I am a nurse and don’t usually do anything more to my nails than keep them trimmed and apply clear or super sheer polishes because long painted nails are generally frowned upon in my profession. I recently signed up for the Julep beauty box and received a box of 12 polishes free. Many of the shades are very deep — purples, blues, grays, and metallics. I painted my fingernails with the only light shade (Birgit?), which is a pretty lilac/mauve/gray. I used a base coat, 2 coats of polish, and a top clear coat. Looked lovely but the color was basically in shreds on my fingertips after just one 12 hour shift. I have to wash or foam my hands very often and also frequently wear gloves. So, not work friendly! Right now I have this pretty metallic navy blue on my finger nails but I am not working for several days so hopefully I will get better wear this time.

I have been painting my nails weekly for the last 40 years. I have tried nail polishes worth less than $1 and more than $20 a bottle. This is the first time a color lasts at least 5 days and looks as good as day 1. I did not use a base. I have tried 5 different colors, 4 of them were strong colors and all lasted. I guess the results are different for all and that may explain the bad reviews. Opi chips on my nails after a few hours. So happy I found Julep.

Wow! I’m kinda stunned at all these bad reviews because I’ve just tried Julep recently and really like it!
I got an online deal to get 12 free polishes for signing up for the Maven subscription. I figured I could quit after the first month if I didn’t like the polish… but I do.
Yes the formula is a bit runny but nothing I can’t work with. I’ve tried 5 colors so far and am impressed with the pigment and coverage,
NO chipping here! I’m wondering if the other people are doing base coats and top coats? Because I was amazed at the wear of my first Julep manicure- I cleaned, did dishes, etc and didn’t have s chip for 3 days!
The bottle IS a little harder to handle but I guess that’s the tradeoff for cool packaging, lol. I do enjoy the slimmer bottles for traveling tho.
The price is s but high also, I would NOT be buying these at full price but the deals on the site make them pretty reasonable individually.
I also love that I can customize my box- no surprise each month but I love that I can choose what I need.
I’m normally an Essie girl, I’ve always preferred that brand above the others… but I’ll be wearing a lot more Julep from now on!

I do my nails every weekend. This was my first Julep polish experience and will definitely be my last. I have the color Coco. It is easily the most thin, streaky polish I’ve ever used. Three coats required for a nice even finish. Doesn’t dry quickly. The bottle lends itself to tipping over, brush is ok, Just a normal brush. I personally don’t require the pro-wide brush because my toenails are teensy, so meh on that point. The packaging does look pretty, and the shade actually is lovely, so if you don’t mind putting that much effort into it go for it. It is 4 free, but if that’s what you’re after, go with Zoya. Their formula blows this stuff away.

The tl;dr version of this review can be summed up as follows: No. Bad. All wrong. Do not buy.
I signed up for a free Julep Maven trial box, then forgot to cancel before they shipped me another box (which was heavily discounted, luckily). I actually loved some of the colors they sent me, including one that I normally wouldn’t go for (an orangeish red with a bronze metallic sheen). I have now tested several shades and formulas with varying results. I gave them 2 lippies *only* because some of their colors are beautiful and just what I had been looking for. I also liked the aesthetic of the packaging and the bottles. However, the tall, skinny bottles are a nightmare to work with…they tip over very easily, which can create a huge mess. The brush is okay, nothing special. It’s just your basic cheap/thin nail brush. Overall, the packaging just needs to be more functional/practical/user friendly.
The polish itself is highly pigmented, but super runny! It literally dripped sideways off the stem of the brush as I did my nails and plopped all over my work surface. No matter how many times I wiped the brush, the polish still kept coming down to the bristles from IDK where and leaving puddles of polish on my nails. Messy, difficult to clean up (due to the heavy pigmentation), and not self-leveling. I consistently had bare, super thin spots and really thick gloppy spots on the same nail, which took some effort to even out.
Drying time was an issue with most of the colors I tried – even thin layers of Fifi were damp and smudging after 30 minutes drying time per coat. The oxblood and metallic blue colors I tried were good to go with 30 minutes between coats, no smudging. So, at best, I need to spend an hour drying the color, plus however long it takes to cure the top coat after that. After all my effort to dry my nails, I was bummed that 3 of the colors chipped the *same day* just by texting or typing on my laptop. I normally don’t even complain about chipping, because my expectations are super low in that department. If I could even just get to the next day before chipping started, I would be happy…but Julep is a same-day chipper. The one exception was a color called Austen, which did not chip on my toenails only (but then again, toenails rarely chip, so this isn’t worth many brownie points).
For the price point, Julep is seriously lacking as a nail brand, and I would not recommend their stuff at all. I’ve seen individual polishes going for $12-$14 each on the Julep website, which is a solid 50% – 100% more per bottle than other, better brands (like Essie). Even Sally Hansen, Revlon, and $2 Sinful Colors nail polishes blow Julep out of the water in every way. I will probably end up pitching certain colors, like Fifi, that are excessively difficult to work with and are just dupes of other brands anyway.
mildBoars7
I’m pretty surprised by some of the terrible reviews here! I have been a Julep maven for over a year and I have over three dozen of these polishes. It has become the only brand I ever need to use. I started out as a multi-brand user, I had a bunch of drugstore brands and also Color Club, OPI, etc., and some indies I got for the glitters. After I had a range of colors from Julep I’ve completely stopped looking for some thing better.
A really big pro is the top coat. It is not advertised as quick drying, but it dries very, very fast for me. I absolutely stopped wasting the money on Seche Vite (where half the bottle becomes unusable anyway). I got a free bottle of Seche last month and tried it, but see no reason to change my mind. For specifics: I often do two coats of polish over a base coat layer. Sometimes three, or a thick layer of glitter. Add this top coat, and everything dries beautifully.
Not sure why some people have issues with the dry time. If you look at the reviews on Julep’s site, it comes up sometimes as well. I’ve never had that problem at all, even when I discovered the best product…
The bonding base coat. Omg, it’s so much better than any I’ve tried. I have thin, damaged nails (due to my behavior, not the polish) and this has completely stopped the corners chipping after a couple of days, as they usually did. I literally can wear a manicure for a week now.
And that’s always the Julep colors. I honestly don’t know why people have so many issues. One thing that I discovered a few years ago is it helps greatly if you wipe your nails down with rubbing alcohol and wait a minute before applying (it not just cleans them, but also dries them if there is any moisture).
I use Julep polish every single week, one or two manis depending when I get impatient. The only thing I wish they had was a matte top coat. The colors, the glitters, the textured finishes, the matte metallics, everything.
For this review, I considered lowering the “Price” score to four lippies, but really, any other brand is the same. Drugstore stuff never performs as consistently for me. And if you’re a maven, everything is very reasonable.

**See updates at the bottom of my review**
My review is only for the polish as a retail customer. I have no experience with customer service or with being a Julep Maven.
Unlike the others here, I’ve had an excellent experience with this product.
I used Jessie (Bombshell) on top of Seche Ridge Filler then topped it off with Essie All in One. I just needed one coat of the polish which went on smooth and dried opaque. No streaking whatsoever.
The polish dried quickly…within 30 minutes. Right after, I cooked dinner then washed dishes. No chips, dings or dents.
I will report back after I more have experience with the product.
Update 1 (10/14/2016): I applied the polish on 10/08. It is now 6 days since application and I have no chips. Yay!

I used to LOVE these nail varnishes so much. I am a MUA and to me it’s important to have a nice looking nails. I mean who doesn’t like nice looking nails though? Recently I’ve become so disappointed in this product I won’t be buying it again. Firstly it takes FOREVER to dry even after just one coat. Secondly you need at least 3 or 4 coats to get a good colour. Thirdly you would think after all that effort of having to paint 3/4 times and leaving them ages to dry they would last longer on the nails. Wrong!! I could paint my nails the night before, and then the next night after getting home from work they would be chipped! So annoying also as these nail varnishes arnt exactly cheap! Seriously so disappointing don’t bother waiting your time or money. I genuinely fine Barry M Nail varnishes are not only half the price but last a long time and need only two coats and are dry within a couple of minutes!

I love these. Amazing variety of colors and some of the best quality polishes I’ve used. Will always repurchase.

OPI Stand In Line nail polish from the Rock Goddess Mini Collection
Gorgeous lime green colour! Love it but was sheer and streaky. Needed 4 coats so it took a long time to dry. I will keep looking for a lime green with a better formula.
wrathfulDoughnut4
The quality of OPI has diminished since Coty acquired them. It’s basically Sally Hansen in OPI bottles. I will never use OPI again
murkyGnu5
Was suckered in when they first came out – a huge variety of shades and different finishes – I had to give it a go, but it ended up in huge disappointment.
They look great during application but they take forever to dry compared to most other brands I’ve tried and they never last more than a day on me. Worst part is that most of them need at least 3 coats to be fully opaque.
I would give it a higher score of it either chipped quickly but was at least quick and easy to apply (makes it optimal for occasions where you really only need it to last through one day or night), or if it took a while to apply but at least lasted longer (1-2 days is NOT enough considering the long dry-time).
Repurchase? Nope – so not worth the hassle.
affectedBagels6
I don’t understand what magic people see in these polishes and why they are presented in all good beauty salon.
Don’t take me wrong, they aren’t bad, but I think that there are much better options out there.
Pros:
– huge color selection
– sold everywhere (any rare shade can be found online)
– streak free application
Cons:
– dark colors staining nails with most of the base the coats
– it really takes time to properly dry them out even with fast drying top coats
– staying power isn’t great (3-5 days on my hands while I could get up to 10 days with China Glaze)

My daughter was given the 4 bottle gift pack as a stocking stuffer and was after use immediately after use got a nose bleed, nausea, and stomach ailment…the following day she slept all day as I thought it was a bug, the day after that she had no energy at all. On the fourth day she was up and about ate was doing well decided to paint her nails again and the whole cycle started immediately after using this product. I took her to the doctor and the ingredient that is not on the bottles nor stated on the boxes is “triphenyl phosphate” and is labeld as TPHP.
I would suggest you pull these bottles off the shelf redirect your chemists and makers of the polish solutions to re-evaluate the product chemical structure, as it is toxic to humans and therefore the environment.
I am letting you know first before I take this matter to the CDC and EPA and any other agency that will stop the production of this nail polish.

I love Anna Sui’s style and how unique her packaging is. I also love glitters. I figure that glitters look best on younger women and so I’m embracing the fun now, especially seeing as glitter has come back into fashion! I think that Anna Sui polishes are becoming more easily available in the UK. For example, ASOS is now stocking them. I think that Anna Sui polishes are tricky to buy without seeing them as the descriptions and ‘swatches’ on websites tend to be completely wrong. I purchased Celadon Grey S008 and Ink Blue M103 unseen from BeautyBay. I found some swatches of the polishes on a blog post from imabeautygeek, otherwise I would not have been brave enough to purchase unseen. Unfortunately my love for Essie polishes remains unchallenged. I find Essie or OPI polishes to be more opaque, fast drying, non-chipping and easier to apply than these Anna Sui polishes. Additionally, my bottles of Anna Sui contain 8 ml of polish compared to Essie 13.5 and OPI 15 ml.
Celadon Grey S008 looked like a lovely blue grey in the blog post but the one I have received is a dark grey. It lacks the glossiness that makes a nail polish look like you’ve had it done in the salon, even with some new seche vite splashed on top. It needs three coats, and it goes on streaky. The M103 Ink Blue is a matte jelly navy with glitter and it doesn’t properly dry without seche vite on top. It also looks horrid as a matte glitter jelly polish… but with a good glossy top coat it looks quite mesmerising, like a night sky. I had to put on three/four thin layers and then two liberal coats of seche vite but I got it looking like a gel polish. It chipped on one finger and there was tip wear within 12 hours, but wore without any more problems for three days before I removed it. I put on three coats of orly bonder as my base coat to prevent staining, and luckily it all came off without leaving anything horrible. I did get a lot of compliments on it though, from men and women! The women were all asking whether it was a glitter top coat on top of a blue polish. I am disappointed in the quality of the formulas but I think the shades are pretty unique. The rose scent is strong when you first apply it and fades within 24 hours so that you can smell it only when you put your nose very close to the nails. I have to give it to Anna Sui, the bottles are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Hopefully some physical shops will start to stock Anna Sui. If I could try them before I purchased then I would take the time to look at the colours because they are really quite unusual which I love. But I would not go for a normal dupe-able nail colour in Anna Sui because I just don’t have the time to be messing around with a polish that needs lots of coats and then isn’t durable.
sincereCaribou2
A few years ago I received one bottle within a gift package. It was light purple with glitters. The rose scent is a bit better than the strong chemical scent of many other polishes. However, I would not place my nose too close to it anyways. The package is very cute, same with any other Anna Sui products. The polish stays long enough but the glitters are simply too large for my taste.
I have not tried any other polishes but I would not go back to this particular one because it is not my type.

This review is for the polish in the rose shaped bottle. I have the colour #201 which is an interesting pink mixed with lilac and a bit of fine glitter. It’s one of the few colours which prompted my husband to pay me a compliment on my nails. He was seeing in in sunlight and it is very, very pretty on my fair cool hands. That’s where the accolades stop. This takes FOREVER to dry…..I’ve tried it on it’s own, with SV, with SH, Barielle TC, SH drying drops and NOTHING works. It literally takes about 4 hours to dry on me. The sickly tea rose smell is overwhelming and takes about 3 days to completely disappear. It also shrinks A LOT. I will say that I like the long narrow brush and it doesn’t chip…it just wears away a bit at the tips. I’ve tried to find a dupe of this colour and have not been successful. I’m keeping it only to match it with another colour otherwise it would be in the garbage. I will never buy AS polish again.

Ages ago when I was in either junior high and/or highschool, there were only the original “heart” shaped polishes. They cost around $13 back then, I think. Hefty for me at that age, haha! I still have one of the polishes from back then, and it still hasn’t dried up — amazing.
The prices for the newer polish are now $15. Inflation! 🙁 My friend can get a discount at where she works for 30%, which means she gets them for $11! Jealous..
I remember being in Japan when they first got the Rose-polishes!! Made me freak out. 🙂 Unfortunately Canada didn’t get it until much later..
These have a classic tea rose scent, which some topcoats do mask the scent a bit, but I find that the scent does linger.
The drying time is a bit longer than the usual polish, but I find that I enjoy these polishes too much to care, I am a bit biased, huh?! Topcoats such as Seche Vite do aid in speeding time.
Now I have 13 polishes up to date in my collection, and they all have glitters or shimmers of some sort. I don’t /not/ have a preference for solids, I actually love creams. (Usually from China Glaze or OPI) But.. I couldn’t help it with Anna Sui. They make the nicest glitter coats that don’t chip off oddly like OPI’s formulas! (In an entire sheet, regardless of top /base coat I use)
I adoooore the sheer colored polishes with the circle-glitters. My first and favourite was 020, a discontinued shade which was a champagne gold minute glitter with bigger silver glitter square chunks and big silver circles.
They do have a newer version in the roses that is number 005. This is my most recent purchase since I am running low on 020. They look really similar, but aren’t, as the #005 has distinctly yellow gold minute glitter, very few chunks of silver square glitter that shine rainbow as well, and silver circle glitter.
In my opinion, what makes these polishes so special is their multi-dimensional color (for the glitters), and the richness of pigmentation for the ones that are meant to be pigmented. (Such as the beautiful navy blue)
The shimmers are glitters are so flattering and multitoned, and so fun to layer on top of other polishes. It makes painting nails such a fun part of my week.

I love this nail color–so many choices and easy to apply. Also the effect is brilliant.Only thing is the odor to INTENSE for me.I would rather this product without any scent!

Love, love love!
Smells incredible, like tea rose…. for days.
Very cute, original colors.
Day 5 and NO CHIPS. I’ve even washed dishes w/o gloves… so I’m impressed 🙂

This has got to be the best polish i’ve ever used in regards to ease of application, it’s not too thick or thin, lasts longer than any polish i’ve used and the smell is strange and interesting in a good way! I bought the colour (300) from a discount cosmetic store for about AUS $8 as it is the most unusual colour, a pale grey/army green, but thought i’d give it a try anyway and thought if i liked it enough i’d pay full price. A couple of coats was all that was needed to give the strong opaque finish i was after and compared to an OPI polish that i found thick and gluggy this polish is great. The problem is i don’t think you can buy it here anymore in Melbourne and $25 – $30 is just way too much to spend on a nail polish on e-bay in my opinion, i just can’t do it! Pity!
Edit: oh and did i mention i bought this polish about FOUR years ago and it’s still in perfect condition!! This is unheard of if you ask me……..!!
truthfulPear6
I picked up 2 shades for 3$ each and they are really good! I purchased Thrill Seeker with is a rich deep aubergine with hot pink sparkles. And Peep Show which is a Barbie pink with pink and blue shift sparkles. They apply very opaque in 2 coats. I really like Thrill Seeker and it’s the perfect winter shade for me dark and kinda gothic but not OTT. The sparkles are not gritty and this goes on just like a regular polish. I wear Seche Vite over the top and they last a good 4-5 days without chipping. This is great for me because I have ridges and this polish stays put whereas more pricey brands have popped off!
The Peep Show is another 2 coat polish for me and it comes off pretty easy for a glitter. It looks really pretty when it catches the light. I’m not super in to nail polish but I do always paint my nails makeup is more my thing, but these are good. Especially for how cheap I got them. Total Win;)
annoyedPie8
I own two of these nail polishes and my favorite one is string bikini since i love bright pink nail polishes 🙂 Idk about the negative reviews but the polishes last quite fine on me. Possibly because i use an amazing top coat called seche vite. The top coat is quick drying and makes colors last long without chipping. You should give these VS nail polishes a try with seche vite dry fast top coat 🙂 you wont regret it 😉

I bought two of these on sale, Tantalize (nudey pink) and Tell Me More (lovely deep fuschia). They are pricy, but I think they are good quality. One coat dried quickly of each, to a nice glossy finish. As well, one coat covered well for each, but I would do two coats of Tell Me More, to deepen that lovely fuschia. Packaging was nice, classy looking, and didn’t feel cheap. I liked everything about these two nail polishes, but the price. I’m personally in love with Tantalize. I think it’s become my HG nail colour. It’s low key and classy. Something I could wear to an interview or work, or a first date, that isn’t an in-your-face colour, but still says, ‘look, I made an effort!’
adoringGelding0
I’ve just tried one color (the glittery purple one) and I really love it because uts packet with glitter and lasted me for a whole week without chipping out. Of course, I don’t know if all the colors will have the same characteristics but at least this one I bought was amazing. My downside: the price, $10 it’s a little bit on the pricey end for me.
I have a nail look with this polish in my blog so here’s the link if you want to check it out!
finickyFlamingo5
Bought this in lustworthy (red with a shiny shimmer) and love it! Completely covers in just one coat. Very short dry time and lasts quite awhile. I can’t wait to buy more colors!

I’m reviewing the Beauty Rush polish in a light pink shade. Horrid. I never write reviews for nail polishes..I’ve never been into all the specs of nail polishes much. WetnWilds my source for polish..cheap, lots of colors, good enough. Got this at VS’s semi-annual sale because it was a 1.75. This is the gloppyest, gloopiest nail polish possibly ever. So bad I had too make up words to describe it! If your going to a party wanting to look like a 5 year old playing dress up in her mommy’s things, this will complete your look. Not even nail techs could get this to look even. Also a strange phenomonon that occured after a day of wearing it, my nails (the nail polish that is) peeled off in the form they went on my nails..didnt know that could happen! PLUS, the brush seperated from the lid. It unusable..which is just as well it gave me a reason to throw it in the trash!
peskyCardinal3
The product itself is impressive. A few very unique colors (lover and cocktail) and some basic pinks(explosive/matte fuschia) and neutrals. It glides on smoothly and with 2 layers you’re all set to go. I find if my nails weren’t so weak i wouldn’t need a top coat for shine, only to prevent chiping. However I find the packaging to be iffy. A few I’ve gotten on sale have had bristles all out of whack that required trimming (messy!) and the plastic square lid comes off leaving me to have to wrench open the tiny plastic ridged top to get into the bottle. BUt overall they are a fair price with great color selction. I am surprised these aren’t rated higher, and aam looking forward to trying the beauty rush colors, hoping they apply and wear as well as these.

Confusing business model. So I get its a subscription box but what is this skipping and no skipping thing. I don’t even want the things they send me. There are business where they allow us to return partial items. This company you can’t. And they don’t cover your return fee.
Nail polish colors are great. But for the price and size, it’s not worth it. The makeup, I hate it. There are other beauty boxes that’s a lot better and tailor to you. Dont buy here! Stay away!!!
anxiousPlover3
They reel you in with a free beauty box, and then you try to paint your nails and disaster ensues. The packaging is cute but the brush is flimsy. The colors are gorgeous but the formula is either runny or globby, with streaky coverage at best. It takes an eternity to dry, and then when it does, it chips almost immediately. Seriously, if a company’s thing is nail polish, you’d think they’d at least do a decent job, but the product is sub par at best.
anxiousSnipe2
I so happen to be a julep Maven and personally enjoy Julep’s makeup and skincare products and find that they are excellent in quality and the packaging for them is great to. However unfortunately, none of these ring true to their nail polishes which sadly is what julep is known for which puzzles me… Yes they have a beautiful and fun variety of colors which is what reels you in. But when it comes to the polish formula itself it is really really crappy, streaky, patchy, sheer and just runny. It won’t dry for crap and will smudge easily. Even when using their basecoat and white base polish on some that recommend to do so. I honestly haven’t tried one julep polish that I haven’t been disappointed with and it’s almost so sad because I love the colors so much but the quality and application just don’t cut it. Especially for the price!! I’m surprised that for being such an expensive nail polish brand they haven’t improved their formula. I personally believe that julep should be known for their makeup and skincare that are actually good quality products worth your money but definitely not for their polishes… That’s really the only reason why I even stay a maven member is for everything but the polish. So bottom line I wouldn’t recommend these nail polishes. Just get something cheaper, chances are they will work much better and save you a heck of alot of money. Sorry julep! but your polish really needs some improvements or some price cuts to go with that formula if it’s not gonna be changed.

After biting my nails for many, and i mean many, years i was finally able to quit.As you probably have guessed,i am new to polishing my nails.OPI was the first polish I bought. So many great colors. It goes on streek free and lasts a long time.My nails look lovely now.I am so glad i tried OPI. Its the best!!!!

Best nail polish out there. This polish stays on longer than any other polish I’ve used. It stays a long time before chipping. The colors are nice, but most colors they make, especially the nice ones that aren’t basic colors are not available in any stores. Why even come out with all these new colors if they don’t sell them anywhere? The bristles are wide so it coats nails nicely. Sometimes the tops are harder, if not impossible to open more so than most other brands. Nice glossy finish. I prefer this brand to any other, but I use other brands more due to the lack of colors available. They are nice but still very over priced.

Mixed feelings about OPI nail polish. I own 2 shades: Big Apple Red and Dulce De Leche.
The red one, Big Apple Red, chips off the same day it was applied.
On the other hand, Dulce De Leche,(which is a beautiful color), lasts quite ok for a few days. I always add a top coat after the nail polish dries.
Overall, I don’t really recommend OPI because it is expensive and the quality is not a match to the price. There are cheaper brands that last longer (I’m talking about Flormar, which to me is superior to OPI) or at least they don’t chip after a few hours. Very disappointed that the classic red from OPI has such poor quality 🙁

I have about a dozen of Anna Sui nail polishes. The colors are a hit/miss: they don’t do neutral colors very well. I would recommend brighter, sparkly colors. They come in the cutest little package (that’s why I bought them in the first place), and smells like roses (way better than any other nail polish out there). The quality is not bad either. They don’t chip very easily and goes on smooth (I think Chanel polish has horrible brush and staying power considering the price tag). I had been using these polishes since 5-6 years ago and my favorite ones are the black with silver sparkles and the light purple with sparkles (can’t remember the numbers).
offendedLemur9
first of all it smells like rose unlike other nail polishes, plus it has amazing staying power. it usually lasts about 2 or 2.5 weeks for me 🙂

Amazing nail polish, I would buy every shade if i had the money. Pretty colors, doesn’t streak and it smells absolutely divine. Packaging is adorable..a must buy nailpolish!
