I had been looking for a mustard yellow color for quite some time. I have about NC20, very yellow olive skin. I must say I was a bit nervous to purchase this because Colourpop’s pictures often differ from the reality in color. In this case: the color in reality matches the picture 🙂
As most of the matte CP shadows are, this is slightly powdery, but that doesn’t bother me at all – I actually really like a softer texture. With most of my MAC shadows I feel the texture is a little too stiff (although many of them have been reformulated), which made me have to swirl my brushes quite hard, which I felt was a little damaging to the bristles. Plus, the soft texture makes the shadows super easy to blend. For me, most CP shadows don’t have fallout (including Paper Tiger). Since Paper Tiger is a yellow, it CAN be slightly more difficult to work with, as that’s the case with yellow eyeshadows, but I feel that the texture became better after the top layer of shadow rubbed off. Stays on all day without a primer, like most Colourpop shadows do on me.
I enjoy to use Paper tiger in several ways:
– in the crease with a shimmery brown (Kill Switch from CP or Soba from MAC) on the lid
– in the crease with a dirty gold shimmer on the lid
– brown in the crease and Paper Tiger all over the lid
There are many more ways to use a mustard color, and I absolutely love having this shadow available. I would definitely recommend it if you want such a color. I really enjoy that the price is only $4, and it can easily be popped into a magnetic palette, without any depotting
