Sails (Matte white), Yacht (Duo Chrome mauvy taupe with a violet shift), Seychelles (Metallic aqua marine), Palermo (Metallic jewel pink), Seaside (Duo Chrome silver with a subtle blue shift), Inheritance (Metallic true gold), Mediterranean (Metallic sky blue), Estate (Matte soft pastel peachy pink), Cabana (Matte muted birch mustard), Coastline (Matte pastel soft peach), Bahamas (Matte bright bold candy hot pink), Monte Carlo (Matte cool mid-tone pink), Cannes (Matte bright violet purple) and Palm (Matte dark chocolate brown)
The colour story is very outside-the-box by ABH standards as there are only three shades that I’d consider as being ‘standard neutrals’, whilst everything else has some colour; there some lovely, softer, colours that can be used as ‘everyday’ almost-neutrals, there are glitzy jewel and precious metal tones, and there are two bold colour pops in two of my favourite shades [pink & purple]. You also get a double-ended brush in the palette, with is surprisingly high quality and is something that I regularly use.
The shadows all have great pigmentation, everything is easy to blend & build up, and there’s no heavy shimmer/glitter that doesn’t adhere to skin and goes everywhere, plus everything is crease & fade resistant. I’ve not had any issues with shades skipping or oxidizing. Speaking of soft shadow; there is kick-up with most of the shades in this palette when I dip my brushes into the pans, but that is something that never really bothers me as long as the powders apply and perform well, which these do. I keep saying that ABH’s shadows are soft, which they are, but the formulas are more Modern Renaissance and Sultry soft and buildable, rather than Subculture and Prism mega pigmentation in one swipe. One thing to bear in mind is that the shades Bahamas, Cannes and Palm are classed as pressed pigments not as eyeshadow, due to the dyes used in the formulas not being approved by the FDA for use on the eyes – this doesn’t mean anything for most people, but there may be irritation and/or staining for those with very sensitive skin.
Seaside and Mediterranean don’t look massively dissimilar on my skintone as they are a similar depth – you can easily see a difference individually, but when worn together they bleed and meld into one shade. Almost every shade [Inheritance is the sole exception] contains carmine, so this palette isn’t vegan, which will disappoint lots of people.
I’ve worn about half of the shades in Rivera in all-day looks & have at least played around with every single shade once or twice and can not single out any shade for not performing well, so do not have any serious criticisms for this palette. Very fun and poppy, yet very wearable and cohesive colour story. I very highly recommend this palette to anyone who wants to ‘freshen’ up their makeup looks as we head towards the spring/summer seasons.
