I don’t think I would have liked this much back when my scalp acted normally. Its not super hydrating, nor does it make your hair look super sleek and the smell is just “nice”. But if you suffer from greasy dandruff or dry dandruff or just an unbalanced scalp, I’d give it a try.
I took accutane and now my head and hair is bone-dry after showering and washing my hair with shampoo (I’ve tried everything, Redken, Kevin Murphy, no parabens, no colorants, no silicone, no-poo, vinegar etc etc without effect) AFTER I sleep though, every morning, I wake up with an oily, sticky, almost honey like consistence on my scalp (I know gross! But maybe this review will help someone) with bone dry ends. I don’t know what happened but this is the ONLY thing, the ONLY thing, that has made a huge difference and I wake up without the sticky, oily gooey scalp every time I use it. I can go TWO whole days without shampoo, which I just couldn’t do before. Before you say I wash my hair too much, Im not talking a “normal” oily scalp, so thats not why, its a chemical thing inside my body that has happened because of accutane – I know as my hands, ears, eyes etc are permanently dry now as well, so much that I have flakes in those places permanently. Its like my natural balance is f****d up.
Hope this helped someone! 🙂 DON’T BUY IF YOU DON’T HAVE AN ACTUAL PROBLEM 🙂

I got a full size of this hair mask in a limited edition vegan glossybox, and I was so excited to try it, after using the Colour Refresh Mask from the same brand previously. My main gripe with that product was that I needed so much product to cover my hair, and I’m glad to say that isn’t the case with this mask. Granted, I focus more on the lengths with this mask that I do with the colour mask, but it’s still a lot richer and easier to distribute and evenly coat the hair. It’s a very thick, creamy mask – so thick that you can turn the packaging upside down without anything moving in the tub. It also has an “inner lid”, so there’s no mess when you open the tub up, regardless of how it has been stored or if you’ve travelled with it. The packaging is really pretty, sturdy and all-around neat. It has a scent that I identify as orange-ish (I’m terrible at identifying scents, though, so that might not be it). It’s definitely there, but it’s in no way overwhelming and it doesn’t really linger. It also doesn’t smell so terribly perfume-y/synthetic as many cheaper hair masks do (Schwarzkopf/Gliss being a prime example of this).
It’s said to be anti-inflammatory, boost growth and prevent hair loss, and ironically I received this right when I was experiencing a period of losing an unnerving amount of hair. I was feeling stressed, I had just gone vegetarian, and I might’ve been a little careless about getting enough protein and/or iron in my diet. I can’t really assess how much this mask helped with the hair loss problem, if it simply came down to me taking better care of myself, my body adjusting to a new diet, this mask, or a combination of all of these things, but I am back to shedding my normal amount of hair a few months later. Regardless of whether or not this mask was part of the improvement, it is clear that my hair feels much more healthy when I use this mask regularly. With many (cheaper) masks my hair will feel great right after using the mask, and then it’ll be like I never put anything in my hair at all soon after. With semi-regular use of this mask (I use it perhaps every other time I wash my hair, and I go 4-5 days between washes) my hair feel a lot healthier. It’s less dry, less lifeless, it barely gets frizzy at all, and my curls are more defined and springy.
I will definitely repurchase this at some point, though I’m curious about trying other masks from the brand that is more targeted for dry hair before I return to this. It’s a little bit pricy, but considering the effects of the masks and a little going a relatively long way, I’m okay with the price.
+ Cruelty free (PETA and Leaping Bunny Certified)
+ Vegan
+ Ingredients like aloe vera, vitamin e and amino acids
+ Feels high quality and quite luxurious to use
+ UV protection, and shouldn’t strip coloured hair (actually it says it will prolong the colour, but I can’t speak for that since I have semi-permanent colour in my hair that is supposed to fade gradually)
+ I think it does my hair some good in the long term, not just as a temporary fix
+ It’s lasted me though quite a lot of uses, despite having thick and quite long hair
+ Smells good, but the scent’s not too strong
+ No parabens or sulfates
– I can’t think of one, to be honest. The only reason I don’t give this 5/5 is because I’m thinking other masks from the brand will be even better suited for my hair type
