I picked up this foundation based on the claims – a lightweight, hydrating, skin-enhancing foundation. I’m in my 40s and thought this might work well on my dry skin, and I was right. First the packaging – this comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump (yay!) and a black plastic cap. One pump is enough to do my entire face. I am fair with neutral to cool undertones, NW15, and I purchased shade 1, which is a nice match. The foundation itself is a very runny liquid. I use 1 pump, blend in with a dense brush, and set with a silica-based powder. I have to admit I was surprised by the staying power of this foundation. I find that this lasts through an entire workday for me (roughly 7 AM to 6 PM – I’ve even gone until 9 PM) with minimal touch-ups, and still looks surprisingly fresh at the end of the day. Many longwear foundations tend to suck the life & moisture out of my skin by the end of the day, and leave my face looking flat and dry. This foundation isn’t advertised as longwear, but it kept a fresh look and held up without any dryness, caking, or breakdown. This foundation is a natural, satin, skinlike finish – not matte and not dewy. I would call it light to medium coverage. This foundation is not cheap at $75, but you can often find sales depending where you shop. I’m really enjoying this foundation and I will definitely repurchase when I run out. I would recommend this for mature or aging skin, or anyone with normal to dry skin looking for something with light coverage & a natural skin finish.

I’ve been trying different foundations for..ever! This one has been out of rotation for a little while..for no particular reason..but I used it again today and I love it! I’m fair & have shade 2, which is a great match…not too pale, too pink, or too yellow. I used a damp beauty blender with very little foundation (I like the pump & glass container) and it gave me great, melt into my skin coverage..no separating, creases, or cracks. My face feels clean & smooth, but looks polished. My skin prep was all Mad Hippie products and I’m just really pleased with the results.

My review isn’t ‘final’ for this but so far it’s on my return list. I bought this because they finally made it paraben free which is great. I had always heard good things about this foundation some calling it a “wedding day” foundation.
Let’s start with the shade range. It’s off for me. Shade 3 is too dark and pink-orangey. Shade 2 is too yellow and shade 1 is a lighter version of three which works better but might be a bit light for me. So none of the shades work amazing for me. This is another foundation that is hard to work with. Its tricky to blend and the products you use under really matter or it can apply chunky streaky and chalky. I usually can apply any foundation with my fingers. Not this one a brush works best. It’s a fussy foundation that isn’t really worth the trouble as the pay off isn’t amazing and this always kinda sits on the skin so it looks like I have foundation on :/ bummed.

I really like this foundation. Having never worn foundation, and while looking for a product that looks like skin and covers red bumps (ironically, from other foundations), I found this one. There are 10 shades. I chose #1, the lightest, which isn’t super light. I’m fair with slight olive undertones and dark hair (think Winona Ryder or Rachel Weisz coloring). This has medium to full coverage that doesn’t require a concealer or powder on top. My problem with other foundations was these red spots that would go away if I stopped using the product (Zelens Age Control foundation was an exquisite match for color & skin, but the 17 actives didn’t agree with my chin or around my nose, the only places product was applied.) Tom Ford’s traceless foundation stick was an excellent color and texture match, but it also gave red bumps, probably because of the caffeine. Ellis Faas Skin Veil didn’t cover enough, although color was good. So far, so good with the LMdB. No oxidization. Only 2 downsides — the ridiculous price & the pump. While hygienic, I only use a tiny amount (don’t use on entire face), so I unscrew the cap, put a tiny dot on hand & then apply/blend w/foundation brush. And nervous about breaking the glass container. If you have sensitive skin and want very natural yet good coverage, give this a try. I have yet to notice the hydrating effect, but it hasn’t dried out my skin and is still the same color and finish (invisible) at end of day as it was when applied in the morning.
