I love this, so flattering on my NC25 skin tone and has a really cool matt finish.. how is this not more popular ????

OMG! I never would have considered anything from Kat Von D had it not been for Temptalia’s review for this shade. Chula is an amazing, gorgeous color! On my skin which is between MAC NC42/44 it comes off as a sort of terra-cotta shade (see my pic “74”). I’m a big fan of warm, earth toned colors so Chula was a must have! The matte formula lasts and is not drying on my chronically dry lips (which is incredibly unexpected). I find this very similar to another beloved color but by MAC called Apres Chic. If you prefer a more glossy finish, I’d recommend Apres Chic. But if, like me, you are a fan of lips in this color family, I suggest getting Chula for the elegant matte finish. I find it is kind of hard to describe–is it pink, copper, red or clay? Doesn’t matter. It’s a lovely autumn shade.

This was a total sleeper for me, to the point that I wouldn’t have even looked at it if my pal at Sephora hadn’t suggested it. But MAN what a great shade!
Chula is a very pretty medium sienna. It’s not dark, but it’s not super light, so it adds a little punch to your look without going over the top. It reminds me of the shade Thin Lizzy, only without the glitter. Paired with KVD’s Monarch palette, you’ve got a great Autumn look with all the warm, rusty tones your heart desires. It reminds me a bit of Chili by MAC, only perhaps a smidge lighter (and of course, the cruelty free policy of KVD vs. MAC gives KVD a major leg up).
This shade is super matte, but not so matte that it tugs and pulls and feels dry. On the contrary, I found this shade to glide on beautifully, and then once it sets, it’s ON. It reminds me a bit of the texture of Lovecraft (another favorite of mine). I have found that other mattes from this range can be very dry and not super pigmented, but that’s not the case with this. The coverage is opaque with one swipe, and the finish looks plush and velvety, not clumpy or streaky. The longevity is great for a non-liquid matte formula.
The packaging of the Studded Kiss line is pretty and edgy, and though some have experienced the cap opening in their handbag, I’ve not found it to be too much of an issue.
At $21, it’s a higher price point than drugstore or MAC, but not offensively high like YSL or Dior (whose quality is sub-par, if you ask me). I feel like these ride right in the middle of higher end lipsticks.
Definitely a fantastic shade for Autumn!
