ETA– I have only been using this for a week and I went out to my local Target and picked up another tube. This is my ‘almost’ HG moisturizer; it is my #1 lotion.
I say ‘almost’ because it doesnt control my shine or oils. I still get shiny, but I’m pretty sure thats fault from my topical BP doing its job. But for some reason, my pores etc.. dont look near as bad when I’m shiny with this lotion compared to every other lotion I’ve used. I also have to note that a week ago before I started using this, my nose area had been consistenly breaking out with whiteheads; random little ones around my nose area every single day. No matter if I wore makeup or not, I kept getting at least 1 a day…….Until I switched to this as my moisturizer! Im assuming something was upsetting the balance of my skin from my other moisturizers, because my moisturizer was the only thing Ive changed. I can report I have 100% no breakouts, or a single pimple on my sensitive acne-prone skin since using this (with my bp gel). Its been awhile since I could say that. It also seems to calm my skin. The beneficial ingredients are worth it in this lotion. Elf scored high with this one. I highly, highly recommend this face lotion!!!!

YES! Love this!
I will give it a 4 lippie, just because I don’t think it keeps me “matte” or shine-free or really “controls oil”, but it does keep me a bit more matte/less greasy-looking than my prior HG lotion (Cetaphil Daily Hydrating Lotion with Hyaluronic Acid) and my prior prior HG lotion (Olay sensitive skin lotion without SPF) both which could look downright greasy when I woke up in the AM.
This has a great consistency if you prefer really runny lotions like water. It comes in a nice larger squeeze tube that has a pump – and i think the packaging is neat. The squeeze/pump combo hopefully will help you get all the product out. Because it’s super runny, I literally squirt 2 pumps in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together lightly and then just rub the lotion quickly all over my face/neck. It absorbs immediately, it feels refreshing – it has a light fruity/clean scent. It’s not floral, and it’s not 100% fruity – but the scent is really nice. I’m very sensitive to scents, and I love the smell. It’s not overpowering at all and not perfumey. Very nice. Hasn’t bothered my skin one bit. I have sensitive skin and shiny skin (combo) from BP topical acne gel, so a good light moisturizer is a necessity!
I have mixed this with foundation – works fine. I have worn this under foundation – works fine. It’s so lightweight that there really isn’t any issues. I think if you are someone with extreme dry skin or dry skin – you won’t benefit from this because it is meant for more oily-skinned folks. It’s a lightweight moisturizer. The tea tree oil/kaolin/silica/willow bark hasn’t bothered my skin. I also love that this contains Niacinamide and Squalane (not Squalene which is it’s heavier counterpart) — which was why I wanted to try it. It’s a really good facial moisturizer with really good ingredients for your skin! I also enjoy that it does NOT have SPF. I prefer that option so that you can choose the type of SPF that works for you (chemical vs. physical). Compared to ELF’s daily moisturizer (blue bottle) – the ingredients in this are WAY better (much less comedogenic) which was why I could try it.
I will absolutely repurchase this (going to grab a backup today)! I hope ELF never discontinues it. I have tried the ELF+ matte lotion (pink squeeze bottle) and prefer this oil control one 100% .
