I bought this in 028, a pretty medium pink on me. I love the color and the texture is typical for a pencil lip liner but unfortunately, that’s all I love. The pencil breaks easily when sharpening, and the tip seems to break time and time again. Because of this, I’ve worked my way through almost the entire pencil in just a few weeks! (Typically, it takes at least 3 months for an “everyday” lip liner for me.). I would not repurchase and will go back to Urban Decay liners or MAC pro longwear.

I love Bite as a brand, their lipsticks are my absolute favourite, so when this lip pencil line was introduced I was all over it.
I enjoy my classic lipsticks and have a ton of lip liners; these should not be confused with any “waterproof” liners on the market such as KVD, MUFE or even UD. These are made of wood and are more on a creamier side rather than MAC’s classic lip pencils. I find that Bite’s pencils are very pigmented and they do apply well, but I hate sharpening them because the tip never gets as sharp and precise as I want it to be. Plus, I am surprised these come without a box (they’re wrapped in plastic), which is very drugstore-ish if you know what I am saying. I guess that’s why the price is 18 USD only after all.
I love the nude shade I have, however, 100 (deep berry) needs a few coats to look even. It is a great pencil, don’t get me wrong. It doesn’t bleed or smudge on me. But I do need an extra minute to make it look perfect. It works great with the Jam lipstick from the brand’s Amuse Bouche line and you can actually see close-ups and swatches in a separate review here (
Good pencils, but I am not sure I will buy more because I have enough at the moment and reach out for something like MAC more.

I received this as a sample at sephora and it’s not a bad pencil. It’s very soft, applies easily and creates a very natural lip line. It’s not very strongly pigmented so you need to go over the lip line a few times. I will use the sample until it’s finished, but I don’t think I will be purchasing the full size.

Picked up pencil #028 which is a very pretty berry color. It’s a creamy pencil that glides on easily and is highly pigmented. I usually wear Make up forever lip or Mac lip liners. Have to agree with the previous reviewer regarding lasting power. It doesn’t last as well as my other liners. I tested it against a MAC lip liner on my wrist. I swiped the Bite pencil on my wrist and then did the same with a MAC liner. Then I gently rubbed each line and the MAC pencil line stayed put while the Bite line smudged and almost disappeared. Still it’s a pretty nice pencil in terms of application and color so I’m not terribly disappointed but I probably won’t purchase again
Edit Jun 10/17 – just came back to take a lippie off my rating. This pencil breaks often and very easily. I sharpen it, start applying and the end just breaks off, usually below the pencil line. Then I have to sharpen it again only to have it break again. Sometimes it breaks while I’m trying to sharpen it. Within a month I almost used up the entire pencil due to all of the breaking and sharpening. Waste of money, will never repurchase

I love Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask, the Amaretto Matte Lip Crayon, and Amuse Bouche lipstick in Meringue, so when The Lip Pencil lip liner was introduced, I was curious. I ordered the lightest color, 002, described on Sephora’s website as “Nude Pink,” and indeed, 002 is very light. It works with my palest Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, Kim KW and Valentine, but for anything deeper than that, I’d want a darker lip liner. (For reference, 002 is lighter than Tilbury’s Pillow Talk and lighter than Urban Decay’s 24/7 lip liner in Unicorn.)
The texture of The Lip Pencil is very creamy and I was pleased that it applies smoothly without dragging. The Lip Pencil doesn’t come in a box but it was securely shrink-wrapped in plastic, which I’m sure reduces tampering. It’s a traditional wood pencil that you sharpen.
I found that this particular pencil is not as budge-proof as Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheats or even Urban Decay’s 24/7 lip liners. Those have been known to last through lunch and Bite’s pencil is more likely to excuse itself from the table before dessert. The texture is more like a lipstick than a lip liner. I’ve only tested shade 002; perhaps the darker shades linger longer. It does seem to be transfer-resistant; it doesn’t leave obvious marks on my coffee cup.
My closest Sephora only had a few colors to test, but I’m sure the larger stores have a better selection. The warm brownish nude shade 020 looked like a distant cousin of MAC Spice, and 022 was a rosy my-lips-but-better shade. Bite Beauty’s The Lip Pencil won’t dethrone Tilbury’s Pillow Talk as my favorite lip liner, but I like the formula enough that I plan to try another color at some point. However, at $18 a pop, I won’t collect them all.
