This is a good primer for longlasting eye makeup. Seriously: no makeup buildup in creases, no oiliness around the eyelids that fades makeup; it really stays put all day long. But that’s where it ends for me.
First of all, I’m not a fan of this type of applicator, it doesn’t reach all of the inside of the bottle and I feel like in the end I’m throwing away half the product. The applicator also doesn’t get much of the product on there, which is a shame. Next, it takes its sweet time to dry completely. It’s very, very sticky and you have to let it dry completely before applying eye shadow, otherwise it won’t blend at all. Takes a good 15 minutes to not feel sticky anymore on my skin. Third, and this is the ultimate dealbreaker for me, it dries out my skin after long term use. I have sensitive, thin skin around the eyes already and it’s much more prone to wrinkling and fine lines than the rest of my face. This increases that tenfold.

It’s good but not great. It’s almost transparent and provides a sticky base. As it is already mentioned you need to leave it dry for a couple of seconds and then set it with powder. I have oily hooded eyelids and my eyeshadow still creases after 5-6 hours with this primer. So, it extends the wear of my eyeshadow but doesn’t prevent it from creasing.

This is a really good primer but it’s slightly finicky which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. This is a white cream primer with a doe foot applicator. First off, when you apply this, LET IT DRY COMPLETELY BEFORE PUTTING EYESHADOW ON TOP!! This is a primer that needs to be totally dry or else you will have a skippy smudgy mess. But, if it is totally dry, it’s really long lasting and eyeshadow blends on to beautifully. The primer is not opaque so it doesn’t cover veins and such but it does even out the skin ton a small amount. The doe foot gets kind of messy for me because I usually have residual mascara or eyeliner on that smudges into it. I get black spots smeared around my eye. So make sure you have your old makeup totally removed before using this. Otherwise it works great! I prefer the Wet n Wild primer so I don’t think I’ll repurchase. But it is a good primer.

This is absolutely “the best” Eyeshadow Primer out there, bar none!
In one of my other recent primer reviews, I mentioned that the Tarte 360 Creaseless 12 Hour Eyeshadow Primer was my holy grail for a long time (but unfortunately it was discontinued), and that’s when the NYX Proof It Eyeshadow Primer came into my life!!!
It’s just the perfect formula…the NYX primer reminds me a lot of the Tarte product BUT as much as I loved that, the NYX primer is that much better. It goes on feeling drier than a lot of these other types of primers and it dries fast!
It says it’s clear on the packaging but I find it to be more of an off white colour (which by the way) doesn’t interfere or affect any type of eyeshadow colour that you might use. I tend to use an ivory/vanilla, matte shadow all over my lids and nothing else so I pretty much just keep it simple…I find that the NYX primer makes my lids look clean and matte..,..no creasing whatsoever! I’ve tested it out for long periods of time, such as 16+ hours and it’s flawless…
I like the doe foot applicator but I do tend to put the product on one finger tip and then I use my other fingertip to tap them together and then I dab the product from both fingertips and I apply it to both lids at the same time and my eyelids always look even and set. I also tend to use any remainder that might be left on my fingertips and put it underneath just below my lash line…it helps my gel liner stay in place…you need very little…just a quick dab…
As I mentioned in my other review, I live in a smaller community so there isn’t a lot of choice for products like this so I have to order it online and eBay always has a good deal…I can usually pick it up for about $7.00 so it’s very affordable…
I hope that this primer doesn’t get discontinued…that would really make me sad…
Buy and try it and I bet you’ll be happy!
UPDATE: One more thing to add to this review. I now extend the eye primer to cover my brow area so whatever miniscule bit that might be leftover from my eyelids and is still on my fingertips gets lightly tapped onto my brow at start of my brow where I use a pencil to even out the hairs. After that, I powder my brow over the primer a bit and then apply the pencil and I’ve noticed that it sure helps my eyebrow pencil stay put without any smears during the day. it looks fresher throughout the day….

I’ve loved the Thank Me Later eyelid primer but now I’m sticking with NYX Proof it! Waterproof Eyelid Primer. Once applied, give it a couple of minutes to adhere, then I recommend a light dusting of powder prior to applying powder shadows, to keep it blendable.
This primer grabs products and lasts an amazingly long time on my extremely oily lids. Highly recommend as it is almost bullet proof in my experience, and I’ve tried at least a couple of dozen different primers over the years. This stuff is AMAZING for oily lids.

I love this primer! It makes my makeup budgeproof, creaseproof, and increases color payoff. My shadow always creases after a few hours at work, but with this primer, it looks virtually the same as it did when I applied it. It works for cream, powder, and foiled shadows. My usage tip is that a little goes a long way and to set it with some residual translucent powder before going in with shadow – it makes it much easier to blend that way.

This holds my eyeshadow on throughout the day without an issue. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. I feel like it goes on a little thick and can make my eyeshadow stick too much like it doesn’t blend well. I try to use a thin layer, but it can be difficult with how goopy and wet this stuff is. I appreciate the doe-foot applicator so I don’t have primer all over my fingers. The is one major reason I tried this stuff plus the good reviews it had. Overall, I am okay with this primer and will finish the tube, but probably won’t be repurchasing because I’ve used better primers.

I was already in love with the NYX HD Primer so I gave this one a shot. I think this one is even better. I work in a warehouse and do lots of heavy lifting everyday and this stuff helped my eyeshadow stay put through the sweating. I still saw a lot of shimmer on my eyelids after an 8 hour day, which is awesome!
Compared to the HD primer, this one is stickier, which is probably why it makes my eyeshadow last so much longer. One little thing though, Proof It makes it hard to blend. With the HD primer, I can put my eyeshadow directly on it and start blending away. With Proof It, it makes my eyeshadow stick and it looks blotchy. However, I still give this 5 stars because it’s an easy fix, I just put down a base shadow that’s the same colour as my skin and then my other shadows blend fine. I give it 3/5 for packaging though because I prefer a squeeze tube so I can get ALL the product out, but a doe foot applicator is not terrible. 😛

4.5 stars! Bang for your buck!
I don’t wear makeup as often as I used to and so long are the days of heavy makeup for a night out. My main concern now is just to make sure my eyeliner stays put during the day. I used to only swear by the Urban Decay eye Primer Potion when it was in the original long genie bottle wand packaging, but since then, I felt like the formula just wasn’t the same anymore and was on a hunt to find a new eye primer.
At around $5 for 0.23oz, this NYX primer is pretty amazing. It goes on a little sticky, but doesn’t stay sticky for long. I usually apply with the wand to my lids and eyebrows, then use my fingers to spread & blend the product around. I will also give it a little time to really dry/sink in before doing anything else on my eyes. I felt like it does its job in keeping your eye makeup in place. However, I did not test it in extreme conditions like underwater. My eye makeup did hold up in humid weather like that of Louisiana and Hawaii. My monolids sometimes gets oily and I felt like this helped combat that. I will also use this product before applying concealers to my undereye and for pesky red pimples to keep the concealers in place. With this technique and topping off with a powder to set it keeps my concealers from sliding around, which is a nice little added bonus of this primer!
For someone who only wears eye makeup on the weekends, this is a great option as I wouldn’t want to spend more than $20 now on a product that might end up expiring before I can finish it. I think this beats the Too Faced Shadow Insurance and UD Primer Potion in price + value + effectiveness. I would buy it again, but NYX keeps coming out with new/different products so I’ll have to try the other types first!

To start of, this primer works. It does it’s job, and for my eyeliner that just won’t stay on my eyelid and smear everywhere, this primer seemed like a miracle for me. I’m not 100% sure that the waterproof part of this eyeliner is legit, since I did use it for an eyeliner that was waterproof as well, so I guess it does.
So far, so good, but the problem I have with this primer is using it for as an eyeshadow base. Even after I let it dry for a bit after applying, I just can’t blend eyeshadows on top of it. The shadow sticks to it and won’t blend effortlessly like it always does. But on the bright side, if I succeed on blending eyeshadow on top of it, my eyelids don’t get as oily and the work on my eyes, so it helps it last.
Another problem I have is the packaging. Recently I found out that the plastic part of the applicator cracked, and now it’s a little hard to open it without accidentally pulling only the plastic but leaving the applicator itself still screwed inside.
Sadly, I won’t repurchases this product, but only because I want to try other brands and see if they hold up as well. But I do recommend others to others who have oily eyelids like I do, because this primer really helps this problem.
