I give Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment 5 out of 5 lipsticks. If I could rate this product higher, I definitely would. I use this product in the salon as part of my luxury haircare line. I use this treatment quite frequently because it is applied after Olaplex No. 2 in every single lightening service I perform because maintaining the hair’s integrity is my main concern. This keratin treatment is safe to be used as often as once a week. Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment repairs and protects vulnerable hair, thus why it is used after every lightening service because this can cause the hair to be quite fragile, while delivering intense shine and hydration. Formulated with Keratriplex which helps rebuild and repair hair to transform lackluster hair. It is also formulated with awapuhi extract to replenish every strand with moisture and shine. I will never stop using this as a treatment post-lightening, or as a stand-alone treatment, or as a treatment combined with Keratriplex ampoules and/or Hydratriplex ampoules, or as a full treatment paired with Keratriplex ampoules and Hydratriplex ampoules and a stand-alone Olaplex Treatment because this product is SO transformative by itself or paired with the listed products. In order to maintain hair integrity, Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment will always be considered a staple in my salon. It is recommended for all hair types and all hair situations. Paul Mitchell, as usual has created a pinnacle in luxury haircare with the creation of the Awapuhi Wild Ginger product line. I dont know, as a stylist, what I would do without it in my salon! As with all JPMS products, Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment is never tested on animals! So, you shouldn’t test these on our furry friends either!

Ginger, very powerful. A treatment to be used every 2 weeks tops. Simple high gloss, texture and sleek booster for strengthening the hair. The ginger smell is invogotatingly delightful. will check out other applications off the same wild ginger. Feels buoyant, clean and healthy.

This is a protein-based treatment. You definitely don’t want to use this daily or apply to your hair if you are protein-sensitive. I’m currently growing out my highlights but enjoy using protein products to keep hair breakage to a mininum. I’m particularly fond of keratin since my hair responds very well to it. This treatment strenthens and is not dulling. My curls get a boost and I really like the fragrance. I small tube runs about twenty dollars so luckily it was on sale for 20% off or I think I would have passed on it. The packaging is sleek looking which is a plus. My hair air-dries soft and shiny with good curl definition. It has a creamy thick consistency and provides moderate slip. Just leave in for 3-5 minutes and then rinse very well. Would repurchase if it goes on sale.

I just had my hair cut and my hairdresser (a new girl since my regular was out) talked me into getting the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment which she told me would make a huge difference on my hair plus her salon was running a special, so I thought why not …… unfortunately I did not have good results ….. I recently tried Aphogee’s Two Minute Reconstructor and had good results so I thought that having a treatment done professionally at a salon would be better, however, that was not the case. My Paul Mitchell treatment left my hair a dry mess … I did not want a full blow-out since I prefer to air-dry my hair and therefore could not see the full results of the Paul Mitchell treatment, however, when I came home I added my favorite serum and continued to air dry my hair and when it was fully dry, I could not believe how bad my hair looked ….. it was soft but looked dry and frizzy as though my hair was lacking moisture ….. it was also full of fly-aways. If you are looking for a good treatment for your hair, skip the salon treatment and instead head on out to Sally’s and pick up Aphogee, which gave me good results.

I’ve read all of the reviews on this product so far and I am quite surprised at some of the reviews stating the product alone caused extreme damage to their hair overnight. I have thick, colored, wavy, prone to breakage hair. I use this product every time I wash my hair as a conditioner and have also used it lately as a leave in conditioner. My hair is pretty damaged and perhaps that’s why it’s doing my hair more good than harm. Anyhow, I love this treatment! I can feel the difference in my hair after I use it. It is very pricy and can be hard to find if you don’t have a beauty store in your area, but I will keep using it until I find something better.

This is the best intensive treatment for my fine curly hair. I love the smell and it moisturizers my hair well. I use around 3 times a week and leave in for 5-10 minutes. Will definite eh continue to buy. Wish bottle lasted longer though!

I have to agree with Candence. I love this stuff! I had been going through all kinds of deep conditioners, trying to find the right one. And this is it. My hair is VERY fine, and now that it’s dark brown (I was blonde) you can tell immediatley if I use something that weighs it down. The first time I used this, it made my fine hair super soft (not TOO soft) and feel thicker and extremely managable. This is my new weekly treatment, and you can’t beat the smell.

I had the EXACT experience as MaryEllen. Actually her review made me aware of what was happening. Massive hair shed and an itchy spot on my face and tops of my ears. Didn’t put it together because I was using this product 3x a year along with step one as a treatment. When I started using it regularly is about the time I started having issues. I’m discontinuing today and will update.
I’m sick thinking of how much hair this product has cost me.

I agree with the previous review. This product will improve any damage you may have, and because I saw such great results I didnt realize my hair was just getting thinner and thinner. I thought my hair was just getting healthier and that’s why it felt lighter, but I was in fact just losing hair. Not breakage, falling out!! You can actually see my scalp now!! My hair hasn’t grown back and I stopped using it about 2 years ago. Please, avoid this product!!!!!

I’ve been using this once a week (in the shower, after shampooing, not as a deep treatment) and am very pleased with the results. My chin-length hair is lowlighted and tends to be dry, but this product, used in conjunction with the shampoo and cream rinse, leaves my hair looking healthy and thick. I think it’s already made a difference in my hair’s strength–I’m noticing fewer strands in the comb, even right after detangling. Of course, it has the same wonderful scent as the other products. This is really an outstanding line of products, and I don’t plan to be without them. Grail.
Update 8/15/13–I’m afraid that I have to change my rating for these products. After using the shampoo, conditioner, and keratin treatment for several weeks, I found that my hair was falling out. And the amount increased over time. Two weeks after stopping use, the hair loss stopped. These products contain the preservatives methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone, also used in WEN products, which are known to cause hair loss. (None of my other hair products contain this.) If you Google these, you will find that many people are allergic or sensitive to them–if fact, some doctors are calling it “an epidemic.” Sadly, these are going in the garbage, but at least I’m not losing more hair.
Update 10/6/13–I’m happy to say that my hair is growing back noticeably after having discontinued using this product. I’m relieved. What a shame that this product caused hair loss, because I so liked using it.

This is an excellent treatment for my thick, wavy hair. My hair is color treated and somewhat damaged. This has helped to get it healthier. After one use I noticed my hair was more manageable and shiny and my waves were more defined. It has the same phenomenal smell as the rest of the line.

smells wonderful (spicy ginger), hydrating…..my hair looks soft, shiny, and bouncy! i usually like to use it with about 15 minutes of heat!

Using this alongside the moisturizing shampoo and keratin rinse from the same line is the best I can remember having used, ever. I put this threatment in after shampooing in the afternoon/ evening, keep it in over night and rinse it out during my morning shower. The hair is then so soft it is almost unbelievable – I gave a small bottle to my best friend to try, and we were both amazed – it reduced frizzies, game a beautiful, oh-so-soft finish that took to styling easily. A GREAT find – i will keep using this for a LONG time! It is pricey, but I use about 1/3 of what I normally do for a mask /deep conditioner – VERY worth the money!
The whole line gets a B I G thumbs up from me!

I can’t believe that the first reviews of this product are so bad. I tried this treatment together with the shampoo and I instantly got the most gorgeous hair I ever had! Not joking! I have untreated mid-back long hair and thought it might be time for a protein treatment. The first thing I recodnized was that I only need a walnut of the treatment for my entire hair. After air drying my hair was very very soft and increadibly cool and moisturized. I was afraid of getting hard or overstrengthened hair. But nothing like that happened. Definitely my HG treatment!
But as it contains a lot of proteins surely I do not use it every time I wash my hair. I always do a wet assesment test from time to time to find out what my hair needs. If people don’t know what their hair needs and about whats in their hair care products they don’t need to wonder if they do not get good results. Some hair types don’t like protein treatments at all.

My stylist used this on my hair. I had medium damage from highlights (only highlighted one time in the last 3 years) my hair was down to the middle of my back. She used this product. I absolutely fried and ruined my hair. She cut off 4 inches afterwards but it needs another 10+ inches cut off to even start making it look better. I am utterly devastated and have done lots of research now to see how to fix this and have come to the conclusion that the only way to really fix it is to cut it down to a pixie cut and start over. I was growing my hair out for my wedding. Signed, sad

THIS IS NOT A DAILY CONDITIONER! This is a kertain rinse and it does have a high protein level, although, it will rebuild your hair when used correctly. This product should be used as a treatment maybe once a week depending on how damaged your hair is but if you use this product daily too much protien will cause breakage. I have been working with this product on myself, friends, family and clients and in MODERATION does make hair smooth and shiny.
