Animale……yeah a wolverine or Yeti or Sasquatch. Loud, brash, ostentatious and masculine. Those are the words that come to mind with this fragrance. It’s difficult for me to pick out any individual notes but after a few hours I did detect the honey note but it is not predominant. I feel like I am in the middle of a vegetable and herb garden (coriander is a note in this fragrance) with rose bushes on the outlying regions of said veggie garden. I can smell the dirt, weeds, oranges, vetyver and something very animalic (duh……the fragrance is called Animale Animale) which is the civet. Reminds me a little of Cacharels Eden. Sillage is amazing (it can fill up a gymnasium) and lasting power is until you somehow manage to wash it off. I think this perfume is part of the chypre family. I’m a floral kind of guy but this stuff is amazing. Very cool unexpected find. Definitely a left over fragrance from the 80s. Glad it’s still around.

Brash, hard, tough, take no prisoners. This is a vulgar fragrance. And I mean that in a good way. As in Dominatrix take no prisoners. Well, Doms take prisoners, only they call them slaves. And that’s what others will be if you use this fragrance correctly.
Mosses, patchouli and civet assault you. Spices and woods closely weave in and out. The recipient has no idea what is enveloping them. Animale reaches into primal tendencies and pulls them out. Muskiness is only a backdrop to the other heavy notes. This is a cocky attitude chypre of magnitude. You know what you want and who you are when you wear it. You walk with strength and others follow. Your mantra? Did I say I care? Because this perfume takes captives whether that’s your intention or not. It opens eyes and minds to your bidding.
Michael Hutchence of INXS sings
“Here comes the woman, with the look in her eye
Raised on leather, with flesh on her mind
Words as weapons, sharper than knives
Makes you wonder, how the other half die? Other half die
The devil inside, the devil inside
Every single one of us the devil inside
The devil inside, the devil inside
Every single one of us the devil inside”
-Devil Inside Lyrics, INXS.
And that pretty much explains Animale. A strong-willed perfume. Be very careful in application and where you wear it. This frag lasts until you take it off. A reminder for those who wear it-don’t forget your crop and handcuffs.

I agree with the previous reviewers opinion that this scent has a ‘dated’ feel to it, it definitely does smell like the early ’80s, the pre-Giorgio and Poison era. It’s a dated nondescript floral on a dated dustily powdery base. I tried it thinking it would be musky and animalic and it isn’t, not to me. The scent it really reminded me of was Bill Blass. I’d say Animale is a step above that one though. Glad I got the chance to finally try this one, but No sale.

Lots of pretty flowers with a hint of musk. I can smell rose in this, maybe ylang. I wish it had just a bit more musk….definitely NOT animalic despite the name. It’s amazing that something this good can be had so cheaply. It does feel a little dated to me, however. If you’re into big floral scents, check this one out. It’s not sour or sharp….a hint of powder.
