I love this stuff. With dry skin and an aversion to most loose powders as something I don’t want to breathe in, I’d usually avoid this kind of product but Bio Brightener doesn’t dry me out and doesn’t make me cough; yay! What I like to do is put on cream blush, dust the Bio Brightener over it and then use a bit of powder blush over that with my fan brush. It gives me a soft glow, not too sparkly or fake looking.

This is one of the worst cosmetic products I’ve ever purchased. It is advertised as a brightening powder but it’s actually matte and colorless (white in the box but colorless on the face) so there is nothing in it to actually brighten. In addition, it’s not milled finely enough to qualify as a cosmetic powder – it has the texture of all-purpose baking flour. Sometimes I use arrowroot flour sold in grocery stores as body powder/deodorant replacement and even that’s more finely milled than this “cosmetic” powder. The container is also poorly designed, it’s a tiny box that doesn’t fit a full-size powder brush so you can’t pick up a needed amount of powder or tap the brush to drop excess powder back into the container. Finally, I was shocked to discover that one of the main ingredients is silica, which is a terrible ingredient to include for a company that claims to be all about non-toxic ingredients. Thankfully, Target allows you to return opened cosmetics so I was able to return this abomination.

I tried this powder and here’s my concern. As soon as I brushed on this powder it was airborne and hard not to inhale. The second ingredient is silica which, when inhaled, can cause a dangerous lung disease called silicosis. In my opinion it’s not worth the risk.
Check out silica on the EWG Skin Deep database.

I’m on the fence about this powder. Yes it definitely does blur and brighten, but it doesn’t make your makeup last. Thus the reason I’m on the fence. If I was going out for the evening and only needed my mu to last 4 hours then this would be my go to product but I generally need my mu to last 14+ hours and for this it is a fail. I think I will be sticking to my LM powder which lasts all day when applied with a damp BB. This product goes lumpy when applied in the same manner. If it lasted all day then it really would be the perfect powder, alas it’s not. I don’t think I will repurchase.

You can buy a 5g (I think) sample size of this from the w3ll people website (along with several of their other products) which is great when you don’t want to commit to full size. I use this exclusively as a setting powder for under the eyes as a green replacement for my Laura Mercier Secret Brightening powder. This works as well as the LM and since I only use under the eyes, I’m still working on the sample but I plan on purchasing the full size when done. I’m a big fan of w3ll people as a brand. I’ve also tried their moonstone highlighter and mascara and like their affordability, accessibility and good ingredients.

I am so disappointed in this powder. It is marketed as a highlighter powder that is supposed to blur lines and imperfections, but it is more of a matte setting powder. What the heck! Not what I expected. I would not have paid for this had they identified it correctly as a setting powder. This also clings to dry spots so beware.
