This cleanser is pretty special. All adults have (invisible) Demodex mites on their face. In some people, it causes issues (redness, irritation, acne, blepharitis, etc.).
I have rosacea, without the acne (Type I-redness only). Demodex mites are implicated in rosacea, although it is unclear whether they are responsible for Type I (redness only). The theory is that the mites die on your face and their bacteria irritates the skin, so I thought I would try cutting down on the mites, to see if it helped with my redness. I believe it actually does. I usually use Dove bar soap on my face, since it is not irritating. However, I think this is actually less irritating and more beneficial to my skin, so I will assume that is because it helps get rid of mites. I can also use it on my (very sensitive, dry) eyes, with no issues.
I stopped using this recently (going back to Dove White Bar), and I slowly began returning to a state of redness, irritation and itchiness. I used this last night, combined with Biafine, and my skin is back to being calm and clear. I know Biafine is a miracle product, but I have to give this credit, as well, since I did not use Biafine on my eyes, and my eye area was less red today, too. Not sure if it would, realistically, work that quickly on mites. However, whatever its mechanism of action, it does seem to calm my skin down.
Edit: I have gotten away from using this, just bc my dry eyes are killing me and I need to be as gentle as possible with what I use around them. I still think it is a great product, but I am back to Dove, with no issues, so far…
