only. Applying this to large areas might be a bit drying and harsh for your skin, as well as super unsanitary- the rollerball would only transfer your acne sebum around your face, you dont want that.
Using it as a spot treatment, for a few hours – i can say it works ok and has dried out the area well (which is what you want so scabbing can commence and allow it to dry up and heal). I will keep using and update, but im happy with it for the $$$.
I do not recommend using the rollerball. Like a different reviewer mentioned, I used a needle nose pliers to carefully but easily pop the top off (it just snaps on) and then just poked/pushed out the rollerball from inside the removed top. It popped out easily and then i snapped the lid sans-roller back on. I just apply it with a clean Q-tip instead, dipped in the top. The smell is strong but fades immediately. Most acne meds have a chemical smell. The smell isnt the witch hazel, liquid witch hazel doesnt have a strong smell (you can buy it in store as a skin astringent).

I want to like this product. Unfortunately, any breakouts I’ve tried it on just say “meh,” then go about their business. 🙁

If you take into account the ingredients, it might have been a good and affordable product. But it smells really bad and the packaging is unhygienic as you have to roll it again and again over zits – gross. I tried to ignore that strong smell just to see if it works. Nothing impressive so it’s not worth it. It definitely doesn’t make zits shrink overnight.
