I do like Lipstick Queen formulas and packaging, unfortunately this colour did not work for me. The blue glimmer overtone gave me a slightly dead/hypothermic look, and the pigment always seemed a bit patchy on my lips. I guess it’s just my colouring because I had the same dead lips look when I tried Hello Sailor. I’m still giving it four stars because I think the colour could work on other people, and the formula is nice.

This cost about AU$35 or so, comparable to MAC but is sheer (slightly buildable) and not longwearing so quite costly overall. It’s probably one of the most beautiful shades I own, a perfect 90s brown plum with a stunning blue green reflect. I love a reflect! It is like Clinique’s Black Honey almost lipstick, both in colour and opacity. The reflect makes it slightly cooler toned. The packaging is fantastic, so luxe feeling in a rubberised metal with brand print on outside and the inner bullet. Allows you to get a good grip on it and the lid won’t pop off. I love this, and love looking at it close up. So happy to wear this on a daily basis! Looks great and modern at work, and edgy enough for play.

This is my 20+ Lipstick Queen lipstick and it does not disappoint. It is my first in the Butterfly Ball range I have Goodbye and it has a lovely tint of dark berry with a slight hint in the sheen, of turquoise. It is beautiful and subtle. It is somewhere between LQ Hello Sailor lipstick and LQ Bete Noir Sheer, but with the hint of blue in the light, I love the depth of this and the nourishing feel. I do believe this has topped my list for use on no makeup days… I am already planning on getting a second in Goodbye, then maybe moment and sigh.
I like the subtlety of the colour and have discovered I can dab the bullet on my cheeks for a light and natural looking flush of luminous colour. This is great as a touch up during a busy work day. It is not a regular lipstick but is verging on the line between a balm and lipstick but lasts longer than a balm. I will keep it in my pocket as it needs to be reapplied every hour or so. No mirror needed.

This is my second Butterfly Ball lipstick. My first was Float, part of a three-pack, and I was surprised how much I liked that for a pale shimmery nude. Next I had to go for the darkest hue, and Goodbye, more a deep shimmery wine (albeit sheer, but buildable) sounded good, especially with fall on the horizon. It is a pretty, sheer shade, too. One swipe gives a hint of sheer wine, and a few more swipes amps up the volume, but it’s never really goth or totally vampy. It’s very accessible, good for pale and dark skin tones, and the shimmer is subtle. I hate glittery lipsticks, and this is not glittery at all. It’s just lightly shimmery and sheer and you just feel a nice moisturizing lip product and no tiny glitter flecks or anything. It doesn’t wear a long time because it’s sheer, but it’s easy enough to touch up, no mirror needed.
Edit: I caved and bought a third of these, in Trance, which is kind of a raspberry pink, though it’s more a hint of raspberry and shimmer. It’s still very sheer, but very pretty. This one would be nice for someone young to wear as a lip tint without it being obvious, but it’s also good for grownups. The formula feels good, like the others in the line do, and wears well.

You always hear about red lipstick, about how it makes a woman feminine or sexy or glamorous. But usually people talk about the thick and obvious kind, the kind one might paint on with a lip brush and wear to the red carpet or a posh office job.
This is lipstick that doesn’t look like lipstick. It give one the Snow White look, see. Of course, if you have pale skin you can use Lipstick Queen’s Medieval or Clinique’s Black Honey, but neither of those colors show up on my lips, which are quite pigmented but PALE. They used to be red, but when I turned thirteen it was like someone put a white tattoo on my lips that shows through everything. Every lip color I’ve tried gets lighter on me, so I’d have to apply a lot, and then it’d look like lipstick, and I don’t want it to look like lipstick.
Goodbye looks really good when layered over red lip stain. You can put on Benetint or press on a matte red lipstick, then swipe on a really really sheer layer of Goodbye, and suddenly it’d be as if you’re not wearing lipstick at all. The little blue glitters don’t show up as glitters, but they do make your lips look lush and full without being glossy.
The trick is to layer it over something red. I haven’t tried orange, mainly because I don’t have an orange lipstick, but I guess it’d be a nice, natural brown. It has the deepening effect of sheer black lipstick, but whereas black can wash one out, the purple adds the dimension without dulling the color. I usually put a little on my top lip and mix it out, but you can always add more, depending on how dramatic you want the color to be. The soft finish keeps it looking casual and easier to wear than the oxblood mattes and glosses on the runway these days.
For me, the only problem is that it doesn’t last too well. It doesn’t really stain, but I’ve heard that NARS Fast Ride is better for that. The color is similar, it lacks the blue glitters, and the price is higher.
Goodbye has a light vanilla scent that’s almost undetectable. The casing is rubberized, but doesn’t attract dust. I’ve worn this lipstick for headshots, presentations, smiling at my crush, class, dates, hiding from my professor in a tree, concerts and chasing a bus. It works for everything.

This is a sheer wine color on the cooler tone with a hint of a turquoise shimmer. Even though this is sheer and not opque it is darker and not a light wash.
I’m fairer/medium tone skin, darker hair. When I applied this color it had almost a brown tone on me. You notice the shimmer but not a big blueish tone. This line for me is sheer and something I would wear on the go during the day or at night if my other makeup is heavy and I don’t want to overdue it with my lips.
The consistancy is creamy and non-drying. HOWEVER formula is not long wearing so you will need to re-apply after eating/drinking and talking alot. Being a pricer lippy if that bothers you go for one of the revlon lip butters and you’ll get a similar look.
I do like the color it’s different than my Hello Sailor and a nice contrast to my collection. Since trying my first lipstick from this line even at the price I will be adding a few more to my collection.

Goodbye is a dark wine color in the tube, but it goes on as a sheer berry with beautiful blue-toned iridescent shimmer. This is definitely a cooler shade, but for those with compatible coloring it’s gorgeous. I got this in the Discovery Kit 1, which also comes with lovely Medieval and Saint Rouge lipsticks.
