I wish MUA had a button for “maybe repurchase” because that’s how I feel about this night balm. It helps seal in serum and moisturizer, but I wouldn’t use only this product at night. It’s heavy and oily (another reviewer said it’s like “neosporin for your face” LOL and I agree), but doesn’t stain my pillow or get into my hair since I use just a little bit. It’s really expensive though for what it is.

I bought this while shopping with a friend. I do like balm formulations, and this one is no different. Because it’s a balm, its in a jar, not my favorite. The neck of the jar is small as well. I like the formulation for my dry skin, but it does nothing to firm the skin, because there are no active ingredients in here. There is some variant of echinacea but mostly just plant based ingredients and antioxidants. It feels nice though and is a good moisturizer.

I’ve tried Farmacy’s honey drop moisturizer in the past with no issues, even though it was very basic. I saw good reviews on this product so I decided to purchase since I’m on a search for an anti-aging balm as I’m now in my 30’s.
First off, I love facial oils but this sat on top my skin. It seriously feels like I’m putting butter on my face. I didn’t feel like it moisturized the inner layers of my skin. A week after using this, I began to get CLUSTERS of acne on my forehead and in between my eyebrows. I rarely get any sort of acne on my forehead. When I examined these breakouts in a magnifiying mirror, I realized my pores were being clogged with hardened oil. It left terrible scarring in my forehead. Returning to Sephora ASAP!

I got a 15 mL pot of this. When I first used it I swore it was a miracle product because some of my acne spots faded the next day. However, after using this sample like 60 more times (I’ll give this product props in that a little goes a LONG way) I see that it was a fluke. Nothing special about this stuff. And it doesn’t absorb! Like really! I’ve put this on 5 hour before bed and it still isn’t enough time. I was up in the morning and the parts of my face that didn’t touch the pillow sometimes feel greasy. This stuff is basically an oil slick. It does a decent job moisturizing and hasn’t led to many breakouts for me I think….although I’m a little suspicious. Anyway I’m done with it and would never buy it again. I do have to say though that it smelt really nice, like lemon and ginger tea.

I returned this to Sephora after trying it for a month.
This product never absorbed into my skin properly. It would transfer to my pillow and hair. I do feel like it helped lock in my moisturizer. However, there are products just as effective as locking in moisturizer that cost way less. I can’t justify the $48 cost for just an occlusive.
I did not notice any of the other claims–increased firmness or reduced fine lines. I did notice a small improvement in my skin tone.
For reference, I have combination skin that leans oily.

Right now, I’m using a sample of this because I wanted to test it out before the VIB sale next week to see if I want to purchase it. With the Canadian winter approaching (and the weather pundits are predicting a harsh one this year), I wanted to see if this might be something that would be helpful to ward off the drying effects that winter brings and the answer is a resounding YES! I’ve only used this for 3 nights but I am so pleased with the results. The oozy greasiness I feel when I first apply this is gone by morning which can only mean it has sunk in and done its work (I sleep on my left side, but even the right side of my face has no oily traces left so it not just rubbing off on my pillow). This smells very nice – very much like Shu Uemura’s cleansing oil – with a light scent of freshly grated ginger. And I wake up to skin that feels plumped and hydrated, rather than greasy. All I really want to know is whether it’s okay to use this around the eye area….I’m hoping the full sized jar will make that clear one way or another.
Update (Nov. 4): I picked up the full size of this balm and I’m glad to have it. I’ve enjoyed using it for the last few days since getting a sample and I know this will be terrific to have once winter hits in full force. I have a few Farmacy products, some good and some pretty ordinary or downright mediocre but I love this balm. It seems more “natural” than a lot of other skin care products (I say “seems” because I don’t have a background in chemistry) but is effective and does what it claims. What is really odd, though, is that in spite of LOTS of packaging (an outer sleeve, an inner cardboard “wrapping” that is sort of like origami in its intricacy and then the jar itself, NOWHERE are there any instructions at all as to how to use this. There is lots about how the paper for the packaging fulfills all sorts of environmental considerations and some blather about the farmers who grow the ingredients but NOTHING about how to use the actual product! Is that not ridiculous? I also find it surprising that this doesn’t come with some sort of little spatula because it really needs one. Also the photos online are more than a bit deceiving. The ones I’ve seen make it look like the jar is filled almost to overflowing and that there’s a fluffy, gel-like texture to the product that is heaped in the neck/top of the jar. This couldn’t be farther from the case….it’s actually just the opposite and all flattened down and packed down, almost like a newly opened jar of Vaseline.

I absolutely love this product. It is an integral part of my beauty routine. I use it every night before bed. It is very moisturizing. If you have oily skin you might not need it. Those of us with dry winter skin realize this is a life saver. My more detailed review video is below.

I use this balm at nighttime to seal in moisture after applying my beloved Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (as many others here on MUA I use it in place of a moisturizer).This balm works perfectly for my combo skin that can get chapped during wintertime. It’a bit on the expensive side, but you only need a little bit to cover your entire face, so it lasts a long time. Aside from the price, it’s a perfect product. The jar is lovely.
Now, can plain old Vaseline do the same at a fraction of the price? Probably so, but this balm is much more pleasant to use: it’s easy to spread, smells nice and sinks in fast. It also seems to have a calming effect. I will repurchase.

Hallelujah!!! And the heavens opened as she finally found a Farmacy product that is liked… Is it loved? No, but its still a very nice product.
So far I have tried Farmacy’s Cleansing Oil ($30), New Day Gentle Exfoliating Grains ($30), Invisible Root Anti-Aging Serum ($65), the Rise and Shine Moisture Lock ($40), and a handful of their various sheet masks. I found all of these products either lackluster or just plain sucky. This nigh time balm though, is a very nice product.
Like all of the Farmacy products I’ve tried, if I were to rate this solely on its claims, it gets a big fat F grade. Why? Because the company makes a ton of outlandish claims that just don’t seem to be true. This one claims to tighten, tone and firm, fix dark spots and uneven tones (i.e, retextures the skin), diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and moisturize. IMO the only one of those claims to be true is that it does moisturize well. Since I only purchased this too moisturize as a last layering step in my nightime regime, I can ignore all those other goofy miracle laden fallacies. What I like most about this product is that it’s a true balm – it’s not a lotion claiming to be a balm like so many others. Its texture is a lot like a cleansing balm such as Clinique Take the Day Off and except for this is something that is left on and absorbed by the skin. This worked much better than other creams and lotions for me post a professional TCA treatment. My skin drank this up the minute I applied it; even so, it still left a really silky layer of moisture that felt like a mixture of a good oil and a light lotion, which is great. Even though I like this product quite a bit, it’s still not without issue. First off, PRICE. Good grief, I don’t know what this company is smokin’ but their products are priced far beyond what they should be IMO. While I consider $48.00 to be pretty average for a really nice lotion, this still to me doesn’t check those same boxes result wise as say Belif Moisturizing Balm or Korres Greek Yogurt Advanced, both of which I believe are a bit less expensive.
Like all of the other Farmacy products I have tried (and based on other people’s reviews online), this one seems to be incorrectly marketed. Other products which claim to repair dryness aren’t liked by those with dry skin yet are loved by people with normal to oily skin. This one is sold as a light moisturizer but it’s the heaviest they make and those normal and oilier types seem to dislike it (claiming it sits on their skin like grease). Schizophrenic marketing aside, if you have dry skin I think you will really like this moisturizing balm.
