I love this stuff and have repurchased it many times. I’m always looking for products to give some volume or texture to my fine, straight hair. Some products leave my hair feeling like straw, or too crunchy, or just don’t work. This one manages to do the job without causing any problems for my hair. I make sure not to use too much of it, which could lead to product buildup I suppose. I use it at the end of my hair routine, just giving a quick spray towards the ends of my hair and a little above). It just adds a little oomph that makes it look a little thicker and tousled without causing a tangly mess or making it look dirty. I think there’s a good amount of product for the price, especially given that you (or at least I) don’t need a lot to make it work.

I’m obsessed with B&B’s thickening dryspun finish so I bought this thinking it would be more of that tossled bed head piecey look. Unfortunately, this stuff just makes my hair look dry and strawlike and is waaay too easy to overdo. Back to thickening dryspun finish it is!

This is a lifesaver on my fine, flyaway, wavy hair. I use it when my hair’s too clean and fluffy and needs texture and separation, or on bad hair days when it refuses to be either straight or properly wavy (so most days…). CitySwept doesn’t provide any real hold, but it makes it look intentionally messy and cool, instead of unstyled. The effect is quite similar to Bb. Texture Creme, which I also love, but that has a lot more hold and is very sticky. CitySwept’s only con is the smell – it’s hideous, like some kind of bathroom cleaner, but the smell doesn’t last long after spraying. I can see why a lot of people don’t like it (it’s basically a spray to give you dirtier hair), but I think if you have wavy, fluffy hair and you like the undone, natural look, it’s worth a try.

This product is amazing! It is important to note what it IS and what it ISN’T. this is a “dirty up my too clean hair do I can look a little grungy” spray. It is not a shine spray or a hairspray. I have fine hair so I spray it into my palm usually and work it into my ends. It gets rid of FlyAway’s and “rock-stars” my bad hair days. The most similar product in the Bumble&Bumble line to this is texture cream and my hair is too long and fine to use that. I love this product and will purchase it again.

Just…meh.
I’m going back to my old favorite Bumble and Bumble hairspray, “Spray de Mode.” It held better, it looked better on my hair, and I could still get a brush through it. CitySwept isn’t horrible. It does give you some hold, and it’s not sticky. But it doesn’t thrill me. Even based on packaging, which I know is extremely shallow of me, Spray de Mode comes in a pretty purple can, and I miss that. Even though Spray de Mode had a little fragrance, it didn’t bother me as much as the fragrance in this. I was silly to buy into the hype of CitySwept when it was new. Those models standing in traffic, flagging down taxis….It’s all a blur now.
Bumble and Bumble has some better styling products that are more impressive. My favorites are Brilliantine, Don’t Blow It, Bb Gel, Prep, and some of the Thickening line. This one is just a yawn. I’d rather save the bucks for something fun like Surf Infusion.
Won’t buy this particular product again. I don’t wear hairspray every day anyway.

My hair stylist always uses this on me and I always like the results. BUT….. this seriously reeks. Granted I’m sensitive to fragrance but it’s very overpowering and smells potently masculine and strongly chemical. Like a cheap cologne. It lingers long enough where I can smell it throughout the day and well into evening. For awhile I thought the smell was the hairspray she kept using on me, so last time I went in I asked her not to use it. She used this as usual and I decided to purchase it after so many times wearing it and enjoying it. Then it was like a belated lightbulb went off when I realized that it was this giving me headaches and making me self-conscious of the powerful fragrance my hair gave off. I know, I should have figured it out sooner but you know how salons can be with all the different fragrances and chemical smells wafting around. Once I was in my car and running some errands it was just nauseating.
Needless to say I returned this next time I got my hair done. I do love the finish it gives though. It has great memory and keeps my flat-iron waves in place all day and helps preserve my blowout into the next day. My hair looks slightly glossy, a nice change of pace from the styling sprays that add matte texture and rougher hold. I like B&B’s Spray de Mode, and this seems similar but offers a stronger hold while not making my hair feel crunchy or stiff. It does build up fast though so a light mist is all that’s needed. Otherwise it gives that greasy, sticky residue.
I wish cosmetic companies would stop going overboard with the added fragrance. As with skincare, I feel like artificial scent in hair products just unnecessary. A light touch of something neutral or natural isn’t so bad but when they laden products with synthetic fragrance I wonder what they’re masking.
Anyways, if you’re sensitive to perfumes in hair products I would tread cautiously here and test it first before purchasing.

I find this similar to Apres Beach by Oribe, but it is a little lighter and the smell is more synthetic. I applied it to dry or almost dry styled hair, as a finishing spray. First off, I’m a guy, and I have short to medium length hair (max 4 inches on top). I find this as a great finisher to give texture, shine, and add hold. It’s almost like a spray pomade, if that makes sense, but very light. I can’t decide whether I’ll keep buying this or go back to Apres Beach. I actually think they cost around the same $/oz.

This product is absolutely terrible. There was no shine or separation as promised, it just made my hair dull, dry and limp, as if it had died on my head. I can’t even give it points for having a pleasant fragrance, because it smells awful too. The price is ridiculous for what poor quality it is, and the can isn’t even very full. When I returned it to Sephora they tried to give me grief about the can being almost empty (even though I had purchased it the day before and only used it once) until they took other cans off the shelf to compare and saw that yes, they don’t fill up the can that much in the first place. If you’re looking for a product to add some shine, definition, a little bit of hold, and smells beautiful and luxurious, try Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray. This stuff is wonderful and worth every penny, I won’t stray again!
