Ive only just heard about Rituals so decided to try this hand cream. I have the Ayurveda one which has almond and rose in it. The lotion is very thick and rich but blends into the skin so nicely. Its not heavy or greasy at all. Leaves skin super soft and hydrated for a long time.
The scent is so lovely that I now I want more from this line. I saw how cute their advent calendar was so Ill be getting one at the end of the year.

This is, as far as I understand it, one of the hand balms replacing the old “Gingko’s Secret hand balm”. Now different “lines”/scent family within the brand has its own version of this, but it seems like it’s basically just the scent that differs. Either way, this is a fantastic hand balm – one of the very best remedy for my winter dry hands, and certainly the best one that is luxurious on top of being effective. The feeling when you rub it in is that it creates a protective barrier on top of the skin, yet it sinks in relatively quickly for being such a rich balm. I use this mostly in the evenings, and I wake up with baby smooth hands, and it’s not just an effect that washes off during the day, it’s truly healing. The scent of the sakura line is excellent, though you might want to look into one of the other lines if you’re not fond of florals.
I just saw that it’s also available in a version that has SPF 15, which is quite nice for summer/daytime wear.
I am currently waiting for a response about whether or not the glycerin and allantoin in the balm is plant based/synthetic rather than animal derived, and I’m really hoping it is, because I want to keep repurchasing this over and over again! Will update this review once I’ve gotten a reply. (Rituals Sweden sadly doesn’t have a list of vegan options, but rather lists a few animal derived ingredients to look out for (honey, beeswax and lanolin), and doesn’t mention possible animal byproducts like glycerin, allantoin and lactic acid.)
+ Cruelty free
+ Soothing, healing and wonderfully nourishing hand balm
+ Has shea butter!! The “magic” ingredient
+ Fantastic scent – not overwhelming, but still quite rich
+ Lovely design
– A little bit on the pricey side – though it really, really works, so it’s worth the price
